+1 to these guys! Really, you are asking too much out of a gun for too little. Find out what you want to use it for (range/practice, OR carry gun) hard to get both out of a gun especially for less than $300. If you were willing to go up on the price (sale some stuff) then I think a Glock 19 would suit you well assuming it fit your hand well. It is probably the best pistol out there for all around range/practice/HD/CCW out there, proven reliability and its in a 9mm. It will run you around $500-$530 when its all said and done.

IIRC, as long as you have not been institutionalized then you won't have any problems getting a HCP.

I have shot several times with just my regular glasses. I prefer to put in contacts and wear shooting glasses because I like the extra coverage, but I have never had an issue with using regular glasses. Just be sure you wear something! I forgot to put on my glasses once while I was shooting, then realized I needed to put them on, well the next shot a piece of brass came flying at my eyeball and took a nick out of my shooting glasses! That very well could have been my eye!
