  1. What you may do legally today (own a gun, practice a religion, buy a 42oz big gulp) my be illegal tomorrow
  2. The most horrible monsters known to man---Politicians
  3. There's always hope  :dirty:
  4. Thanks Leroy. I can always count on someone on here to articulate my thoughts better than I can. Glenn
  5. Have you read the BS that is going around about how all the copies of the Declaration of Independence got the punctuation wrong and the founders were really for big government?
  6. I used to know a guy that drove those trucks. He alway had a bunch of really strange 38 special +p+ rounds with little cone shaped bullets. They were supposed to be depleted uranium or titanium or some other  weird stuff. Been too long ago to remember.

    The old days

I was trying to tell my kids about Bill Cosby. To them, he is just a babbling old liberal, but his early comedy was really funny. Fat Albert (not the cartoon) and buck-buck. That was some funny stuff.
  8. Finally called Ritchie this morning. They were supposed to call me Thursday. Talked to the service manager. He went off for a long time, came back and told me the mower needed a new carb. That set me off. Told him I was not paying for a new carb. He called back in a few minutes and said, "oh, it doesn't need a new carb after all it will be fixed and ready to pick up Monday. I never authorized fixing anything else. His answer was if they call with a quote and you don't say no that is an authorization. I couldn't hear much else since my wife was screaming at the phone. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  9. I certainly realize that there are different quality levels in mowers, as in everything else. I wasn't the least bit surprised that the steering gear stripped. Hey, our yard is rough. I was more asking about the dealer's service practices. They are now telling me the PTO clutch is bad. another $225.00. If I have to pay $8,000 for a lawnmower that will last more than 3 years, I will just start having someone else mow the yard.
  10. My first thought was no oil, but I checked and it has oil. Don't think I will own another JD. Mine has the auto transmission which I have since learned will probably be the next thing to fail. I was scheduled for pick up first thing Monday. they finally got it today. GRRRRR
  11. Took my John deere mower to Ritchie Tractor in Knoxville (the JD dealer) for some minor service and Maint. Got a call in a few days that it needed much more than it went in for, including a leaking head gasket. went ahead and had everything done. It's a nice mower and I was planning on keeping it for as long as possible. finally picked it up a week later (friday). Saturday I started mowing, everything running great. 45 minutes in. mower suddenly stops and won't start. I look and seems motor is locked up tight. I call Ritchie and they say bring it back in but since I don't have anyway to haul it this week they agree to pick it up Monday. Now it is late tuesday and it is still sitting in my front yard. Every time I call I get true same story. We are running behind, but we will get it tomorrow. i am trying to remain calm because once I get mad it is not a pretty sight. Sorry, needed to rant.
  12. When I was a youngster my best friend had a bulldog that loved to lay in a kiddie pool full of water. He would hang his head over the side and lay there for hours. Problem was his neighbors had a pool. The dog would push under the fence and jump in, and go straight to th bottom and just sit there. The owner of the pool would jump in and pull the dog out. About the third or fourth time the dog jumped in the deep end and the pool owner about drowned getting him out. He promised next time he wasn't going in after the dog, so my friend had to start tying up the dog. We never did figure out if the dog couldn't swim or just wouldn't .
  13. I have friends that have a terra cotta roof. It has been major repairs twice in 25 years. I think too much shade. Moss grows on the tiles and they get soft. Our church has a slate roof. Built in 1960 and is getting close to needing major repairs. For years it has occasionally lost a piece of slate that had to be replaced, but the hailstorm a couple of years ago really hurt it. If you don't mind the look of it, go metal .
  14. I want a lever gun in .357 max. And someone to make the cartridges again
  15. That would have been an interesting thing to ask his opinion
  16. Justice Antonin Scalia was at UT Law School today. My son went to his talk. Someone asked the Justice what decision he was most proud of. His answer, District of Columbia v. Heller. He also stated that anyone that thinks the second amendment only applies to the national guard is a complete moron. we need a few more Justices like Scalia
  17.    Some folks need to have one blow up in  their face
  18. So far I am pleased with the results in my left eye. My Dr has quit doing the multifocal lens implant. He said he has seen too many people not satisfied with them and gets quite a few new patients wanting to have them removed.
  19. It is a lot of money. My medical insurance would cover a lot of the cost but we have a huge deductible , so it is all out of pocket
  20. Dr.warned me ahead of time I would still need reading glasses. I am having Torix (sp) lenses to correct astigmatism. Before the surgery I had multifocal glasses but nothing was really clear, so I am hoping for the best.
  21. Have any of you other geezers had cataract surgery? How did it affect your shooting?I just had one eye done and the other scheduled next week. I am  hoping it will improve my shooting, since I had gotten to the point my vision was blurry even with glasses. The most surprising thing is the change in brightness and color. Didn't realize what I was missing.
  22. Years ago some low life kicked in my door. Went back with a stave core door ( solid wood strips glued together and covered with veneer, 2 deadbolts with super strong strike reinforcement. Came home one day and someone had obviously spent quite a while kicking and prying on the door without success. So they hooked something to a window and pulled the entire window out of the house. Lost my stuff and had a huge repair bill.
