I am looking for a suggestion as to a good powder for a snubnose 357 load. Went to the range tonight with some loads that I used years ago. 15 gr. of bluedot with a 110 gr JHC bullet. I actually used to use 16 gr but I am not the masochist I used to be. These shoot fine in my 4.5" barrel Blackhawk but in my S&W 686 snubnose they produce a blinding muzzle flash. Anyone have a suggestion for a powder more suited to a short barrel? I don't necessarily need the exact load just a powder suggestion and I can look up a starting point and work up a load Thanks Glenn

JHatmaker noticed my signature and suggested I start a thread on the Second Amendment March, so here it is. How many here have heard of this? If you haven't, it is a planned march on Washington in spring 2010 to show Congress, the president, the Supreme court, the news media and the public that we believe in the 2A and are not going to stand by while it is gutted. There are also going to be local marches all over. I urge you to check this out. We need this. I am already planning to go. Just google "second amendment march to see what is going on. Glenn

As of 5:30 Tuesday the Wallyworld on Chapman had 4 100 round value paks of 9mm for 19.95 each, a box or 2 of 38 and 32 and some 45 and 44 mag. I got the last 3 boxes of Blazer 9mm. Glenn

Thanks. The 910 is almost new. I have just shot 1 box through it but think I am really going to like it. My favorite to shoot is the Blackhawk. I even used it at my carry permit class. Folks gave me a hard time about using a single action, but I think I had the best score in the class. Glenn

Since I finally took the time to figure out how to post pictures, I thought I would post a few of some of my guns. Nothing fancy but I like them Glenn

Just getting back into reloading after a long layoff. The last entry in my records was 1987. I thought I would post a picture of my new reloading area. Glenn

I have just recently started shooting at indoor ranges. What is the accepted etiquette on picking up my brass? With several shooters so close together the empties are flying everywhere. I don't want to just leave my brass although it seems like everyone else leaves theirs. My last trip I was picking up the brass from my lane and it seemed like several people were looking at me odd. Do you pick up your brass? What about the ones that are outside your lane or in your lane but from another shooter? Glenn

Any ideas for improvements on this thing?
Glenn replied to VolunteerGuns's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I like the idea and especially what the cards say. As a printer I will make one small suggestion. Take off the black line around the edge. When the cards are cut it is almost impossible to get an even margin that thin around the edge. Better if the white goes to the edge or the black hangs (bleeds) off the edge. great idea Glenn -
There is a big difference between "being right" and doing the right thing. Try to explain to a bunch of school kids why they should look before stepping into the crosswalk. They say the cars have to stop for us. They are right but the right thing to do is look before you cross the street so you don't get run over. Being right doesn't help much if you get run over or have a bullet in your head. Glenn

Was the security guard armed? If so, I would do as he asked and deal with it exactly as you did. A friend's daughter and her boyfriend didn't obey a crazy security guard fast enough and were both shot. They were right and he was wrong but they are still shot. Glenn

Ordered a Supertuck and some extra mags yesterday. Went to Gunny's this afternoon and shot a couple of boxes of Speer lawman 115 gr. through the new 910. Sweet. Glenn

I added it and my 686 as my avatar. Says I cannot post attachments Glenn

Just picked up a new S&W 910. I don't know a lot about this model but it feels really good in my hand. Can't wait to get to the range and try it out. This will probably be my carry gun most of the time, so I will be looking for a good holster. Considering a Supertuck. I know holsters are very subjective but is that a good choice? Glenn

The right is not changing their positions, it's just that the government is moving farther and farther away which makes us seem more to the right. If that report defines right wing extremists, then I guess wear the label proudly. Glenn

A lot of really big things start small, like, let's dress up like Indians and throw their tea in the ocean. There is a lot of simmering discontent. Glenn

Obama approved? BULL! Notice there was not a word from Obamessiah until the operation went well. If something had gone wrong it would have all fallen on someone else. Glenn

Is World's Fair Park in Knoxville an actual city park? In other words is it off limits to carry? Glenn

I removed the grip and the screw was tight. I removed it and the end does not look like it has been filed or stoned. The spring also does not look like it has been worked on. I did notice that the slightest release of pressure on the trigger causes the firing pin to back up slightly. I don't know if that is normal or not. I don't have much experience with double action revolvers. I wonder if perhaps it is different technique between 357 and 38 loads and I am just easing off the trigger or something. Glenn

sorry, double post

I will check the screw. Is there any way to tell if the spring has been replaced with a weaker spring or will I just have to replace it with a new one. Glenn

I recently bought a used S & W 686-3. It has reportedly had an action job and does have what seems to me a very smooth and light trigger. I have shot a couple of brands of .357 and some handloads that I had for several years, without a failure to fire. I just bought 1000 rounds of Magtec 38 special for practice and have been getting 1-2 failures to fire from each 6. The primers are dented but not very deep. My first thought was that the ammo was bad but they fire without fail in my Ruger Blackhawk and TC Contender. Should I have the 686 looked at? Would this be a weak spring? Glenn

I have been hearing a lot of noise about guns from the U. S. going to drug cartels in Mexico and don't really know what to think about it. I am sure a lot of it is liberal media bull. A lot of the cartel's guns are coming from the Mexican military. However I know there are some people that would sell gas to a man with a lit match in his hand just to make a dollar. If people are knowingly selling guns to Mexican drug cartels then they are not friends to American gun owners and need to be held accountable. They are only fanning the flames of the anti second amendment crowd. It seems a simple solution would be to close the border. No guns to Mexico, no illegals or drugs to the US. What is so hard to understand about that?

Thanks. I will use care.
