  1. The Google finally decided to share something cool in my feed. Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee got NADA on this guy!
  2. Heard this yesterday, again. It reminded me, again, of how lucky I am, in so many ways. As bad as many things are, they could be worse. As good as some things are, the ones that REALLY matter couldn't get much better. I have a good woman, good life, good kids, all my parts (most of which still work properly) and I woke up on the right side off the grass this morning. So Happy New Year NES, I hope it's better than you expect. Lee Montgomery Gentry https://pandora.app.link/rKCvcFXZsmb I have days where I hate my job This little town, and the whole world too Last Sunday when the Bengals lost Lord, it put me in a bad mood I have moments when I curse the rain Then complain when the sun's too hot I look around at what everyone has And I forget about all I've got But I know I'm a lucky man God's given me a pretty fair hand Got a house and a piece of land A few dollars in a coffee can My old truck's still running good My ticker's ticking like they say it should I got supper in the oven, a good woman's loving And one more day to be my little kid's dad Lord, knows I'm a lucky man Got some friends who would be here fast I could call 'em any time of day Got a brother who's got my back Got a mama who I swear's a saint Got a brand new rod and reel Got a full week off this year Dad had a close call last spring It's a miracle he's still here But I know I'm a lucky man God's given me a pretty fair hand Got a house and a piece of land A few dollars in a coffee can My old truck's still running good My ticker's ticking like they say it should I got supper in the oven, a good woman's loving And one more day to be my little kid's dad Lord, knows I'm a lucky man My old truck's still running good My ticker's ticking like they say it should I got supper in the oven, a good woman's loving And even my bad days ain't that bad Yeah, I'm a lucky man I'm a lucky lucky man
  3. Link to story: https://www.wvlt.tv/2021/06/05/knoxville-wwii-veteran-turns-100-june-group-wants-you-send-him-birthday-card/ Dude's 100 on 6/12. Story above is kinda thin, but he's in a military nursing home in Knoxville. The local American Legion wants him to get "...hundreds or even thousands of birthday cards." Lets do it! The address is in the article, but for those too lazy to read it: Durward B. Swanson Ben Atchley Veterans Home One Veterans Way Knoxville, TN. 37931
  4. Solar FTW! My bill for April was $36 & change. May looks like about $11, less if it's sunny. We're still adapting, but I expect the rest of the summer to be essentially free.
  5. So do I trade ammo for gas? Or gas for ammo? How much 9mm for a gallon of regular?
  6. I'd ask them what happened and if the answer was BS I'd post feedback as such. In this day and age with virtually instant comms via text, ghosting somebody is incredibly rude.
  7. A different forum I'm a member of has a thread where we post deals found online. Here's the most recent, a cheap red-dot on Amazon for $6 after discount. Mixed reviews, but for $6 each I have 4 coming, due Monday. Others have gotten theirs and seem satisfied... Pinty Pro 1x22mm 3 MOA Red Dot Reflex Sight with Anti-Reflection Devices https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YKH4BR8/ref=cm_sw_r_sm_apa_glt_fabc_T3FW04JJB9BP34WKEJTC?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Use the Code: 82ZCTQLC and it's $5.99 I have 4 coming
  8. I wouldn't risk it. You should bring one of the safes, half the guns, and half the ammo to my house. I'll store them all for free in my climate controlled basement with a concrete floor. I'll even exercise the guns for you regularly. At least until you run out of ammo...
  9. ATF, FBI, NSA, CIA, EPA, DOT, USPS, DOE, DHS, NASA... Does it REALLY matter which alphabet agency it was? Pretty much all the same assholes regardless.
