CRG-5: ZERO TO FIVE FEET GUNFIGHTING APRIL 1-2, 2017 price: $350 CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE INSTRUCTOR: RANDY HARRIS Instructor BIO : http://suarezinternational.com/randy-harris/ This revolutionary class focuses on integrating the pistol into the fight at zero to five feet. This is what some trainers call "The Hole" and their entire perspective is to "Get Out Of The Hole". We don't worry about "getting out of the hole" because the reality of it is that you won't. Instead, we get comfortable in there...we set up a nice cozy camp there and learn to thrive where other men fear to walk. We make the other guy want to get out of the hole he finds himself in as we start to rip his head right off his shoulders. This will be a very thorough study on how to prevail and not get killed at this distance interval. We will do a great deal of technical work to ingrain the correct skills and then work them extensively via force on force exercises. You have never sen training and information like this before. While I do want to make sure guys are in reasonable condition to handle this, you don't need to be a hard core athlete to do this. We will play hard. . . . but within reason for the attendees we normally have in class. SOME TOPICS: Dealing against the drawn gun. What are all the options? We will look at everything from running away, to drawing and killing him, stabbing him with a knife, to disarming him and shooting him with his own gun. Dealing against the drawn knife. Both from "hold up" type situations to actual attacks. You will deal with them with the gun in hand (this one is really cool), and with empty hands, leading into a draw and shots as part of the fight. Dealing with a fight in hallways, elevators, phone booths and cars. All empty handed, and with one leading to the other. Dealing with more than one bad guy. How to position and maneuver to deny them the advantage, as well as how to immediately escalate and take them out. The combined use of various tools such as knife and gun, knife and light, light and gun, gun and stick. Not only the how, but the why as well. These and other topics will make this one of the hottest classes available to civilian operators. This course requires prior attendance at an intermediate level Suarez International Pistol class. CLASS AND RANGE DETAILS DURATION: 2 days TIME: 9:00AM to 5:00PM AMMUNITION: Approximately 250 rounds (Minimum) and 400 (Minimum) good quality biodegradable pellets. NO STEEL PELLETS. RANGE & GEAR REQUIREMENTS: Pistol, holster, at least two magazines, and the usual range safety gear (ear and eye protection). Bring an airsoft pistol with the necessary gear (pellets, facemask, etc. - all of it is available at http://www.onesourcetactical.com Also Helpful Bring spare clothing appropriate for the weather, including a hat, sunscreen, and bug repellent. Plan to bring lunch, snacks, and water (min 1 gallon per person) for the entire day unless driving to lunch is a viable option from the range location. Bring allergy medication (if needed), a chair (if you prefer), note taking supplies, and a boo boo kit (band aids, gauze pads, antiseptic wipes, antibiotic ointment and tape). You may wish to bring pads such as knee pads, elbow pads, and gloves if the class lends itself to that. This class is the perfect way to get started or would serve as a great tune up for more experienced shooters ! the round count is not super high as this is not just a "learn how to shoot " or a mindless ammo burning class. instead you will learn how to avoid being a victim and how to efficiently and effectively win the fight if you have to fight. CRG-1: PISTOL GUNFIGHTING april 29-30 , 2017 price $350 CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE INSTRUCTOR: RANDY HARRIS Instructor's Bio All training must begin with fundamentals. This comprehensive fundamentals class is designed to prep you for the more advanced courses such as Close Range Gunfighting. Through a carefully designed and detailed curriculum we are able to bring you up to a level of skill in a short two day class that previously would take over 4 or 5 days to achieve at other schools. You will learn a complete presentation of the modern combative technique of the pistol which will put you in good standing for any defensive situations you may encounter in the real world. We will also be incorporating fundamental Point Shooting techniques which will prep you for the more advanced courses such as Advanced Reactive Gunfighting. You will learn the components of various point shooting methods and integrate them into your existing skill sets. This knowledge will put you in good standing for any defensive situations you may encounter in the real world. No experience or prior training is needed to attend this class and it is specially suitable for beginners, or as a tune-up for accomplished shooters. Possibly Moving To TN - Some Questions
