Unless you have a crystal ball, I don't think that there is any way to clearly say that someone is an unethical opportunist. No one here knows what they paid for whatever they are selling. You may think that you do, or think that you have a pretty good idea based on a sale you saw somewhere a month ago for the same item, but as has been pointed out, it really only matters what the buyer and the seller think. All others need not apply.

Cliff could affect tax filing http://www.gopusa.com/news/2012/12/27/cliff-could-affect-tax-filing/ Tax professional: Expect to file later, pay more, see refund delayed http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/morning_call/2012/12/tax-professional-expect-to-file.html "That's because the Alternative Minimum Tax, or AMT, usually affects just a few. But this year the Tax Policy Center says it could raise the tax bill for more than 30 million Americans by $888 to $3,800, WXIA reports"

Americans Want Stricter Gun Laws, Still Oppose Bans DECEMBER 27, 2012 http://www.gallup.com/poll/159569/americans-stricter-gun-laws-oppose-bans.aspx "PRINCETON, NJ -- In the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn., Gallup finds 58% of Americans in favor of strengthening the laws covering the sale of firearms, up from 43% in 2011. Current support for stricter gun laws is the highest Gallup has measured since January 2004, but still not nearly as high as it was in the 1990s."

From what I've read, because of all the monkeying around, MANY people may not even be able to file until late-March/early-April at the earliest as it is due to IRS having to reprogram their computers. So even if you were expecting to get a "refund", you might have to wait until April, May or June for it. I'll try and locate the articles that I've read concerning that and post the link(s) here. Heading out to lunch now.

Facebook becomes Big Brother, closes pro-gun accounts http://clashdaily.com/2012/12/facebook-becomes-big-brother-closes-pro-gun-accounts/ http://www.examiner.com/article/facebook-becomes-big-brother-closes-pro-gun-accounts "Today, Dec. 27, 2012, it has come to our attention that Facebook is purging accounts that show a leaning toward pro-gun rights, meaning the Second Amendment of the U. S. Constitution; as well as anything to do with pro-liberty information." Read more: http://clashdaily.com/2012/12/facebook-becomes-big-brother-closes-pro-gun-accounts/#ixzz2GN4UtlTZ

As a History Major I understand and totally agree, however the point of the statement is still valid. I would have changed a few lines, but then it wouldn't be an intact historical quote.

I believe the OP was stating concerned about the issue of paying sales tax, not over the cost of membership. Said tax then pushed the cost of membership over $x is what he said. I agree in that is a range membership not a 'service'? I am being charged sales tax on my membership, but others have told me they are not (at the same place). I know that some places do and some places do not. Should it not be uniform?

A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to complacency; From complacency to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage. Alexander Fraser Tytler (reformatted. my tablet does NOT paste stuff as copied fro some reason)
