  1. Would your wife let you put $9k into a single firearm? If so, that opens up a world of possibilities... What about shop equipment that you'd make use of? Or, an actual shop/ hobby space, if that's an option.
  2. My grandpa (Mom's side) came down from the farm to live with my folks for the winters toward the end of his life. They had this on quite a bit, especially during the hatch. We watched it together quite a lot when I'd stop in to visit and takes about it frequently. https://explore.org/livecams/bald-eagles/decorah-eagles-north-nest
  3. What was their (The They that said "Go to dots!") rationale? What's the argument for going back to not dots? I don't know much about the various schools of thought backing the different systems. Thought this was a good opportunity to ask.
  4. Our oldest (4yrs) is convinced that the spoiler makes our rustbucket a racecar. Get some duct tape and slap a prop on the front of your car. Make yourself an airplane!
  5. I haven't had time/ chance to focus for a longer reply, you mostly hit what I saw as the high points.
  6. It's truly impressive to me that the 6 news team knows what those cans are full of ammo, from their chopper no less. And that Dann the man knows that charges will be filed. Of course, maybe he interviewed the neighbors, some of them seem to be experts on all sorts of things. Maybe the guy was a crap neighbor, but that doesn't mean he's the threat his neighbors already seem to have judged him to be. I hope he's cleared, gets his collection back intact, and is compensated as appropriate. I also hope all of those neighbors can see fit to be a bit more neighborly in the future.
  7. I'd never heard of a service like this before. I don't have any need for it at this point, but it's good to be aware of it. Thanks for posting!
  8. I guess the correct answer to your question is "Wherever your wife tells you you're staying." But at least it wasn't one of those "Whatever you want, dear." situations where there IS a right answer, and she's not telling. God, I hate those!
  9. That's interesting. The Full typically is marked no steel, but the not open ones are silent more often than not. Takes the guesswork out of the equation, eh?
  10. The general thought is that steel shoots "tighter" than lead. A mod lead choke will shoot more like a full when you put steel through it. Generally, steel through a full choke is a no-no, but some are marked as okay for steel. Have you tested the chokes you have with the loads you intend to use? If they pattern well, no sense in dropping the coin on new ones...
  11. I haven't read the fine print, but it looks like there also a rebate available, up to $50. Federal rebate R10014 EDIT: It looks like the price is available on any quantity of 50 round boxes, but free shipping only applies to case purchases.
  12. Now why'd you have to go and do this? I'm working hard on a funds preservation project, but I also love a bargain. And shooting guns. So, so much... AHHH!!!
  13. The dimensions are very close, most of the weight savings is in the slide. (They had to make it much lighter so the 22 could cycle it.) Also, I'm not sure if there are rimfire versions available with no manual safety, as in the centerfire models.
  14. These days, when I'm able, I buy my sour cream old fashioneds with plain glaze from a real bakery, leave them out overnight to get a little crunch, and dunk them in plain whole milk. Doesn't happen very often though, due to dietary constraints in our house.
  15. I used to buy a sixer of their chocolate glazed old fashioneds and a quart of chocolate milk before a short road trip. Four and a half hours and two empty containers later, I was a full puppy.
  16. Probably a wider load selection for the magnum.
  17. Could go the 243 low recoil route as well: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1001697452
  18. There's a way to jump the terminals (I used fancy custom bent a paperclip) and have the check engine light flash the code at you. I think it was in the manual for my Blazer or S-10, maybe both. That might be a way to get a code.
  19. "God I'm gonna miss that shotgun..."
  20. There are lots of comparison videos on YouTube. Basically, people love you a bunch of coolers, fill them with the same amount of ice and water, and see which one keeps water the longest. Check them out, buy the one that lasts the longest and fits your budget.
  21. Is thinking tear gas as well. Also: "Shotgun, check. First aid kit... Hey Jim, you know first aid?" "First what?" "Me neither... Lunchbox, check!"
  22. Calling the local PD or sheriff might help shed some light, as might a call to your local prosecutor. Explain the situation, ask about available (and legal) options.
  23. Was he or someone nearby drinking a beer and/ or working on a truck at the same time?
  24. No idea, but I like his style. Those stag grips put a smile on my face...
  25. Sometimes people have a brain fart and put down their previous address.