Cruel Hand Luke replied to Jaber6's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
As someone mentioned before, lots of people fed up with the stifling situations in their repressive states like California and Massachusetts move to states that are less restrictive like cities in the South. They move there for the lower taxes, more freedom and less restrictions , lower crime and better standard of living. But when Election Day rolls around they tend to still vote the same way their parents and grandparents always did back where they came from and pretty soon the new place starts looking just like the overtaxed gun banning crime infested $hithole they left behind..... They don't realize that the way WE vote is why our state is where they want to move to and the liberal politicians who claim to want to "take care of you" are who create the mess they moved away from. -
Possibly Moving To TN - Some Questions
Cruel Hand Luke replied to Jaber6's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well the first thing is there is no FOID card to have to get here. You simply pay for guns and ammo and take it home...There is a background check on firearms purchased from a dealer but not from individuals. But that is the same every where. You can own NFA items (Machine guns , Silencers, Short barrel Rifles and Shotguns, and AOWs.) Carry permit is shall issue and you can even carry in your car without a permit. And the counties and cities cannot pass more stringent laws than the state laws...and it looks like Monkey Lizard posted his answer while I was typing..... -
TN Legislature Gun Bills
Cruel Hand Luke replied to 300winmag's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I get so freakin' sick of hearing this crap.... Do some research on the Kruger-Dunning effect and you'll see why we think that people are better off having some training in safe gunhandling. It essentially states that the less people know the more they THINK they know and the more they do know the more they realize they don't know everything. So essentially the untrained think they know everything and act as if they do. They simply do not know how much they don't know. The trained people realize they don't know it all and act accordingly. THAT is why people who have extensive training backgrounds recommend people get some training. Having seen literally thousands of people shoot at public ranges and in HCP classes and having seen hundreds of people who have had training handle guns and shoot I have a pretty firm conviction based on those experiences as to who I'd rather have walking the streets armed when I and my friends and loved ones could be down range. I guess learning to swim never saved a life and is a useless endeavor and only serves to line the pockets of those who provide swimming instruction ???? -
And hits on target is more effective than misses....that is the bigger issue. Why is it that the British SAS and SEALS don't complain about 9mm effectiveness putting people down but people who never actually train with pistols say 9 is useless.....maybe it has to do with actually hitting what they aimed at? In fact Bill Davison (former British SF) goes as far as to say that if 9mm doesn't work then all his ammo must have been defective as everyone he shot with it died. A big part of it is simply that the military spends little resources on pistol training for the average soldier. Very few soldiers actually ever use a pistol. Unless they are an MP or in a specialized unit very few guys in the military use pistols AT ALL much less with any regularity. Pistols don't win wars and as such the military spends little resources on training for them with the exception of some specialized units. There are probably 100 support people for every trigger puller and those support people get virtually no training with pistols and the actual 11B (infantry) troops get very little . In fact a good friend of mine who was in the INFANTRY in Desert Storm said after basic training he doesn't even remember SEEING a pistol except on the hip of some higher level officers or MPs. So if few people carry them and even fewer get regular realistic training with them then no wonder there is little confidence in it. As to Sig320 getting the nod over Glock ....the army likes external safeties so that non dedicated personnel (who get little to no training) are at least theoretically less likely to accidentally shoot themselves and others.

