I doubt I can get away. I have to do a lot of cleanup from the hail storm. I thought my Mosin was plenty accurate till I was invited to this competition. The prize is a K98 Mouser, so if I can wring a little better group out of it I want to. Glenn

I do shoot with the bayonet on. I figured out real quick that it shoots more to point of aim with the bayonet on. I have also found that the action screws work loose. I will have to be more careful to check them. What does everyone think of the method for bedding the action that is explained in the link above? Glenn

Thanks for the links. I had not seen the box O'Truth. Think I will try corking. I have seen that suggestion a couple of other places. If I am not mistaken someone on this board found that their Mosin had been shimed with newspaper. Glenn

Thanks Jonnin. As you guessed I have googled and read a lot. I hope someone here has tried before. I may try a slight polishing on the trigger as it is quite heavy and rough. Glenn

I haven't done anything to it. I don't think there is anything wrong with the rifle. It probably shoots as good or better than I do, but I was just thinking I might be able to squeeze a little more out of it so I would know that my shooting is the limiting factor. I know it's never going to be a tack driver. Glenn

Anyone have any experience accurizing a Mosin 91/30? I looked online and there seem to be two schools of thought. Many suggest floating the barrel, but some suggest shimming at the front to dampen the barrel. Any thoughts? apparently I impressed someone with my shooting with my Mosin and have been invited to take part in a friendly competition limited to WWII open sight weapons. I would like to squeeze a little more accuracy out of the old Mosin if I can. Glenn

South Knoxville really getting hammered with hail. Had a few baseball size and a lot of ping pong ball size. We have three cars and a two car garage. Guess who was the last one home. My car is covered with dents. It's too dark to see the roof of the house. Some of our friends lost all the windows on the front of their house and their car windshield. This sucks Glenn

This is so obvious a fake it is laughable. If you open in Illustrator the edit layers are still there. Obama blasted the fact that this was a distraction. He is the one that has dragged this out for so long, and I don't think this mess is going to put an end to it

The only thing we can hope for is that all the attention Trump is getting will force the Rebublicans to give us a decent candidate, which they haven't in a while. Glenn

We all need to open carry, so the sheeple will get used to flashlights. Glenn

I think Nobama probably got his school paid for as a foreign student. That wouldn't look good would it. Trump may not be really going to run but just stirring the pot when nobody else will. Glenn

I don't know if I could vote for Trump or not, but he is much closer to what the founders had in mind. A business person, not a professional politician. Glenn

I will agree that there are some things we can't do anything about, but there is one thing for sure. If we don't know what is going on, we sure can't do anything about it. Sticking your head in the sand and giving up is not going to fix anything except maybe your anxiety. Glenn

Well put Robert, Thank You. Glenn

Even a birth certificate doesn't prove anything unless it is signed by the Dr. and has an official seal. My mother in law was born at home so had no birth certificate. When she needed a passport she was able to get a birth certificate. There was no proof that she was born here, but now her BC says she was. Glenn

Jamie, I agree with what you said except the part about being further up the tree. Trees grow from the top, and out sideways, not from the bottom. It would not be any further up. Glenn

The difference is that in past generations, large numbers of immigrants were not given a free ride. They came here to become contributing members of society, not to suckle at the US tit. I am pretty sure the Native Americans did see things that way. They didn't really give up the country willingly. Glenn

But the world is not upside down....YET. So I guess we should just give away our country to anyone that wants to walk in. Sorry, I don't see it that way Glenn

Cut off all Gov. services and Jail a few CEOs of the companies that hire them. If there is no work they will go home the same way they got here. Glenn

Knoxville court case: use of deadly force outside your house?
Glenn replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The girl friend was probably mad that she had to carry the flashlight. In the dark if someone shoots at you they will shoot towards the light. Glenn -
How close is your home to a nuclear power plant?
Glenn replied to vontar's topic in Survival and Preparedness
57 miles and 6 within 93 miles. I bet I got a lot more radiation from recent cancer treatments than I will ever get from a nuke plant. Glenn -
Along the same line as cooking in a paper bag, you can boil an egg in a paper cup. Just put in the egg, fill to the rim with water and set in the coals. The cup will only burn above the water line so if the level starts going down add a little more water. It is a little dificult to get the cup out of the coals without burning your hand. Glenn