  10. Old guns can have great stories behind them. Fortunately, the family is around to tell this one's
  11. I grew up in the wrong place and time to learn to hunt, NJ in the 80's. This family though, they're doing it right. Three generations (so far) taking their first deer with the same rifle... https://flatheadbeacon.com/2020/12/11/three-generations-one-trusty-old-rifle/
  12. I knew the Henry Golden Boy 44mag rifle with scope for $400 was a good deal. This one sounded good but I wasn't sure:) The Henry is long since comfy in my safe:) blockquote widget
  13. I appreciate the concern. The guy I'm buying from is someone I've dealt with in the past on a forum I am still a member of in New England. His positive feedback score is 68; based on my personal history that's probably 1/3 of the number of deals he's actually made. He will actually have been a member there for 14 years in 3 days. Confidence is high:)
  14. Sent dude a message that I'll take it. He wants a check, so it'll be a couple of weeks before it's here.
  15. Probably not. Looking at it for a truck gun. Have a 10.5" in 5.56 and another in 300blackout. Rather have the 7.5" for the truck. Now, if I was buying it to sell... I guess if I'm a capitalist republican I'd have to sell it for at least $1000, if I was a socialist democrat I'd "sell it back" for a $100 food city gift card.
  16. Seller stated (via pm) that it was initially a stripped lower transferred as an "other" so I'm good to go there. I have lowers to build and assorted parts and a 10.5" upper but this one is kinda hard to pass up. I'll probably sell a PSA rifle I already own just to keep things from tripping over themselves.
  17. Dunno what was once available, but this is one that currently IS. Don't need it, but if the price is as good as it seems on the surface, kinda hard to leave behind. As to the "pistol first" issue, never occurred to me. The second part of that question seems to me to be: "Does it matter what it was before, if it's a pistol when *I* buy it?"
  18. Guy I know has this: 5.56 AR pistol built on a new Anderson lower with a new LPK and Magpul triggerguard. New 7.5" BCA 5.56 upper with excellent used KAK micro flash can. Excellent used knurled and fluted PSA pistol buffer tube. New BCG & charging handle. No brace. He wants $500. Unfortunately it's out of state so it'd have to be shipped, he'd pay shipping I'd pay transfer here.
  19. For those that may need some, ammo seek has this available, I grabbed 500 rounds (max allowed) a few minutes ago. Still waiting for my upper, but I'll have something to shoot. The wolf runs well in my wasrs, but they're wasrs so we'll have to see... https://www.sgammo.com/product/wolf-ammo-sale/20-round-box-300-aac-blackout-145-grain-fmj-steel-case-wolf-ammo-barnaul-limi
  20. I got semi-caught with the 22lr "shortage" a few years back. I had enough but not plenty. Now, I have plenty. Last "scare" I actually gave a few bricks away, actually had enough that I was comfortable trading 22lr for a Henry. Appropriately enough it was a 22:) I've spent the last 4-5 years stocking, at this point I have a couple of years worth of all calibers I shoot at current rates of usage. There's a reason I don't have anything that big, paying $1+ a round for 30.06 makes me cringe. I don't hunt, wasn't part of my formative years, just bought the gun because I figured I should have one, so 2-300 rounds is a 2 lifetime supply for me. They've got a long way to go to get to my house, I don't think they want to (or can) travel that far.
  21. I got the "reload" reference, and one day I may. Today's not that day. Moved down here 6 months ago, bought a 58 y/o house that needs some work and some updating. If I put 200 rounds combined downrange a month I'm doing good. I have an AR I haven't assembled (and by "assembled" I mean "take the upper and lower out of their boxes and attach together") and a 12ga still in the box unfired. I don't have the time to reload, the time to learn, or the finances to buy the requisite equipment. Specific to the 300, it's going to be a truck gun. It will get assembled, tested, sighted in at 50 yards with a holo, put in a hard-side Plano or Pelican case, and go in my truck. It'll come out every couple of months for a mag to verify function, get cleaned, and go back in. Strictly, 100%, an "Oh cr@p, I need a LOT more than a handgun to get home!" kinda thing. I'll be long in the ground before reloading for it will pay off. Everything else, one day...
  22. Reload what, exactly?
  23. Forgot all about ammoseek. Been making the website rounds, I'll add them to the list. I think .75/round is my limit. Not really a inker but sucks having a gun too expensive to take out and play. Probably why I don't have a .50 cal...
  24. I'll shoot whatever I can find, but $1.60/round for the match ammo they have listed is insane for plinking. This is a 10.5" pistol build truck gun, I want "minute of thug" accuracy inside 50 yards, not cloverleaf groups at 200:)
  25. Awesome!
