Ouch! Thank you for the update. Finding a good local 'smith to sort it out for you isn't an option? I've been circling a K6s, but this isn't reassuring...
-
You mean with the really dark fur on his head? We get them like that up here. Not all the time, but definitely not rare.
-
Please take some photos of the process and the result and let us know what you think.

Buy a replacement slide stop, cut the right side off, install it. If you don't like it, switch back. I like to practice shooting wrong handed (happens to be lefty for me) so I'd keep it on there. But it's your pistol and I can't really see that change hurting anything, so knock yourself out.

Come think of it, I've always just chalked it to someone stepping on a duck. Part of the reason I always giggle in a Chinese restaurant when I see pressed duck on the menu...

I don't think I've ever heard that before. Without checking a map of their range, I do think we have them up here in MN. Sounds pretty familiar, at least...

Wow, cool! I used to work with a woman who was very into quilting and sewing, that was my first exposure to it beyond simply seeing my Grandma's handiwork. It's not something I'm likely to jump into any time soon, but between the stuff (supplies and equipment and whatnot) the camaraderie and the actual work product, I can definitely see the appeal.

You might have to call around a bit, but it's worth the effort. If you're able, another option would be to buy one used and then sell it if you don't like it. Depending on how much a rental costs, that might be worth doing so that you can shoot it a few times.

Go buy a couple boxes, rent both gauges and see. I'm not trying to be a smart alec, that's really the only way you'll find out which (if either) works for you. And watch the muzzle. Don't shoot your fingers off.

Springfield has a lot of good options, a was mentioned. I'd also encourage you to check out Rock Island Armory and Citadel, and spend the balance of your budget either on customization (after you've shot it enough to know what you want to change, and why) or on ammo. Feeding a 9mm is generally cheaper than a .45acp and the power to weight ratio makes shooting a steel 9mm very pleasant.

Thank you for the update. I'm glad it worked out for you all!

The 12ga can be quite controllable while the 20ga is still much more fun to shoot. In terms of defensive capability, 20ga slugs have about double the energy of a 44mag. It that (or a different 20ga load) is sufficient for your purposes, whichever one you'll practice more with is likely the better choice. Maybe the 20 is more fun to shoot, the 12 might be cheaper.

I'm sure we're all dying to know: How was the quilting??

Is it possible to recoup the costs of some of your repairs if you have receipts or invoices?

https://www-m.cnn.com/2019/03/21/us/indiana-active-shooter-pellets/index.html?r=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2F If you're giving people PTSD (Speaking generally, that's not mentioned here.) you're probably being counterproductive. On the other hand, it's ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING. You should be freaking people out, so they can learn to navigate those emotions should they have to. And a big lesson (sounds like not) learned in this case is that these people all lined up to be herded into a room and shot. Don't do that!

The National Rifle Association does not exist to get rid of rifles?

I saw a rook rifle mentioned today. I had never heard of that kind of thing before, so I had a quick look into them. Turns out there are a whole bunch of "rook" calibers. .17 hornet

Feel free to PM me a guess about which shot had such an impact on me.

Please keep us posted on your progress with this. I hope it's resolved to your satisfaction!

One shot at the end kinda surprised me. I clenched hard like I was going to lose my lunch. So I knew it was worth watching again.

Nice! If you can track down The Way Of The Gun, that's pretty fun too. Benecio Del Toro and Ryan Phillipe, James Can and some others I recognize but can't name.

They make .38s, so maybe a question of the quality of steel they're willing to pay for?

Or a kid's fort. That would make for a sweet dang playhouse. Construction season is coming again... Might have to wire it for satellite.

Congratulations on picking up a beautiful shotgun! Given a recent thread, I gotta ask: Is it 4 wheel drive?
