  1. I guess if you can't afford to shoot a Barrett, you can't afford to shoot this
  2. "Pork fat, it's a beautiful thing." Emeril Lagasse
  3. It sounds like even a paintball gun or an airsoft gun is illegal in the city. Glenn
  4. Wow, I never thought about air guns being illegal in the city. Since much of my youth was spent in the city limits, if this has been on the books for a long time I must have violated this around 15,000 to 20,000 times. Glenn
  5. Strelcevina, I am glad you were able to come to this country, but most here are of the opinion that there are plenty of socialist countries. The world doesn't need another. At least not the United States. We want to keep it free. However, you are entitled to your opinion. Opinions are like as**h*les. Everyone has one but a lot of them stink. Glenn
  6. I agree. Prices are too high but I was desperate to find some that day. I don't even have a .45 but the chance to shoot some uncommon guns made me decide it was worth it. Glenn
  7. I did. found some at Dick's. 150 for $69.00 or something like that. Got to run a few mags through a "grease gun." A lot of fun. Glenn
  8. WATE in Knoxville reporting the same. A judge in Nashville today found a law that allows handguns in Tennessee bars and restaurants unconstitutional, due to being too vague. That sucks Glenn
  9. Does anyone know a place in the knoxville area that might have bulk 45 acp? I have a chance this weekend to shoot a Thompson and a grease gun if I can get some ammo but can't afford much at the prices I have been finding. It's too short of notice to order from out of town. Glenn
  10. YouTube - Johnny Winter - Johnny B Goode - Albert Hall 1970 YouTube - Johnny Winter - Tell The Truth - London 1970 Won't embed I have listeded to a lot of others but always come back to the greatest blues guitarist Glenn
  11. I've never seen it done on a gun but have seen a mechanic use dry ice to freeze a stuck bolt. Metal contracts when cooled and it shrunk enough to turn out easily. If you have never handled dry ice, don't touch it with bare skin Glenn
  12. Wow. never thought I would stir up this much interest. A lot of good suggestions. I always thought of gold and silver more as a means of keeping wealth through a seriously declining economy. I agree it wouldn't be much good for barter. Most food is difficult to store for a long time unless you want to live on emergency rations so it can be rotated. Heirloom seeds seem like a good idea. I agree you would have to be careful who you traded it to. maybe I should get Popcorn's video and brush up on how to make moonshine. That would probably be a good barter item and would probably drive a good many to the tp market. Glenn
  13. I have been thinking a lot lately about which shtf scenario is more likely. A lot of people seem to think it may be the collapse of the dollar and I have heard several "experts" lately say you should have some of your investments in something that can be bartered, like gold. I am thinking in a shtf situation very few thing would be worth more than ammunition. I know we are just getting over a run on ammo, but I think most people were buying for themselves. What does everyone think of ammo as an investment? Glenn
  14. or what's his name that loves Obama Glenn
  15. Yes, but it is only a $50 fine. Possible $50 fine vs. possible loss of life doesn't seem too hard of a decision. Glenn
  16. Anyone that thinks illegal aliens won't be covered under Obama care has reality blinders on. Just because the bill prohibits it, without a method of enforcement, means nothing. It is also quite illegal to walk across the border and stay in this country. (Thus the term "illegal alien" for those that need help understanding things like that.) But illegal or not millions do it and are rewarded with government services and amnesty programs. Glenn
  17. My favorite question came from Bob Booker to the Vice mayor. It went something like this. "Do we have to listen to everyone that wants to speak?" Glenn
  18. Correct, but this is when we have the best chance to affect how council members will vote and make our voices heard. Glenn
  19. On Thursday Sep 3 at 5:00 pm the Knoxville city Council will consider removing the long time ban on Park carry. The sponsor withdrew the bill to opt out of the State law allowing Park carry since Knoxville has a older ordinance banning Park carry Thursday is a workshop to consider removing the older ordinance. Please try to attend, we need to have as big a crowd as possible. Council Member Steve Hall has made a motion to repeal the old ordinance banning the right to carry from city parks. There could be a chance to allow carry in Knoxville parks, but we need a huge turnout. Glenn
  20. Sorry, I didn't realize this had already been posted. Glenn
  21. I just received this from the Mayor. It looks like the council won't even consider it "I am writing to keep you in the loop regarding the guns in parks issue. When I last corresponded with you Knoxville City Council had postponed a vote on exercising the "opt out" provisions of the law passed during the last legislative session. This provision allowed those with legal permits to carry in city parks. The resolution addressing this matter was scheduled for a vote at the August 25th City Council meeting and a workshop was set for August 20th. However, in reviewing the law and related documents the City Council Attorney and the City Law Director have concluded that the city ordinance that outlaws firearms would remain in effect regardless of any council action because the provisions of the newly enacted state law "shall not affect the validity of any ordinance or resolution lawfully enacted prior to April 8, 1986." The Knoxville city ordinance outlawing firearms in parks was passed well before that date. A Council workshop is scheduled for August 20th at 5PM to hear from citizens and to discuss this matter. Thank you for your support of the second amendment and your interest in the guns and parks issue in Knoxville. I am committed to upholding our second amendment rights." Glenn
  22. Just heard that Lamar the soon to be loser, has announced that he will break with Republicans (what's new) and vote to confirm Sonya Sotomayor. THIS GUY IS SUCH A PRICK I can't even bring myself to write him anymore. He has to go next time he is up for election. Glenn
  23. When I got there the only way in was through the metal detectors. I am pretty sure carry is prohibited anywhere in the city-county building. Glenn
  24. In the early drafts of the constitution it was property but was changed to pursuit of happiness because they didn't want the slave states to be guaranteed their property(slaves) Glenn
  25. I went. There is some discussion a few posts ago. after it was delayed one councilman asked for those that came to support opt-out to stand up. I didn't see anyone stand. When he asked those that came to oppose opt-out to stand there were 20-25. We have to get a huge turnout at the workshop on the 20th and at the vote on the 25th. Afterwards some of us stood around and talked. A lawyer named Michael Mollenhour is trying to organize opposition. He apparently knows several of the councilmen. He took my email and and is going to start a mailing list for information. If anyone wants to get on the mailing list they can PM me and I will forward them any information. We have got to have a big turnout. Glenn
