I don't think anyone gets more excited about seeing the evidence deer leave behind more than Ruger. In this case...a shiny rock... He must be on the brink of a heart attack when he actually sees one. Ruger, you better pop an aspirin before you go hunting this year...and if you ever hunt my property....I'll make sure we have a defibrillator. LOL I tease of course! It is indeed exciting to see the work you put into something, produce results. I thought I was dreaming when I planted a food plot and not only did it grow, but deer ate it down to the dirt! I assembled the Muddy Outdoors deer stand and the Millennium deer stand today. Going to put them up next weekend! I'll have to give a more detailed report on these deer stands after I get some sitting time in them to help people out who may be interested in owning the two models.

I had to work on Monday. To be honest, I don't really have a "dove field". We have some acreage that has a gravel road and a power line that run through it planted in cowpeas and sunflowers (few and far between), so I'm not sure how that would be for a dove hunt. We have this long creek that splits a 30 acre soybean field in half and along the creek are lots of shrubs and saplings that we have flushed out lots of dove in. So I may go out Saturday morning and see what I can come up with! Next year we are planting the entire field in sunflowers for a true dove field. It takes a few years usually for hunts to become productive.

Wish I could be there to meet you fellas! Someone drink an extra cup of coffee for me. haha

Quick PSA fellas! Make sure you have and use a Saftey Harness! Believe it or not, they do expire! I have been using one that came with a treestand and last year realized it had an expiration date of 2005!! Plus, there is a YouTube video of a guy hanging a lock on using the harness that came with a deer stand and it broke and he banged himself up pretty good. So spend $100 on a HSS or Muddy's because that's cheaper than obamacare.

The reflectiveness of that strip will likely startle deer or at the very least cause them to pay attention to you. You should cover it up with tape or remove if possible.

We have soybeans, cowpeas mixed in with some sunflowers and clover this year. Deer are absolutely tearing up the cowpeas, they freaking love them!

I need to have a raccoon apocalypse out at my property. Those little crafty SOB's manage to eat so much of our supplemental feed for our deer they got to weigh 40lbs a piece. Installing the Sharks Teeth on the legs of the feeders only seemed to allow them to get better grip! LOL!

I think I just lost my appetite for Waffle House.

My dad taught me from a young age that life is hard enough by itself, but if I make bad decisions, I will make it exponentially harder for myself. So I have tried to live my life on the straight and narrow and can say that because of my good decision making, (not always easy or popular), I live an excellent life. I have the worlds best wife. We dated 5 1/2 years before we got married. We were both virgins up until our wedding...but definitely not afterwords. ;-) She doesn't emasculate me and she lets me be a man as well as appreciates that I am a man. She encourages me in where I am weak, and lifts me up where I am strong. She is a hard worker and when I lost my job a few years ago, she was a source of comfort and calmness in a very stressful situation. The other day we got into an argument that was clearly her fault...she couldn't see it at the time, but the next day she apologized to me, asked for forgiveness and said she will do better next time. I look forward to coming home after work. We have no jealousy towards each other...well except she is much better looking that I am but I digress. I could go out to dinner with any of her girlfriends and she wouldn't think anything of it. And on the other side, I would trust her with any of my guy friends. She loves God, loves others and loves herself. She is very much my best friend and I am always looking forward to growing old with her. Now contrast that to the one you are choosing to be with. But in her *slight* defense, how can she respect you as a man, if you aren't acting like one? Its time to start making some manly decisions. Don't be a victim. Time to go get a real job and move out. You won't like your job...welcome to manhood. When Adam sinned in the Garden, our curse was to have to work to provide for ourselves. You will never find work more enjoyable than playing video games at your grandparents house living rent free. But put your hours in, work harder than anyone else around you, maintain a positive attitude and that will get noticed. With some experience, you will either move up in the company, or you have made yourself marketable to find a more enjoyable and better paying job. I am 28 years old and I approve of this message.

I think the newer ones come with a second strap towards the bottom helping to stabilize it, but that little metal piece is still awfully narrow. For what its worth, I haven't ready anyone complain about it being shaky, but I'm definitely leaning towards the Muddy's now because of it. We shall see, maybe I'll buy both and just see for myself.

LOL Ruger....smh Those white tails cost a lot more money...

Y'all got your licenses yet? I buy a Sportsman's License every year. Sure wish Daddy would have got me a lifetime license when I was a little tot! haha

I am going to buy buying a couple Lock On Tree Stands. I have been looking at the Millennium M150 Monster and the Muddy's Outdoors Hunter models. The Millennium looks super comfortable, but I have watched a few videos, and the the lower portion of the stand that contacts the tree is so narrow, and when this guy (and a few other reviewers) stand up on it, its looks so shaky! See Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlJYMye7YAg Does anyone own the Millennium stands and can let me know if the platform is shaky? I shake enough as it is when a deer walks up, I don't want that thing to throw me off if I try to stand up. Thanks

Posting this from my new Macbook Pro!! My old Macbook is 8 years old and was purchased during the tax free weekend as well. Its amazing he difference 8 years in technology upgrades make! So this Macbook was $1,499. Since is tax free, that saves $140. Since my wife is a student, that saved us another $100 and Apple was doing a promotion that if you buy a computer, you get a $100 gift card for the Apple store. So this saved me $340! Cant beat that man. Amazing how lowering taxes helps people spend money....

All in all, yesterday was a pretty good day

Kubota's are great tractors. My family has a 42hp Kubota with several landpride implements. One thing I highly suggest you do, is if you see a pin such as the ones that hook from the attachment to the tractor arms, buy a backup!! I can't tell you how many times I've had to run to the Co-Op to try and track down a pin, and to buy a bunch and find out that they are all the wrong size! haha. We like the 42hp Kubota, its powerful, yet fairly compact for narrow trails and such. At some point though, we will get a larger one to pull bigger implements with though but we also have 425 acres. Our largest field is 30 acres and unless you have all the time in the world, a 6' implement wont be large enough. Right now we have leased that one out to a farmer. But the tractor does great for all our other fields. -
+1!!

Tommy Bronson's has a gunsmith. I think his name is Keith Warner. He cleaned, smoothed up and inspected one of my uncle's really old lever actions. Probably would be worth getting a quote if you haven't already contacted him.
-
Any respectable gun collection needs to have a 10/22...at least in my opinion! But when you get a 10/22, you will want a lever action, then when you get a lever action you'll want the 15/22, then when you get the 15/22, youll want a good bolt action....so just take your pick, you'll get the rest later on. haha

Best way to practice would be to go to a skeet range and/or sporting clays. Skeet would probably be a little better for starting out. Also, shoot with someone experienced so they can help teach you. Don't get frustrated because skeet and dove hunting can be difficult! The more trigger time you get the easier it will become. So, try to hunt as much as possible! And bring lots of ammo! One tip: when dove hunting you can load 3 shells in your gun. Never shoot the third shell at the same bird. By your third shell, that bird is far off and your likelihood of actually hitting it is slim to none. That will save you a lot of ammo!

Thats awesome Rob! I wish I was cool and could make stuff like you. haha
