Very nice looking rifle Glenn. I think you'll really enjoy it. Mine had little to no cosmo under the stock but it's worth breaking down anyway just to oil up the metal underneath. The barrel bands were not particularly difficult to remove, was able to do so with no scratches or flaking of the shellac. Have you thoroughly read the manual? It's a real treat.
It sure is a treat. definitely written by someone with little understanding of english.
Yeah definitely go easy on it. That's a rifle many people, like myself, would be very happy to own. Break the bolt down and clean every nook and cranny. Clean the chamber and extractor relief really well too. I'd remove the action and remedy any active rust hidden by the stock as well. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
So you don't see any harm in removing the fore end? The bands that hold it on are really gummed up.

As long as the Government tits keep giving, it will be impossible to get much change. Romney didn't promise enough "free" stuff. What worries me is when the economy crashes, there will be a "savior" who will promise to fix everything if we will just ignore the way he plans to do it. Think Germany 1930's

I ran some patches and a brush through the bore and it is bright and there seems to be no pitting but I'm not ready to pass judgement on the rifling. I still need to clean it some. My first Mosin I got too aggressive and ended up refinishing it. While I am happy with how it turned out I don'tt want to do that with this one. I have read that some people say don't even disassemble them

The scope number matches the number that is stamped on the side of the chamber, . then that same number is electro penciled on the scope mount. what is actually the serial number, I guess, starts with what looks like AA___,is stamped on the top of the chamber, the buttplate, the triggrguard and is also electro penciled on the scope mount.

I got the Mosin Sniper(depending on who you ask) I ordered from Classic Arms. It is a 42 Izhevsk. The scope is a Progress, which was a Carl Zeiss company. It appears clear, although it was dark outside and I only looked through it in the house. The rifle has a heavy coat of shellac, and the fore end seems to have been rubbed with some kind of dark finish which I assume was to cut down glare. Here are the required pictures. Soon I hope

A friend of mine posted this on facebook. It really sums up the way I am feeling right now. And I quote: "I am over this forever. I will begin making changes in my financial situation now, while I still have the opportunity. Buy American? Only if it is produced in a right to work red state. But I will no longer invest in America, it no longer exists. My next call is to my accountant to find out how I can minimize taxes on my liquidation, and I'm sending it to another country. Fortunately I have relatives out of country who can guide me. My biggest concern is my kids. They don't deserve what is heading towards them like a speeding train. It brings tears to my wife's eyes to think what this country is setting them up for. I don't cry, but I could for them. There is a term that accurately describes the selling of ones virtues for free stuff. It is called whoring and that is what half this country is. And their pimp is the media. I am reminded of the words of Reagan: I didn't leave the democrat party, it left me. In my eyes, I am not leaving America, it has left me. I am contacting my reps, most good men, and demanding they get our troops home. There is nothing left for them to defend so they shouldn't be asked to sacrifice for something that won't sacrifice for them. I have no pride in what this country is now, only memories of what we once were. My kids don't even have that. I am a reflective person, and I might regret these words. But I cannot imagine a scenario where that will happen. PS - Read my signature. We are there. “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.†― Alexis de Tocqueville My ps: I know that quote is incorrectly attributed to Tocqueville

Thanks. My sentiments, I just can't express them so eloquently.

Yes, It is over as far as the country I know and love.
I guess you mean like they filibustered the last two Constitution hating appointments, correct?
exactly!! With Republican senators like Alexander and Corker, it might as well be all democrats. Besides, the senate has allowed themselves to be castrated by Obama's executive orders. He will do whatever he wants and the senate won't do a damn thing.

America just ceased to exist. Amerika has arrived. -
Not arguing with you, Just trying to find out all I can. I went to the mentioned forum and did a search for classic arms. Several threads came up discussing these guns and not one said they are fakes. Everyone that had bought one seemed happy with it, but also didn't seem to be an expert. Again, just trying to learn all I can.

I have been wanting a Mosin sniper model for a while. This would blow my shooting budget for a while, so I am looking for opinions on this. Plus I had to get out of the political forum and back to guns before I went off the deep end. I'm sick of seeing Colin powell endorsing Obama too
Obama loves giving money away.
He just doesn't have much more to give away

This won't play well either, but people should have learned by now if you build on the sea shore or below sea level, you will get washed away.
-
He thinks he can trust Obama's promise to pay for everything. Good luck with that.
You guys kill me.
How's that?

I hope people remember Christie selling out. As far as I am concerned he has blown any chance to run for president as a republican. I hope he is happy with his new Dem buddies.

Fox news is reporting that they have leaked emails that show the Administration knew while the attacks were happening that it was a terrorist attack and watched live from a drone for seven hours without attempting to send help or try to rescue the four americans. I don't know why I am shocked.
