I would assume though, that 90%+ of self defense situations where a gun is used to deter an assault or a criminal activity where no one is injured/killed will never make the list as many of those will never be publicly reported.

Personally I give the movie 4 out of 10 stars.  It wasn't that great.

The past few days I have noticed that Bud's has had multiple AR's listed in the regular sections of their website, not only on the auction part as has been the case for the past 6-8 weeks.   They currently have four different AR's listed, although prices still suck somewhat.  I'd say they'd be back close to normal in 3-4 more weeks.
