The TN/GA/AL Training Group started as a way for alumni of classes taught by Randy Harris to get together and stay current on skills and get some coaching in a one day format at a discounted price from what a normal class would cost. As it continued to grow we opened it up to ANYONE who is interested in coming out and learning some skills and just seeing what it is that we do and meet some new people with the same interests. If you are wanting something in the Nashville area there is @aqil Aqil Qadir at Citizens Safety Academy. He is a Rangemaster certified Master instructor and teaches the Rangemaster Combative Pistol class now and is a solid dude. He’s one of my favorite people. If you are willing to come to Chattanooga I’m also a Rangemaster certified Master instructor and I taught for Suarez International for 15 years. My website is Harriscombative.com . You can see the rest of my info like who I have trained with and shooting experience in my bio on the website.

Was this a "Good Shoot"?
Cruel Hand Luke replied to RED333's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This is why we tell people in class to GIVE A LIMITED STATEMENT establishing that you were the victim of criminal assault , point out the perpetrator ( or perpetrators) point out any witnesses...and then stop talking. No matter how much you might want to talk to the cops to convince them you are a good guy, just STOP. And you can invoke your right to remain silent after that without sounding like a poor impression of a film noir villain. You don't want to say "I ain't sayin' nothin' till my mouth piece gets here...ya see..." Just tell them I want to cooperate but I'm invoking my right to silence . I guarantee 99.% of people have never practiced talking to the police.... so if you have not practiced it, don't try to be good at it right after the most stressful event you have probably ever been involved in. Couple of random thoughts.... You cannot legally shoot people for punching you UNLESS a REASONABLE person would be in fear of grave bodily injury or death. If those factors are absent then it is NOT a good shoot. Now if the guy knocks you to the ground and follows you down to the floor and keeps punching you then YES that is a reasonable fear of grave bodily injury or death. Or if he knocks you down and starts kicking you. Again, grave bodily injury (or death) is a REASONABLE fear there. But no, you cannot legally shoot someone because they punched you and you "let your anger get the best of you". Ask Michael Drejka ....... If you say NOTHING AT ALL then your side of the story will not get told until after they decide you are the perpetrator. Saying NOTHING at all is advice attorneys give to guilty people. Mas Ayoob talks about that as being the advice that attorneys who represent guilty clients give to those clients. Having SOMETHING on record (limited statement that you are the victim) is better than just clamming up and having no say in how the evidence is seen (or not) and collected (or not noticed).... ask Larry Hickey....his ordeal would have been far less time consuming (and $$$ consuming) if he had given a limited statement at the scene. If you cannot control your anger you don't need to be carrying a gun...period. That is part of being a functional adult in society. Here is yet another case of someone who apparently has no hand to hand skills going immediately to his gun because he's mad that he just got punched. If the bad guy does not continue the attack and turn it into a potentially lethal situation then ALL you can do is respond with the same level of force...and shooting him is not the same level of force as a punch. Someone probably should have taught him that in a class somewhere along the line.... -

On Jan 27-29 I attended the Rangemaster Defensive Shotgun Instructor Course at Royal Range in Nashville TN. It is 3 days of intensive shooting and classroom work in learning (as Tom Givens refers to it) The Gospel of the Gauge. Pic shows Tom presenting me with my class certificate and Top Gun award for highest aggregate score in class. -
Pocket dump at the hotel room....Scattergun Technologies (pre Wilson Combat) Professional Model with 13" LOP (Length of Pull ) Stock , Tac Star Side Saddle , Tritium Track Lok Ghost Ring sights and Surefire flashlight fore end. Had this one since 1996 when I got it from Scattergun while they were still located in Nashville so this was a bit of a "home coming " for this particular gun. Also in the pic is Sig 320 Carry w/ Romeo 1 Pro, Smith and Wesson Shield M2.0 and blackjack.

The top 3 in class, Me , Amy Moses , and Greg Ellifritz . The top 2 (me and Amy ) both used pumps instead of semi autos. If I remember correctly she was shooting an 870 with some kind of small red dot (possibly an Aimpoint micro?).She was very impressive with the 870 . Greg was running a Beretta 1301. For more pics and videos you can check out the post I put on Facebook about the class....https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=191490720170239&set=pcb.191494346836543

Patterning our guns... 1 round of 9 pellet 00 Federal Flite Control to the head at 5 yards and 3 rounds to the chest at 7 yards. This is from a 14" Remington 870 Cylinder Bore Choke. You can see that at 7 yards or less the buckshot load is still so close together that it is essentially a pre fragmented solid projectile. You CAN miss at this distance if you do not AIM.

EVENTBRITE LINK The Red Dot equipped pistol is becoming more common in the holsters of law enforcement, military and private citizens and this class is designed to quickly develop confidence and proficiency with the platform. Unlike iron sighted pistols Red Dot equipped pistols have a few quirks and idiosyncrasies that need to be accounted for and trained for. The most high tech weapon is worthless without solid skills to operate it to the full potential. This class will help you develop those skills. Some topics include Grip, Draw, Finding the Dot Faster, Acceptable vs perfect sight picture, Target Focus vs Sight Focus, Trigger control, Tracking the dot in recoil, Target transitions, Shooting on the move, Malfunctions (both with pistol and the optic) , Alternative indexing methods and much more. Required Equipment -Reliable Red Dot Pistol and at least 3 magazines, carry gear, Eye and Ear Protection. We have a few loaners if you do not have a Red Dot pistol and want to attend the class. Ammo Count is 600 Rounds. For safety reasons holster must fit the belt you use and must not collapse when the gun is removed. Holster must cover trigger guard. Serpa Holsters strongly discouraged unless that is your issued duty rig . A rain coat/wet weather gear is also a good idea in case of rain. Date: May 6-7 2023 8:30AM to 4:30PM Price is discounted to from $450 to $400 Payments can be made through Eventbrite or by by cash or check or Electronic payment by paypal or venmo (friends and family option) or by credit card (contact Randy by phone 423 827 9133 or by email at randy@harriscombative.com for CC payment). Otherwise, the class will continue as scheduled rain or shine. Randy Harris is a highly accomplished civilian firearms trainer combining both real world experience with interpersonal violence and over 20 years teaching experience as an instructor.
