I agree. And if you have your C&R on file with them (no "dealer pricing" on this stuff LOL), they charge an extra $4.00 because the order is less than $50.00. I appreciate Midway, it's a great company with excellent selection and great customer service. But the S&H fees eat you up...whatever handling is...

I'm sorry to hear that ArmyVeteran. Even though I live over in Knoxville and haven't been able to take advantage of all the help and tips you've given folks, I do appreciate the fact you've helped so many members here. Good fortune to you.

Thank you gunlobbyist! This is indeed good news. We still have a lot of work ahead, but as you pointed out in previous threads...one step at a time. And this is a great first step.

.22 LR in stock at cabelas hurry!!!
Jamie Jackson replied to JoeJ615's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Well, if nothing else, this whole "post-Newton Obama scenario" has been a lesson in patience for me. The .22 I ordered is for a buddy that's relatively new to shooting. I know for him, and many, it's a paradigm shift. I have/had backorders the past 6 months with Midway, Graf's, Brownells, and now Cabelas. Many have shipped and I have no personal reason to think the rest won't. These 4 companies have always represented excellent quality and customer service in my experience. Another lesson I've learned is that procrastination is not beneficial. :squint: I've never dipped into my baseline stores, and I'm shooting pretty much the same as before...but there is a certain level of anxiety regarding replenishment of personal stock. Slowly "shootin' stuff" is becoming available... I'll be stacking it even deeper than before. It's my own fault if I get caught short on anything in the future. So, for me? Lesson learned. :2cents: -

Tula small pistol primers...a first date
Jamie Jackson replied to BigK's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
So far that has not been my experience with Tula primers in my Glock 17 and 19. I picked up a 5000 lot case of SPP last fall from Graf's...for $96.00( of course Hazmat...but I had several pounds of powder in the order for offset). They are the Lead Free btw. I just started using them about a month ago. I've had probably 4 failures out of 500 rounds. No better, no worse than what I've come to expect from the Wolf primers I've used the past few years. So that seems like an inordinately large amount of failures, at least from my experience. Have you ever had any issues using CCI primers (fairly hard primers) in your Glock? -
As of 1300 today, Turkey Creek Walmart had a couple of boxes of .38 spl...hadn't seen that in a long time it seems, and several boxes (20 rds) of Winchester 5.56 55gr for $12.99/box. They still consistently carry 40 S&W for $19.99/50rds. I didn't need anything, just picking up an LED light for my 550 press (charged case inspection)...but I thought I'd pass the info along.

.22 LR in stock at cabelas hurry!!!
Jamie Jackson replied to JoeJ615's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
No worries here. I'm just trying to pick some up for a friend. And backorders eventually ship...most of the time anyway. I have backordered powder coming (shipped) from a few months back and at pre- stupid pricing. (Graf's, not Cabelas) Better to have the potential than to miss the opportunity completely. :2cents: -

I received a confirmation on the Win-M22. Looks like it's on backorder with a tentative arrival date of 5/25. -
.22 LR in stock at cabelas hurry!!!
Jamie Jackson replied to JoeJ615's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Maybe I'm just trying to be an optimist...but it sure seemed to last longer than what has become the "norm". If/when this comes in it's for one of my shooting buds anyway...gotta get him out to the Steel Matches. :pleased: -

Thank you my friend. I'll let Neil know right away. Looks forward to the match! :pleased: -
I received the below load data yesterday (while I was at work) from Ben Amonette at Alliant: "With American Select and a 147 gr lead bullet, I suggest starting with 2.9 grs and the max should be approx. 3.3 grs." I do accept that this is cautionary load data. I'll start low and work up and see how it goes. I've flattened a few primers and blow a few cases over the years...enough to have me not wanting to repeat it again...so easy does it. :pleased:

Jamie Jackson replied to dlmeadows's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
OK...I know it's down to the wire...But didn't I read somewhere that there is still a couple of slots open and a few more days before it's closed? My Buddy Neil told me today that his schedule has opened and he'd like to shoot this match. Neil is an ORSA and IDPA Member...I can contact John and see if we can get him classified if he can still get in. Any help appreciated. -
Mass Shooting New Orleans
Jamie Jackson replied to Fourtyfive's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I worked there for 18 years. "This is an extremely unusual occurrence, and we're confident that we will make swift arrests," said Remi Braden, a police spokeswoman. I have to call BS on that statement. It's typical...so much so that it usually doesn't garner much, if any media attention. "swift arrests"...sure you will... razorback is right. But Boy...do I ever miss the food. :yum: -
What happens, medical condition with a CCW
Jamie Jackson replied to runco's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'm an RN and work in an ER. I know there are a few Paramedics on board here as well. It's my understanding the firearms are turned over to peace officers that respond to the scene. I know when I underwent CONTOMS training (Tac-Med), searching for and securing a weapon on a downed officers was one of the first things we we do. You don't want a man that has just been shot or injured "waking up" with you hovering over them...Fight Mode was still on when they went down. From my experience: I've run across a few guns, and tons of knives on folks. I've always unloaded the handguns and secured them in the patients personal belongings bag, labeled it, and made sure a family member took control of it and documented the fact. I've had peace officers as patients, still armed, did the same...but have occasionally turned the firearm over to another officer that was present...who, if it wasn't needed for evidence, returned the firearm to the officer or their family. Knives? they are ubiquitous! Everybody seems to have one. If you are mentally/chemically impaired, unconscious, etc...bagged, documented, labeled the same as all of your personal possessions. If no family is present, the belongings (valuables) are itemized, sealed in a large envelop, and security will lock them in a safe, the receipt stays with the patient's chart until the patient is ready to retrieve them. I've run across many more firearms during the 18 years I worked in New Orleans, but still see them a few times a year here in TN. -
Really a good question. Prior to this madness: $20.00/1000 Tula/Wolf and $26.00/1000 Federal, or there and about. If you order by mail/internet then you have to consider the $27.00+ HazMat and shipping. Bulk purchases or group purchases have eased the pain. Or meet David at one of the gunshows he frequents and save the HazMat fees. It's hard to say what prices will be like when availability is steady again, but they will likely be more than they were. I think we can count on that. You can, with time and effort, still pick up powder and primers at pre-Newton/Obama phase 2 pricing. I know I have and others have as well. Good Luck to you.

backround check for black powder.....
Jamie Jackson replied to a topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I miss America. It was a nice place to live before the Communists took over. -
Yep..and they'll keep doing it as long as people are willin' to pay the scalper pricing. We are our own worst enemies sometimes...
