We Must Do Something About The Media
mcurrier replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Ever hear of Glenn Beck and Blaze TV? There are people working on alternative media, and I believe it will change the way we gather news and information. Today, the mainstream media are quickly making themselves irrevelent. You won't see it overnight, but the majority of people watching the 6oclock news are old codgers. They'll soon die out and no one will replace them. As the media gets worse and worse, people will simply turn them off. Most news channels keep losing ratings each year, and many newspapers are bankrupting. You won't have to do anything to the media; they are commiting suicide.
The new ones aren't coming fast enough and the old ones aren't commiting suicide fast enough for my taste. -

Numerous Pro-Gun Bills Filed as TN 2013 Legislative Session Convenes The 2013 session of the Tennessee General Assembly is off to a good start with several pro-gun bills being introduced. Even though last session ended on a sour note, your NRA-ILA is confident that we can take many legislative steps this year to further protect the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding Tennesseans. The following pro-gun bills have been introduced: House Bill 6, sponsored by state Representative Eric Watson (R-22), would allow K-12 school personnel to possess a firearm on school property if the person has a handgun carry permit, is authorized by the school superintendent, has had 40 hours of basic school policing training and uses frangible bullets. House Bill 9, sponsored by state Representative William Lamberth (R-44), makes all information contained in and pertaining to a handgun carry permit application or renewal application and the status of a handgun carry permit confidential and not open for public inspection. State Senator Ferrell Haile (R-18) has sponsored the Senate companion bill, Senate Bill 108. House Bill 10, sponsored by state Representative Jeremy Faison (R-11), prohibits the allocation of state or local public funds to the regulation or enforcement of any federal law, executive order, rule or regulation that becomes effective on or after January 1, 2013, that imposes restrictions on citizens who lawfully possess or carry firearms in Tennessee. Senate Bill 40, the companion bill, is sponsored by state Senator Frank Niceley (R-8). House Bill 108, sponsored by state Representative Sheila Butt (R-64), provides that a public or private employer cannot require an applicant for employment or an employee to disclose information about the ownership or storage of a firearm in the applicant or employee's vehicle. House Bill 118, sponsored by Representative Jeremy Faison (R-11), allows those with a valid handgun carry permit to transport and store a firearm or firearm ammunition in the permit holder’s privately-owned motor vehicle in public or private parking areas under certain conditions. Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey (R-4) has filed Senate Bill 142, the companion bill to HB 118. Senate Bill 76, sponsored by state Senator Stacey Campfield (R-7), limits the number of handgun carry permit records that can be reproduced in a single day to fifteen. Senate Bill 77, also sponsored by Senator Campfield, allows certain persons employed by a local education agency as a faculty or staff member at a K-12 school to possess and carry a firearm. Your NRA-ILA will continue to monitor this legislation and keep you informed of committee assignments and hearing dates, so please stay tuned to www.nraila.org for updates.

Doesn't matter until we fix the "media" problem.

Amen! I was just thinking exactly that. In 20 years this country is going to be a whole lot different. We will have either taken it back from the whacko's and restored it to be free for everyone, or it will be a total police state communist country. It's time to get out of the gray area and define the lines very clearly.

Btw, we have the St. Andrews floor plan. Only 5 in our neighborhood of 120 homes. Not too thrilled about the HOA $ though. We have only used the pool two times in 10 years. Too many kids. The HOA has a high surplus of cash on hand. Not much expenditure required around here except for pool.

I used to have a website of photos of the construction from clearing the lot, pouring foundation, to building, completion and laying the sod. The server changed and I haven't gotten around to moving all of my different image galleries yet. We were able to do a LOT of customization on our house. Some at the formal planning meetings and some while I was at the house each day and would just ask the head contractor, "hey, can you move this here or make this bigger?" Sometimes a small amount of $ was involved, most of the time what I wanted actually saved them materials. We did not want the fireplace, it wastes wall space, and always in the most inconvenient spot. Here is our living room soon after moving in.

Yo. We have one and, for the most part, love it. One caveat though... We were the last one built in our neighborhood, so they kind of rushed it on some things as they were building because I think they just wanted to be out of there and on to the next neighborhood. It's mostly with the yard and landscaping, house is fine for the most part. They left the yard littered with nails and other metal items and then compacted the yard with a small mini-dozer before laying the sod. Our yard is rock hard. I can't even drive a tent stake into it and we've been here almost ten years. I would not hesitate if it's in a new or partially finished neighborhood, but I would do some things differently if it were one of the last houses to be built in a neighborhood. A few cool things about it though, I was over here every day while they were building and have interior photos of every wall and ceiling before drywall went up, so I know where every wire and pipe are. I was also able to run home theater wiring and network cables before drywall went up. Very clean looking in the living room with no wires exposed at all.
