in my experience it is much more difficult to squire the red dot upon presentation if it is mounted high on the gun. Most 22's add the ability to mount red dot as an afterthought. In other words, they mount tooooo high. Practice can compensate for this, but only I do so regularly.

Not sure if you are looking for a micro/compact or full size range gun. Will share this from my experience. Almost every pre -installed red dot I have seen if lower in quality than Holosun , SIG, Vortex or other aftermarket red dots I have owned. Is that important to you? Depends on what the firearm is to be used for. If just casual range use, then might consider a factory dot. Otherwise I would pick the red dot first, then the gun. btw,love the Sig P365 and Hellcat for carry. Would never be happy with their supplied red dots though. Hey peeps, it's just my opinion. User experience and susceptibility to advertising claimsmay alter one's perception.

I had a 6" security six in the 80's. It was a good solid pistol with a sloppy trigger and weird balance. Never got used to it

Look at it this way. There is no such thing as the perfect handgun. It depends on what you like and what you can afford. Anything that shoots is 100% better than a stick. Good suggestions here. Any would do

Color me confused. about the P365 full size announced. When I bought a SIG P365 years ago, thought it was full-size, for a pocket gun. Later the P320 came out and I got that too. It was not a pocket gun and did not expect SIG to bring out a fuller plus size version of it in the future. Are they now telling me my P365 was just a baby and the ones they are now selling are fully growed up like their brethren P320? Will there withered Senior in a home model? A mid frame sized full size model? A vegan model? Confused!

Taurus are fine in my experience. Not fancy, maybe a bit rough finish wise. They don’t seem to have as much of the timing and parts breaking issues once infamous for. I have a semi-auto G3c which I think highly of for a cheap gun Thos week looked at a model 605 at Bud’s in Sevierville. Price was good but decided it was a bit lacking in fit and finish. FOR ME I am willing to spend the extra bucks for a Smith or a Kimber revolver. The Kimber K6XS is under 600 and is very well made. I carry one in rotation it’s also 6 shot

One thing I learned in the tx22 is making sure the rounds are staggered in the magazine. Otherwise it will missfeed. Using the supplied Taurus loader makes it easy. Can do it be hand if I don’t rush and make sure each round is staggered

If just for your own target use, consider a GOOD 1911. I know I know, old school. But they still are magnificent X ring shooters.

Just to add an observation. I ALWAYS want to get the red dot mounted as low as possible on a handgun. Adapter plates are a good mounting solution, but proper slide. milling seems to give the most desirable results From my point of view anyway

Had a Hellcat which needed nubs shortened or removed. Was inexpensive through local Smith. Result was a superb optic equipped handgun Have seen non mos 43x milled for Holosun. Looked very worthwhile That person uses it as edc

The Hellcat would be my choice over the Max 9…all day long Have owned and shot both. Carried the Hellcat for about two years (in rotation). Neither have great triggers but dislike the Ruger’s most. The Ruger also rattles like a can full of rocks Congrats to him on the Hellcat. Also, it is easy to upgrade the trigger on it

Consider this: Taurus GX4 Carry TORO. Should be under 4 out the door.

Would recommend that you find a gun range which does rentals. They might not have the exact model you desire, but likely will have something close.

Have had quite a few Chip McCormick mags. They feed reliably and a quite tough. I would rather have two or three ultra reliable mags than six which occasionally malfunction.

I would be concerned about how the sights are regulated if accuracy is you "aim." Most guns now are a combat hold. That is not ideal for me as prefer "point of aim." AT least for plinking

A friend of mine has one and likes it. It fairness, she rarely shoots it though.
