  1. Getting ready to build a black rifle for a non-profit to raffle off and was just wondering what the average Joe's go-to would be for an all around shooting/hunting round through the AR? Looking for pros/cons of 300 BLK, 350 Legend, 450 Bushmaster, 458 SOCOM.. Trying to stay away from the .223 chambering. Looking for recommendations on what caliber would raffle well out of the AR platform.
  2. Our local chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is offering a backcountry Elk Hunt for raffle if anybody is interested. 9 days, 8 night fully guided for 2 hunters. 1 bull each. All food and lodging provided. Dates are 14-21 or 22-29 September 2022 or 2023. Hunt will be drawn for on October 10, 2021. I can provide all details if needed. Much of it is on the ticket itself. One of our committee members has worked with this outfitter for the last couple of summers and last year was lucky enough to hunt with and harvest a nice 6x6. Please pm me if interested as i dont know how to get pictures to pop up on here. Sweetened the pot a little as well. Chances are still $100/per, however, the 1st draw gets the hunt, 2nd number drawn gets a semiauto pistol (Springfield Hellcat) and the 3rd drawn receives a quality long range scope package.

  3. Tonight is the night! If you haven't pre-bought tickets, its not too late! Pay at the door and join us! Doors open at 5. Hope to see yall there!
  4. My moms farm hand has a High Point AR15 lol
  5. Hunting with Johan Grobler at LinPoPoAfricaSafaris. I have a fully aluminum Cabelas double case courtesy of Goodwill (SCORE!) that I am planning to take. It has room for 4 locks. I bought my wife and I a set of neck pillows for her birthday and hopefully the plane will have a nice TV screen in the headrest.
  6. Their recommendations say 30-06 or larger with 180 grain bullets so I assume that is not still used in LinPoPo province
  7. The caliber is allowed, but it's on an AR platform and you cannot take semi or automatic weapons into that area. May be the entire country.
  8. I am hesitant to take even my guns out of country with all the potential red tape involved with customs. May end up taking the bows and using the guide's guns
  9. Im not planning to hunt any Dangerous Game and my wife said i cant kill a giraffe so I'm planning to take my 30-06 with some 180's. It has opened up the bigbore search (hence my H&H on 1917 listing find). Buddy is planning to take his bow so i may get to gig a few guineas. Was disheartened to learn I could not take my 450 Bushmaster AR As of right now, I am planning on an Impala, Warthog and Wildebeest. A zebra may not be out of the equation and if he throws #### at me, a damn baboon is going to meet his demise.
  10. My wife is already sick and tired of watching that area's hunting videos and we only started talking about it on Sunday lol.
  11. Thought I'd be slick and run the price up on a South African hunt at the Bowling Green, KY RMEF banquet and ended up they had two of them to sale, so i guess we are headed to South Africa next Summer for at least Blesbuck and Impala. Looking at rates, I will probably go ahead and try for a Warthog and possibly Wildebeest. Just not sure how accurate i will be with my spear. Fear of my loin cloth falling off may impair my accuracy. Has anybody on here been on one of these hunts? What to expect? Will be myself, my wife, best friend and his wife going.
  12. ARMSLIST - For Sale/Trade: 300 h&h mag I suck at putting pictures on here. I will try and get more from him later today. Just ran across it while looking for a 375/458/416. I think its just a rebarreled P14 but if it has an alloy magazine plate instead of true steel, possibly real.
  13. I have a feeling that Leroy or Rob will know the answer to this, but if somebody beats them to it, by all means. Spoke to a guy thats trying to get rid of a 300 H&H and he claims its actually made by Holland and Holland, however, it looks to be build on a P14 or M1917 platform. Is there such a creature that was marketed by Holland and Holland or was it just rebarreled from '06 or '03 into the 300 H&H round? I'm interested either way, but would rather have a Holland and Holland built rifle to go along with my Pre-64 70s.
  14. We are a week and half out from this thing! Looks like a total of 10 guns that are going to be going home with people! Run down of a few things on the agenda. 15. Had a family "4th" of July (10th) celebration in West Tennessee with swimming, cornhole, skeet and fireworks along with good food. Took the normal 870 youth 20, my late grandfather's Model 11 Remington 20 with the vent rib barrel and the old Double Barrel Belgium "JJ Weston". She's got 32-34' Laminated Steel (probably Damascus) double barrels , double hammers , double triggers and some sweet 1890s engraving. I bought some of the 1.75" shotshells, Minimax i think. Although ensuring I wore glasses and earmuffs every time, she shot like a dream and actually busted a few skeet with her. Fun times shooting a 140 year old gun.
  16. A little update for you guys. Still a little ways off on the date but its closing fast. We still have the Elk Hunt Donated and looks like we will be selling chances for $50 apiece with a max of 250 tickets. It can be three for the price of 2 or may can convert to 2 for the price of 1 hunter. The guide is fairly flexible. We also have a East Tennessee (Franklin County I believe) turkey hunt that will be live auctioned. 2 days 2 nights with a 1 bird limit. Will be a good one to be able to take part in and will be guided by our own chapter's chairman. Prices for tickets are on the RMEF website below and includes Early Bird Special prices on silent auction tickets. We will have some wallhanger pictures, RMEF gear and other random hunting gear in the silent auction. We also have sponsorships and/or sponsor tables (Rag Horn is for 4, Big Bull for 8). Working towards an assortment of rifles, shotguns, pistols, muzzleloader, and bows to be available. https://events.rmef.org/shop/musiccity?utm_source=rmef.org&utm_medium=events_page Please let us know if you are planning to attend either through the online ticket portal, through PM on here, or buy contacting Matt Hagen at mahagen@crimson.ua.edu (909) 268-3250 Thank You and God Bless!
  17. Ill give you your money back on it since you're not happy with the purchase Looks great! Knew i didnt have the time to or money to make her pretty.
  18. Anyone interested, I can forward the invite to your email if you pm it to me. We would be honored to have you attend.
  19. We have had a 3 person Early Rifle Elk Hunt donated to us by an outfitter near Missoula, MT that one of our committee members has worked for in the past. It is a backcountry hunt valued at $13,200, however, we will be selling chances on it for $50/chance and we are going to try and reward it at the banquet. Need not be present to win.
  20. Here is the online ticket portal. Looks forward to seeing you all. https://events.rmef.org/shop/musiccity?utm_source=rmef.org&utm_medium=events_page
  21. I've had to do it too, with the same results. I was just paranoid taking a drill press to a barrel. I actually have better tools now. What's a drill press?
  22. Drill your gas port out to .096. My 450 Bushmasters did the same thing. BCA lets them go way undergassed. Drilled it carefully and she ran like a brand new one.
  23. Yes Sir. I can send official invitations through mail and email once they become available. I am jumping the gun to get the information out early.
  24. Ladies and Gents, Extending an invitation to attend the inaugural fundraising dinner banquet for the newly formed Music City Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. It will be held the 26th of August at The Barn at Sycamore Farms venue in Arrington, TN. I am one of 7 committee members striving to make it the biggest in Tennessee and the National Headquarters is really getting behind it to be one of the largest in the country. There will be tons of raffles, prizes, a live and silent auction as well as a top-of-the-line dinner being catered. If there's anybody interested in coming and/or helping out, please reach out. We are also selling many different tier of sponsor deals if you need a night out with the boys and/or need a tax write off that just happens to come with a gun. Who doesn't love guns?
  25. Got a chance to snag a 16 gauge 1897 pump gun . Just wondering on the scarcity of it and what it would be worth if i was to end up with it?
