  1. Agree that we do in fact live in "interesting times". Funny that this curse is attributed to the Chinese... I too plan reloading therapy for this afternoon. There's lonely brass and components calling to me as I type this.
  2. I applaud you Larry! Good on you for listening to your physicians and that voice in your heart my friend. I had the Pfizer series Dec/Jan (Healthcare worker) and my bride of 33+ years gets her 1st Pfizer this morning. The missus has multiple health issues, so I am very happy she's scheduled. Our "daughter" had the Moderna series with no negative side effects. (Healthcare worker too).
  3. Whew, while nice Dillon is certainly more in line with my working class budget. iirc I invested around $300.00 in my Dillon 550 back around '89 or so. It's still going strong and Dillion did an inspection, cleaning, and parts replacement several years ago. Just cost me the shipping. And they've replaced parts along the way as needed. I certainly consider my Dillon a value purchase and investment. Nice setup @DJTC45!
  4. Yeah, Newtown really reinforced what I already knew, but had grown complacent about. I dry fire more than I shoot as well, but I still try and get to the range for focused drills and to practice specific skills 2-3 times a month. I limit my rounds and due to home/personal circumstances severely limit my range time. But 20-30 minutes of focused practice ( i.e. Rastoff , a 5x5 drill, or a reduced round count Dot Torture) and verification of some of my dry fire practice works for me. I've also been shooting more revolver than auto this past 12-18 months and I've found the DA work with the wheelie has helped a lot with my SA/Safe Action trigger control. Besides, I like wheelies. We all know/knew that every election year brings on a rush of purchasing guns & ammo. But the convergence of events of the past couple of years is pretty unprecedented, at least in my experience. From what I read, Natchez and many other online retailers, list ammo several times per day when they get shipments in. There are a lot of folks competing for that ammo, sometimes guns, and things move remarkably fast. Who knows what the "New Norm" is gonna be... time will tell.
  5. This is terrible news. Praying also for peace and comfort. May God Bless and keep you.
  6. @leroy I have an ATEI worked Glock 17... shot it today at Point Blank Knoxville as a matter of fact. It's taken, and still takes, a lot of dry fire and consistency of motion to really gain benefit from it, imho. But it sure helps with these aging eyes. You are welcome to try it if you'd like and see what you think. My time is kinda tight right now, but PM me and we'll see what's what.
  7. Welcome to TGO @nedsled! I've worked travel assignments in the Bay Area many years ago and was stationed at Oak Knoll (Oakland) even further back. I think you'll like Tennessee
  8. I just got back from shooting this with my Glock (cold) and my Shield 2nd...it's humbling because there is no reason for me to miss my hits other than me LOL. Thank you for the challenge Randy. Great exercise!
  9. I too, have very gently and slowly deprimed a few cases over time. I was able to use and fire the primers in other loads. But I wouldn't envy trying this to any extent. Berdan primers crossed my mind as well, but I assume the listing the OP is referring to is for boxer primers. I read (on a couple of blank manufacturers sites) that they use boxer primers fwiw, but I have no experience at all with blanks personally.
  10. Thanks for the write up and info @JimHouchin. Nice M21! I am currently "re-embracing" my revolver roots and would be interested in your response to the question by Lee @jlw TIA
  11. Thank you A.J and Randy! I would highly recommend this class to pretty much everybody! You don't need to be a "Gun Person" to benefit immensely from this training. The context A.J. presented is spot on. This is knowledge and these are skills that are needed and useful each and every day. I admit to bias, as I know Randy and A.J. and have trained with them several times. They are outstanding instructors...teachers if you will... and fine people to boot. Congrats and a Thank you for presenting this class.
  12. LOL. I wish I could! But as I live in suburbia my neighbors (withing whose yards those cedars grow) may frown on that! From what I've read the Granny Smith's and Honeycrisps are supposed to be cedar blight resistant. We'll see, eventually. I have a bed that historically grows great cukes. My dear wife, in her over exuberance last year filled that particular bed with way too many tomatoes (for us). Hopefully I've negotiated the use of that space with the promise of many jars of Kosher Dill pickles. Wish me luck!
