  1. Right now looks like maybe 6 OR 7 students.
  2. Rangemaster Core Skills Test shot today 5/6/21 Target points 198 / 200 total time 27.64 seconds for a total score of 143.26 (Score is derived from points divided by time x 20 ) 80 - 100 = Very Good / 100 -124 = Advanced / 125+ = Master
  3. Five Yard Roundup shot cold (first thing I shot- no warmup) Today 5/6/21 . Score was 98 / 100 Five Yard Roundup is shot from 5 yards and is 4 strings of fire. #1 From concealment 1 round #2 From Ready 4 rounds #3 From Ready 3 rounds Strong Hand Only #4 From Ready 2 rounds Weak Hand Only Par time for each string is 2.5 Seconds. Pass or Fail on the time and then calculate the score on the target.
  4. This one is coming up in 10 days !!! For those who need ammo for class I will have some 38special available. So if your reason for not taking the class is lack of ammo availability then get signed up because you will have ammo .
  5. Ammo simply equals opportunity. If you only have 5 rounds then you only have 5 opportunities to change the behavior of how ever many persons that need their behavior changed. Also pistols are simply harder to shoot accurately under stress than rifles or shotguns. Assuming that we might degrade 25% under extreme stress (some way more and some way less dependent upon recent relevant training and level they have internalized that training ) then we may not have 5 HITS to distribute among the bad guys. So it is pretty imperative that if we are going to roll with a limited capacity gun then our skill needs to make up for the deficiency in capacity. Especially when the trends are toward about half the time there being more than 1 bad guy. And a revolver reload is not something we often see happen in close range gunfights. Typically it is over one way or the other with what is in the first cylinder (or magazine of an auto pistol) ....that means you are most likely going to win or lose with what is in the gun. I'd simply prefer to have more opportunities in the gun than less and a 10 -15 opportunity pistol gives more chances of stopping someone than a 5 or 6 shot pistol. Math is math and it does not take the day off. AJ mentioned Tom Givens. When Tom and I met back in Jan 2006 he was still carrying a 1911 and 2 spare mags. By Jan 2007 he had switched to a Glock 35 and 2 spare mags. I asked him why he gave up the old technology and he said that he was about 97% as good with the G35 as he was with the 1911 and that the 1911 was a "2 person gun" where as the G35 was a "3 person gun" and with the crime data in Memphis showing about 3 multiple assailant aggravated assaults per day he felt better with more bullets than less bullets. As for me all that time I was rolling with a G34 with 20 in the gun and a spare 19rd mag. I kidded Tom that it was really me that had pushed him over the edge to the dark side and the G35. So what does all this mean? Whatever you want it to. I have no ego investment in what anyone carries. But simply put more ammo means more chances to change behavior and less time reloading. Having to reload mid gunfight suck and having to do it one handed because you are injured sucks even more. So I prefer to have enough on board capacity in the gun to solve most problems short of alien invasion or zombie apocalypse without having to reload. But then I'm more concerned with the folks that don't choose to stop than I am with the "statistical average".
  6. This one is coming up in just a couple of weeks !
  7. If you like historical stuff there is the "Historic district" with its cobblestone streets and houses dating to the 1700s. The Castillo De San Marcos is the fort erected in the late 1600s to defend the bay against English privateers. The Pirate and Treasure Museum has some cool exhibits. The Bull and Crown Pub (English pub) and the Taberna del Caballo (Spanish tavern) have great ambiance. The Columbia Restaurant is fabulous . Then there is the Fountain of Youth and the living history exhibits there. The wife and I love St Augustine.
  8. OK . If the frames and grips are EXACTLY the same then it is probably not the hand to gun fit. So try gripping harder with your support hand . The recoil impulse is going to seek the path of least resistance and if you are not gripping the right side of the gun with enough force the gun can move that way as soon as the primer ignites. So try applying more grip with the right hand and report back to us.
  9. The width of the grip of the pistol and where the trigger finger is in relation to the trigger and the grip can effect things too. I'm guessing your 22 has a pretty thin grip. But if your " harder recoiling handgun" is a double stack gun like a Sig 226 or a Glock 17 (or even worse a Glock 21) it could be a combination of the way your hand fits the grip combined with trigger finger placement. I'd really need to see all the variables at play to make a proper diagnosis.

