  1. That is the only time in the course of human history that you will see the words "thank GOD for 22 Jump Street".......
  2. I think the other drivers between Nashville and Oak Ridge would probably appreciate it if you'd keep an eye on the road and not the stage descriptions while you are driving in Friday morning......

  5. I know you were joking and that is how I took it.....I should have stuck a smiley in there so it didn't sound like I was "lecturing" or taking it as anything other than how it was intended.   That is the problem with the written word, and the internet in general,  the intent, ironic humor and sarcasm do not come across the way they would in a conversation where we can see each other's faces and read body language.   No worries, I took it as you intended it and my response was in the same light hearted (if ironic and sarcastic ) mood.
  6. So will eating too many doughnuts but people still do that everyday too....   Yes I agree, in the REAL WORLD you don't get to see it in advance.....but IDPA is not a REAL criminal assault it is a game we play to keep from having to clean the house and mow the lawn one weekend every month. As such...I'd like to see the stages.    If we made a "sport" that was just like the real thing only 3 people would show up....and they'd all go home with bruises and bruised egos.
  7. Any word on when stages will be available on the site?
  8. Good.... since I put you down as a squad preference.....we can discuss Sunday on Saturday.
  9. 2x4s are not needed.  I won't be using those particular targets this time.    If you have extra 1x2s that are about 4 feet high that would be great.      You are shooting the match at ORSA Saturday...right?
  10. A parking valet.....do you know anyone who wants to help direct traffic or park cars? Just kidding.   I'm going to try to get there early to get everything set up and get my car parked up near the range. That way we can line everyone else up wherever we can find a spot. I hope some of these +1s and +2s are car pooling so YOU do not have a headache trying to manage parking for 22 vehicles.    I have target stands, sticks, backers, tac man targets, paper targets, staples, screws, cordless drill, etc....if you could swing an extra stapler that would be great. Prag may bring one and I think he's bringing metal targets too....   If you could handle some tables and portable shade that would about cover it. Maybe a pre class range mow , and a cooler with ice?
  11. Are the stages for the Secret City II match on the ORSA site? If so I cannot find them....
  12. This one is getting closer. This one is taking place at "The Ridge" in scenic Dayton Tennessee, just a short drive from Chattanooga. More info on the facility can be found here.... http://theridgeshooting.com/ .    I have been getting questions regarding equipment. You will need a functional rifle and at least 3 magazines for it (preferably 4). As to gear, a chest rig, battle belt, bag to carry magazines, or just carrying them in your pockets is OK. If you have a rig that already works for you then bring it....if not then this is a good opportunity to experiment and see what does work for you. We have people come to class from different backgrounds. We might have LE guys in duty gear, military types in helmet and body armor , civilians in helmet and body armor , or civilians with a simple bag to carry mags in. Whatever YOU would really use is what YOU should bring.    Our one "rule" is that we do not allow IWB concealment holsters in combination with chest rigs for safety reasons. Concealment holsters are designed to hid the firearm, not to be used in conjunction with a rig that places items right above the holster making the gun hard to get to, and hard to draw. As such we do not allow IWB holsters with chest rigs. If you have a question about your particular setup feel free to PM me here and we can get you taken care of.    Looking forward to this one!
  13. Just got back a form 4 sent in 1st week of Dec 2013 approved July 4 ......Got back Form 1 sent same day in December and stamped received Dec 11 was approved July 11.  So apparently it is about 7 months.
  14. Yes. .22s are fine to qualify with. The range I teach at has rental .22s for HCP classes.
  15. It was an awesome match.....unfortunately my performance was awesomely BAD.....but tomorrow is another day. Very challenging stuff with "no shoot" swingers in front of "drop turners" and "shoot swingers" behind "no shoots" around left handed cover....really devious stuff you don't  see much at other matches and lots of tight shots that make you slow down....or not...... and if not you hit the "no shoots". Note to self....slow down and stop mowing down the "no shoots".....   Great match Hognut...I'll be back for the Music City Cup to get my revenge.... :pleased:
  16. I was apparently in a temporary time warp when I posted that earlier...   yes , they changed it and it is now a B29 instead of the barn door sized B27. Smaller target but closer overall course of fire. You essentially have about an 8" wide and 10" high area to hit to have a perfect score. So basically....if you can hit a pie plate at 7 yards 10 times in a row you are going to probably get 100%.   The 20 rounds at 3 yards and 20 at 5 should be easily attainable by most folks if they pay any attention at all to the marksmanship portion of the lecture. I ran a class today and the lowest score was a 97. NONE of the people in class were serious handgun shooters. But then again I also didn't have any grandmas with J frames either. Nothing against grandmas or J frames it is just that I am perplexed at why people continue to recommend 1 pound guns with 15 poind trigger pulls as a defensive gun to elderly women with arthritis......sorry...just one of my pet peeves.
  17. What in particular are you surprised by?
  18. ANNOUNCEMENT:   One other piece of gear to bring is a 3 pack of large WHITE t-shirts. You can get them at Walmart for a few dollars or at a thrift shop for a few cents.    I will be using Tac Man realistic plastic human shaped targets and in order to know from one shooter to the next where the particular shooter was hitting we will change t shirts out when they get too shot up. Three t shirts per person should be enough. WHITE is the color you need.     Stay tuned for more updates.
  19. Yes, now is the time to chime in if you are planning to attend so we can get a feel for what all we need to have as far as targets, stands, portable shade, etc.    So who is planning to attend?
  20. Just make sure there are no "speed reloads"..... and make sure that nothing is written so that a target can be "Blown up" and kill a "no shoot" and yet  still be a "failure to neutralize" the target that was "blown up".....
  21. I'm sure they will be...they were last year.
  22. This one is getting closer every day....
