Some may have this with remote acreage, but the idea of not just turning on the faucet would be foreign too many -

one of my favorite old time cookers was the HOTDOGGER. It worked by electrocuting the poor dogs after they were put on metal spikes. They let out juice and sounded like they were screaming lol As a teenager I got get a kick out of it. The burnt ends were not great, it was about the process. I’m starting to think I have a hotdog problem.

Any partial concern you might have had around health benefits will get taken off by Grilled cheese and hotdogs
-
Don’t need to turn most things IMO. Doggies and some meats do seem to work better with a flip with ours. Seems the skin gets more even blistering. Large pieces loose less moisture and distributed more evenly. I’d bet there is enough variation between fryers that benefits (if any) differ.
-
They do! Depending on preference, but they can get the skins nice and brown to just a little crunchy. 3-4 mins, turn, another 3-4

My wife reminds me I am not George Bush, if I ever become president then I can stop eating broccoli. Desperate times call for…an air fryer
-
You should be happy with the broccoli. We roll em in some olive oil with a little garlic salt and roast em. asparagus olive oil and parmesan cheese is great too. Basically it takes blah too yuck veggies and mashede them so that you almost like em They do great hot dogs in just a few minutes. Great on those snow days you don’t want to go out to the grill. Pork loin is another nice quick one to. While It’s just a convection oven as mentioned, the small space is efficient and such a great time saver.

Thoughts on the recent Hybrid / EV registration penalty?
Erich replied to Erich's topic in General Chat
I don’t think that’s totally cutting against the grain @Darrell. The tax base as implemented is disproportionate and based on invalid data / justification. TN is doing the as many other states have already had these fees in effect. TN’s are some of the highest in the nation. And the tiered structure is set to increase over the next 3 years. Flat for hybrids, which I read as an admission they knew they are making things up for them and more folks have them (according suns pushback) I really meant to focus on the hybrid side of it as it’s so obviously ludicrous with there assumed MPG. Their premise to tax is heavily biased by MPG, so it should be fact based. Figuring out which vehicles to tax would actually be quite simple. All vehicles sold in the US are required to have their fuel economy provided to the EPA. It’s published data that is readily available, just like the link provided. No need to hire a think tank to generate inaccurate graphs. A temp could grab the data in less than 5 minutes. I came from CA, my last truck’s reg fee in 2018 was almost $700. I left that state for such reasons. It’s not about the $$ as much as it’s an unfair tax based on the states own rationale. I think it’s a group that is easy to get voters polarized against. They are the minority and people are not going to vote/campaign in a tax on themselves when they can get ‘those yahoos in dem lefty cars’ to pay for their share. I do plan to reach out to a rep with that hybrid EPA link of actual mileage. Since it’s $$$ for the state and others states get away with it, I know it won’t matter, but gotta do it. -
So we got our registration for our vehicles the other day, wife's was $29 as expected, mine is $129 for my F-150. I don't follow most politics, but a quick google led to a umbrella cash grab under the name The Transportation Modernization Act of 2023. Apparently mine is a penalty intended to replace "lost revenue" from these vehicles that are solely responsible for depriving TN of funds needed for road repairs. My F-150 is technically a hybrid. It was the ONLY way to get the 7.2 kw on-board generator. But with MPG in the 20-22 MPG range, it does not deliver any better mileage than it's 100% ICE brethren. It's a big ass 6000 lb truck, it gulps down gas like a fat kid downs cake. But the state seems to think my truck is knocking down 60 MPG! How lucky am I ?! Looks like a number of self-identified intellectuals at UT and Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR) misrepresented some numbers, misused statics, and help make some leaps in logic IMO. Leading to a blanket approach that does not actually go after some of the real culprits and instead punishes those it shouldn't. Almost sounds a little like gun control LOL. Graphically they presented this hot mess: So average a bunch of stuff without thinking about it and jump to some conclusions. I still cant get over I'm getting 60 MPG So Hybrids knock down 60??? Do they though? Published actual numbers from .gov below. Only 2 or 3 of the dozens get even close. https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/byfuel/Hybrid2022.shtml What am I missing in their numbers? Seems to me, with their (misguided) logic, this should be a war on ANY care that gets over, lets say, 30MPG. That would be a good chunk of most ICE only newer sedans today. That's simply modernization, like the act is named. What about those that work from home that dont put up the avg mileage of 13k? You gotta love made up numbers!

I've gotten them a handful of times, also FFL03. I've been getting notices for NICS and form changes, so these don't appear to be specific to FFL type. I didn't get the one referred to so I assume they have a radius that I fell out of. iirc the last heist notice I got was for a FFL1's shop.

Blending my personal experience with the 'better' brands and only what I have read of newer Taurus, I find myself looking at Taurus for my next 44. S&W earned their reputation. But there is a reason why so many here will only buy older ones. Their current product is also hit and miss from the recent purchases. More miss than hit. You cant debate when you get a good on they are nice. Colt has yet to solve their QC issues unfortunately. However they now have great customer service and stand behind their product. Something that Smith either no longer does or is hit and miss in that department as well. Hopefully luck of the draw is on my side with the Taurus.

If you run into a decent Winchester 190 you might consider it. 16 rnd tube feeder and most like the Marlin 60, but not as popular. The lesser rep was probably due more to the fact that most ended up with loose barrel nuts that weren't tightened back down than any real functional difference.

Great choice. That was my first can when I moved to this free state Enjoy!

I am wondering if you had standard anti-walk pins, but possibly the take down pin was the item that had the wedge screw arrangement? JP use to make one a while back. Trigger pins diameter are small enough that the wall diameter combined with the smaller screw, I'd think it wouldn't generate much torque on a limited engagement area to be effective long term.

Update: Looks like we done broke it. Scheduled maintenance

Its the one in the pic that SmokyBaer posted. I bought it form another member on the M14 forum almost 10 years ago. I had bought a new National Match and was planning to do the upgrade. The difference between the National Match and M21 at that time was M21 stock used the oversize match stock with the adjustable adjustable cheek riser, and the heavy profile barrel. National Match's were already glass bedded, so for me I wanted the adjustable riser since I planned to scope the rifle. But I never ended doing that or even shooting the National Match since I had a couple of other M14's at the time. Looking over my accumulated parts, I know I don't plan to do that in the future since I've not ever shot the NM and considering I may sell that. I forgot how I went hog wild on collecting back then. I have other GI stocks and vented hanguards. I was thinking if I sold the NM I would get one of the current shorter barrel versions and might use one of the GI stock / handguards as I wont end up ever scoping one realistically.

Natches has some very low price on either 9mm or 40 CCI Independence brass. It was 199.99 for 1k about 2 hours ago, now showing at 209.99. But the catch is, all the other gun crazy horders are slammin their website and you may not be able to get in. I have been trying on and off for the last 2 hours and get internal server error, so have not been able to verify the caliber. I am assuming that some folks are managing to get in and buy based on their site volume alogarithm upping the price . Good luck. Hope some of the gents here can luck into some
