1. and yet another reason to cast and reload...if you can only gather up the components.   LOL...but you can gather them, it just take a bit of patience and effort. And Good people like David.
2.     It's been a few years, but I've shot a couple or three of those at Rangemaster. Excellent matches, imho.       I'm a bit thick on all of this...but it looks like there aren't really any earth shattering changes as I see it. I plead ignorant if I'm missing something.
3. I'm impressed.   I e-mailed Rob at Accurate and have already received a reply, and the load data.   I sent a similar e-mail to Alliant and hope they'll prove as helpful.
4.     Good suggestion Caster. That I will do.   I am anal about seating depth and OAL LOL. That's why I switched to digital calipers last year.   I've used W231 and AA#2 and really watch the charge closely as they are such fine powders and use a small charge relative to velocity. I would assume N100 is even more of an issue.       Thanks Raoul.   I've seen Green Dot mentioned nearly every place I look for info on American Select.   I realize powders will eventually be more readily available, but the clowns in Washington are through trying to stifle our abilities to pursue our shooting...so I'm trying my best to provide myself with viable options.   Green Dot, 700X, and WSF are on my "locate" list as well. I have Unique and W231 backordered...but you know how that goes.   Thanks again guys.
5. Thank you Caster.   I guess I fell to normalcy basis and thought Unique would always be available LOL.   It'll do me good to learn some different powders. Having used Unique with great results for over 25 years I simply never got around to doing so.   I'm keeping an eye out for the new formula AA nitro 100, as I've seen you post about having good results with it in your reloading. And Yeah, I really like the easy "rolling" feel to the lead 147grainers out of my Glocks. :pleased:   I'm getting very similar accuracy results with my Unique load. I'm hoping to achieve the same with the American select. Time, and experimentation, will tell.       Any and all input is welcomed folks.
6. Hi Folks; I did a search and read over several threads, here and elesewhere. I did find one suggestion of 3.5 grains of American Select for the 147 gr lead bullet. I actually found some of powder available. I was pleasantly surprised. I have been using Alliant Unique 3.9 grs for my Lone Wolf barreled Glocks 19 and 17. I really like the recoil impulse generated with this load. But alas, my Unique stock is down to about 2 pounds. In my search here and over the interweb I've found folks discussing American Select for 9mm over several years. I've just never considered it. But as the shortage of powder and primers shows no signs of abating, I guess it's time start considering it. :) Do any of you have much experience with it? Any load suggestions and experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
7. That's interesting as Brasil and I were discussing this just yesterday. I'd definitely shoot at one of these..."dress code" or not...   Thanks for posting the info Spiffy my friend.
8. Excellent points and explanation on the context of the genesis of IDPA DMark. Thank you.   And good discussion all around.   I joined IDPA in either '96 or '97...my # is in the 900's. But our local (tribal) club had hosted "Tactical Matches" for several years prior. Not "mall ninja tactical"..but trying to replicate useful real world situations. We were able to incorporate "unknown" stage, and even night shoot and BUG stages.   But the sport has grown immensely in that time period, so logistically it would be next to impossible to do these days.   IDPA is a sport (not training), but I would hope folks would use the venue to try and instill sound and logical practices that wouldn't get them injured in a "real world" situation. But I guess we each have our reasons for doing what we do.   I'm curious to see what changes come about, and where the evolution goes.   :2cents:
9. From the ATF website in the link above...these are in the AOW category: If you link the site and scroll down enough there is an explanation...but my limited cyberskills prevent me from being to link it directly...sorry. 10. LOL.   It's David Horowitz. I thought it was excellent satire... unfortunately some idiot staffer in D.C. will think it a great idea. They've never let logic or common sense stand in the way of meaningless legislation before. .
11.   ^^ I've done this before using .4 spl brass...Many years back. They were reasonably accurate up to 7-10 yards in my old Bulldog Pug.
12. Man! Sorry to hear/see you're having so much trouble with this buddy. That bites.
13. I knew that was coming... :pleased:     It looks good Bro...ignore the taunts...they're just out of jealousy.LOL.   Did you clear coat it yet?
14.     Pics yet Brother?
15. Thank you Rusty.
16. I just wanted to add that more than a few Constitutionally Protected Rights were trampled on during this mess.   We don't more of the same.
17. LOL;   I got the same e-mail on the .22.   A buddy e-mailed me yesterday about some primers at Midway....they seem to be averaging about 5-7 minutes from the time I get the e-mail until they are sold out. I guess I just don't know how to actually "embrace technology". I am waaay to slow on the keyboard.
18. Thank you Dolomite.   I was having a similar discussion recently.   While they are no doubt believers in Islamo-fascism, and the acts they committed were beyond atrocious  ...they are indeed U.S. Citizens. As such, they are without a doubt entitled to their Constitutionally Protected Rights....just like all of us here.   They are Domestic Terrorists.
19. That's outstanding Spots. I'm sure your Dad is proud.   Do you /does he ever free range the chickens? or are predatory critters too much of an issue?   I kept a good sized flock when I lived in Missouri eons ago, and I had to constantly be on the lookout for & occasionally shoot coyotes, foxes, and skunks...and a feral dog or two. And mine were in large fenced runs...   But there is nothing quite like fresh eggs from your own chickens.
20. Thanks Spots.  I had taken a look at his books on Amazon and the reviews were pretty decent and also stated having a military background would be helpful. I'll put it in the "next" slot on my list.       Yer right ochretoe..It's a book to study, not just read. :2cents:
21. I just finished Book 5 of the Tate series "299 Day". imho it's the best of the series thus far. I'm mailing it to my son in the morning as he's reading the series as well.   I just ordered "Going Home" that Erik referenced above. I listened to an interview with the author on Spirko's Survival Podcast recently and the book sounds pretty decent.
22. Great job!     Excellent resources btw.
23. We started our garden about 8 days ago.   I have Kentucky Wonder beans breaking through the soil today. Being a bit behind on our garden we picked up a few Bright Lights Swiss Shard, a couple of Jalapeno pepper plants, and a couple of tomato plants from Mayo's (Knoxville). We also planted some beets and carrots...but the weather is so darned unpredictable I don't know how they'll do.   I'm planting some Blue Lake beans, okra, and cucumbers today.   We plant in raised beds...and the friggin rabbits are numerous in the burbs this year, so I'm surrounding all of the beds with chicken wire,,,it's resuable year to year and saved a lot of our plants (on the second planting) last year. Live and learn.     Regarding beans...fwiw...if you want to try some bush beans, I've had great luck with Walmart's "Great Value" dried beans right out of our pantry. The Red Kidney bean and black beans have done remarkably well for us over the past few years. Fresh Red Kidney beans are darned tasty!
24. You beat me to it c.a.willard.   Link below...it's not my cup of tea either, but as long as it's obviously a handgun, you should be GTG.   http://www.atf.gov/firearms/guides/identification-of-nfa-firearms.html#wallet-holster   You gotta scroll down a bit to see the AOW Holsters...
25. I carry .38 spl reloads in my J Frame. They are the "Safe Stop" / Jim Cirillo loads... I use Rainier 148 gr DEWC bullets.   I carry factory loaded 9mm, and have the components to handload equivalents if the need arises.   I've seen/heard the arguments pro and con for many years. We each have to make that decision for ourselves.     but...I have to add...when self defense ammo reaches and stays at $2.00-$3.00 a round, then the decision will have been made for me. Practicing with, and ensuring functional reliability with, your carry ammo is a must. If the ammo you're carrying won't feed and function then you have much more to worry about than whether or not it's factory made.       eta: I didn't vote because my primary option wasn't available and I didn't want to screw up your poll.