  13. We planted the wrong apple trees back around '09. They were Macintosh and in the Knoxville area apparently very susceptible to Cedar Blight! I didn't know what I didn't know! They finally started trying to produce about 2 years ago...but the blight got the fruits as well as the leaves. I cut them down, dug them up, and replanted with Granny Smith's and Honeycrisps. They're growing... I just hope I live long enough to see "the fruits of my labors" LOL. We have one 16 ft, three 8 ft and one 4x4 ft raised beds and plan to add another 8 ft next month. Love the raised be concept for sure, especially as I age. We placed another order with Victory Seeds (linked previous post) yesterday. There's a 5% discount code from Dec/Jan that still worked. " save5in21 " . I have no idea how long it'll last, but it was good last evening. Our Cukes did terrible last year and we really wanted to can some Kosher Dills, Drat! Hopefully they'll do better this year. You just never know Looking forward to the garden pics this Spring!
  14. Thank you for the detailed explanation @xtriggerman. Wow! What a challenge this must have been! Looks great. I admire your knowledge and skill Sir. And I love old wheelguns, so there's that. I'm impressed that a .38 spl round was made to work. Pretty darn cool.
  15. I did as well. That @Chucktshoes has a twisted sense of humor. I approve!
  16. This is a smart move. I had a bunch of old GI mags that I refurbished in the early part of the Clinton Era ban. I learned to keep extra springs and followers on hand. I've even read recently some Civilian Glock Armorer's complaining that Glock is no longer taking parts orders from them due to the current shortage. I can't attest to the validity of this, but wouldn't be surprised. I've been keeping a box of Glock parts (multiple internals) on hand for a long time now. Lord knows where this'll all go...
  17. Corbon 40 spoken for.
  18. Good clarification and reminder. Thanks. Unfortunately what I have to offer needs to be FTF in West Knoxville as it's a small amount of 40 S&W ammo. I have 32 rounds of Corbon 40 S&W and 1 round of 40 S&W Hydra-Shok. This ammo has been stored indoors, ammo can, for a long time! I haven't owned a .40 since '95! No shipping please. FTF West Knoxville. Like @Omega above, claim here then PM me. Jamie
  19. God Bless you, your little girl, and your family Sir. God Bless all that have shared here. I am humbled, and appreciative.
  20. It seems like everything has been affected by this...everything! We ordered from Victory Seeds last fall. The germination and production has been remarkable in our little raised beds. We've used Johny's for several years and I would still recommend them, but Wow! I'm looking forward to spring's crop of green beans from Victory. Oh, Victory has some info on their site regarding the impact that the COVID restrictions have had on production and business. Link: https://www.victoryseeds.com/ https://www.johnnyseeds.com/
  21. I agree 100% @Omega. Bartering has certainly taken off well in our classified section. It makes good sense. I wholeheartedly embrace the concept. I have a good supply of strike anywhere matches, just because it/they make good sense. I guess I should have stuck back rolls of caps! Good suggestion. Maybe I will when they come back in stock.
  22. It's a difficult situation @RED333. I've slimmed down my caliber selection significantly as I've aged. I have helped family as I can, but there's only so much a person can do. We all know everyone should have seen the potential coming and prepared, but not everyone is of the mindset of the majority here. Like I said, it's difficult my friend.
  23. It's disheartening, but unfortunately it looks to me the "New Norm", at least for the time being. Sad indeed. Thanks for posting the various links @The Legion. Like @RED333 posted. Even though the price is high it disappears quickly. It makes me appreciate what I have and at the same time feel bad for those that find themselves unprepared.
  24. I've experienced this with my well worn G19 in 2015. 50K+ rounds at the time. Glock replaced the slide in very short order. It still ran fine, but my break wasn't as complete as the one in the vid. I didn't even notice it until I went to break down the gun for cleaning after a long range session. (Remember those...back when ammo was plentiful? ) And I still carry and shoot that sucker on a regular basis.
  25. This is an excellent point. I have what I have, but when it comes time to replace? What then? I watched a newly released vid from the Federal CEO this morning. He actually addresses primers (something of particular interest to many of us). He referred to primers as being sold when they are a surplus item. He said all available primers for the foreseeable future (paraphrasing here) would be used in manufacturing loaded ammo. So what will the market demand when they are again available? I'm glad I can handload what I can handload based on the pricing of when I acquired the components, but I have no illusions the cost will be the same when they are once again readily available.