RED DOT COMBAT PISTOL SCHOOL MARCH 24-26, 2017 DAYTON, TENNESSEE PRICE : $500 INSTRUCTOR: RANDY HARRIS A few years ago, Suarez International began experimenting with the addition of a mini-red dot sight on a Glock 17 slide. That research culminated in the current system which opened a new door to combat shooting skills. Head shots at 25 yards, body shots out into rifle distances and an increased speed and surgical accuracy at room distances are just a few of the benefits. Fight At Night : Defensive Concepts for Dark Environments Date: Saturday March 4 Time: 3PM - 11PM Location: The Ridge Dayton TN. (http://www.theridgeshooting.com/) Price $180 cash or check. ($80 Deposit to hold spot / balance due night of class). Instructor: Randy Harris This rarely offered class will cover some critical skills which include shooting with and without the help of flashlights in low or no light. We will work both proactively challenging unknown potential threats and reacting to unexpected close range attacks in low light settings. You will see just how much light you really need to accurately shoot by and how much light you actually need to ID targets. We will also cover manipulating the pistol in the dark both with and without a light in our hands. We will load , unload and clear malfunctions with and without flashlights. A fair amount of time will also be devoted to using the flashlight as a tool to help you get deselected in the "pre fight interview" , use the light as a distraction device and impact weapon, and as a bridge from less lethal to lethal force. Range Gear and requirements : Handheld flashlight (Surefire 6P, G2, Streamlight Scorpion or similar). Extra batteries. Pistol and holster designed to be worn on the belt. Two spare mags (3 total minimum) and a mag pouch. Range Safety gear (eye and ear protection) . Clothing appropriate for weather. Snacks and drinks. Ammo: Approximately 250 rounds. If you have a weapon mounted light for your pistol and want to use it for some drills then please bring it too. If your carry pistol has a light that is fine too just make sure it fits your holster. If you have a "blue gun" or airsoft gun and training knife you want to bring feel free to do so. We will be doing some interactive exercises where students will play the role of both good guys and bad guys to get a better feel for just what each experiences when the techniques are applied in low light. If you don't see it from both sides you only know about half of what is going on. A $80 deposit will hold a spot for you in this class. Balance due at class. We are limiting it to 16 students so you might want to get your deposit in soon. To register or for more info either PM me here at TGO or email me at Cruelhandluke2000@yahoo.com. Hope to see you there! Some Bio info and some of my training resume.....http://www.suarezinternationalstore.com/instructor-randy-harris.aspx

Shot with .357 sig
Cruel Hand Luke replied to White Goodman's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Ahhh the dreaded " 1 shot stop list".... Considering that firing bursts (multiples of 2 to 4 ) and then assessing has become the norm now for many, you have to wonder just how many people would have stopped from 1 but could not physically fall down fast enough to keep from absorbing the other 2 or 3.... We pretty much know at this point in the game that about 1/2 of the people that get shot stop after 1 or 2 hits no matter where they are hit or what they are hit with. That is a psychological stop not a physiological stop. Most people just do not like being shot and want people to stop shooting them so they stop what they are doing....So ALL handgun calibers generally stop HALF of folks with 1 or 2 rounds..... The problem is that the other half of people DON'T stop with 1 or 2 shots . At that point the typical service cartridges 38sp, 9mm, 40SW, 45ACP,357 Mag , 357SIG, tend to require a lot fewer follow up shots than .22 , .25, and .32 and .380. The bad news is that there is no way to determine from one individual to the next HOW MANY it will take to stop any certain individual. So if we use a service caliber, and engage with multiple rounds as "plan A" then we tend to have fewer failures to stop. -

JUST A FEW DAYS TO GO! -
If the federal govt can say we CAN....... then they can say we can't. Would i like to be able to travel to some "occupied" states and see historically significant stuff like in Boston and Washington DC and still carry a gun? Absolutely. But moving CCW which is a state issue under the purview of the federal govt leaves open some very unsavory possibilities in the future. Now, if it is simply a matter of writing a bill that does NOTHING other than compel states to recognize all licenses (like drivers, marriage, etc...) issued by other states then it MIGHT be OK. But I have real concerns with the unintended consequences that might come to light when that door gets opened.

Probably...but nationwide permitless carry happening is probably about as likely as the democratic party adopting a militant PRO 2nd amendment stance as a party platform....... After giving this some thought I may have a solution (though some will still hate it ). Adopt constitutional carry AND still have a permit, but an "enhanced" permit like Mississippi. That way EVERYONE can carry without a permit inside TN and if that is all they want to do - the bare minimum - then they can do that. But then also offer a permit that would cost money and require training that would then allow you to carry in places in TN that you presently cannot carry and allow you to carry in other states that offer reciprocity.
-
Honestly my biggest concern with constitutional carry is what effect it will have on reciprocity with other states now and what effect it would have later if nationwide reciprocity gets passed. I'd rather have to get a permit to carry here and be able to carry in other states than not have to get a permit to carry here but not be able to carry elsewhere. For those of us that travel a lot that is kind of a big deal.