  16. Harris Combative Strategies TN / GA / AL Training Group! On Saturday April 24 we will hold a meeting of the TN/GA/AL Training Group in the Oak Ridge area ! Subject: HOW QUALIFIED ARE YOU ? Instructor: Randy Harris Randy's Bio Location: Windrock 720 Windrock Rd, Oliver Springs, TN 37840 Time: 9AM EASTERN time - 3PM EASTERN time Price: $100 - pay at class by cash or check or Electronic payment by paypal or venmo. Paypal - cruelhandluke2000@yahoo.com Venmo - www.venmo.com/Randy-Harris-47 What you need to bring: Pistol, at least 2 pistol magazines and at least 150 rounds of pistol ammo. Revolvers are welcome if you want to party like it is 1899. We will be shooting some challenging warm up drills and then the Air Marshal , FBI qualification courses and many others. I will also keep records of these (if you are happy with your scores) for future reference and use . This will serve to get your shooting prowess on record by a third party in case it is ever needed in the future in some legal matter. This is also something your church might like to have for their records if you are a member of a church security team. As far as the courts are concerned if it isn't documented it didn't happen so this is an opportunity to get some official scores on paper in case you ever need them . Not only that but it will be a good day of shooting some somewhat challenging and well known courses of fire. This is an EXCELLENT chance to bring someone you know who might need a "reality check" on where their skills actually are. We all know people who are gun owners who keep threatening to get some training. The training days (especially the pistol qual day) are a great way to get them into that and show them what is possible with some directed practice and see where they REALLY are at their present skill level. Looking forward to seeing you there! We will also be there Sunday offering our Technical Pistol Skills one day pistol class...... Technical Pistol Skills
  17. I haven't seen it either but I heard that on the radio and was curious as to whether anyone else knew anything about that.
  18. So is there truth to the rumor that it will eliminate "gun free zones" ?
  19. REMINDER !!!!!!! THIS ONE IS COMING UP THIS WEEKEND !
  20. This one is just a little over a week to go . We still have a few spots available for both days. Hope to see you there!
  21. In reference to catalogs.... Most people don't realize that companies like Natchez use printing companies to print their fliers- they are not printed in house. Those fliers have to be submitted to the printer 3 MONTHS in advance of when they are to be printed. The products in the catalogs are not IN STOCK when the info is sent. It is all based on PROJECTED DELIVERY TIMES from the manufacturers. That is why the catalogs run for a 2-3 month time frame because they expect the manufacturers to send that ammo to them some time within the time period that the catalog is good for. The problem in the last 6 months is that by the time the catalog gets printed and mailed it is already obsolete because market forces have driven the prices up and nothing is in stock because inventory is hard to get due to historically high demand. So when you get the catalog in your mailbox it is essentially 4 months old. Back in the 1990s savvy buyers used to get a subscription to Shotgun News and that was how we found deals on machine guns and ammo to buy. But the internet largely killed Shotgun News because now by the time you got Shotgun News in your mailbox it was essentially a month old and all the good deals were already gone because someone already saw them advertised on a bulletin board like Sturmgewehr or Subguns.com. Back before the internet and instant advertising it didn't matter that it was a month old because it was a month old for EVERYONE and NO ONE knew about the ads until they opened their mailbox. But once the internet came along now folks with internet access could see what folks had in inventory before the paper copy ever arrived in the mailbox. Same as with the catalogs from the companies like Natchez now. Right now because of the off the scale demand and historic buying that is going on all over the industry the catalogs are obsolete before you get them because when these companies get shipments that this time a year ago would have lasted 60-90 days they are gone in 4 to 5 hours. And you can thank internet bulletin boards for that when people post it on Reddit that someone has ammo and buyers descend like locusts and buy 2700 cases of 9mm in 4 hours. AND finally the distributors like Natchez use "Coop Advertising" which is essentially the manufacturers buying ad space in the catalogs. So if Winchester pays Natchez to advertise 3040 Krag then Natchez is going to advertise that. If Winchester never sends any 3040 Krag then Natchez has no control over that. If Simmons pays them to advertise a new scope that has not made it into the country yet then they are going to advertise that scope even if they do not have it in stock.
  22. This one will be a combo pistol and shotgun day culminating in a two gun man vs man (or woman) battle for intergalactic domination ! After a quick "pulse check" shooting drill to see where your cold skills are we will work on shooting on the move with pistols and work on shotgun skills and then finally test your skills in a 2 gun intergalactic death match shoot off. Also I will do my best to bring some ammo for you to be able to replenish what you shoot. Hope to see you there!
