  1. The long slow walk out to the tree to pick your own switch you were about be get beat with. And it being OK for your parents tell others about it because that was how everyone rolled back then.
  2. Best Products - Catalog showings There was something fun about seeing your purchase come out on a conveyor belt Skymall meets Ikea with a small side of Walmart. And the funky building were great too.
  3. That’s an interesting analogy. You could put your pictures up on the wall literally…limited distribution…but it works view masters are the only real slide format left. In context: Such a distinct sound. i was thinking movie protectors too, his they use to show films in classes better VHS, but they are in so many movies kids would know what they are. Slides less so?
  4. Not sure how many will get this right off
  5. I do love me some retro vibe, but that’s odd some commitment there! I have 2 of them, 4ft and 7ft. Had the big one up this year. Use to take the small one to work and put it on the table for the ‘kids’
  6. Anyone who worked retail in the early 80’s or before. Remember the weekly bank published books of bad credit cards that you had to look up manually. No slide and go. I remember thinking oh great, when I saw someone in line with their card out. Cash was still a thing back then.
  7. More challenging without the reels!
  8. Tube tester and Vacuum Tubes. . Having to go down to Thrifty the day after your TV died to use their tube tester after you’d numbered and pulling all the tubes.

    Getting Old

Sorry to hear @pop pop, I hope it stabilizes for ya. After I hit 50, my memory took a turn. Its normal, matters of degree with how it effects everyone. @Grayfox54 hit the main point about how the body ages. You pay for what you did (or more like over did) earlier. Ortho doctors love me. I don't how many of them I have helped buy new cars and houses. The brain health is a crapshoot. My mom had Alzheimer's, seeing it that close makes me appreciate every day. I hope all here don't ever had to deal with that for themselves or their loved ones.
  10. Unfortunately, bring unconstitutional doesn’t prevent such things from becoming law. CA just passed an additional tax on Firearms a few months ago. They didn’t get the number they originally wanted, but effectively doubled use tax. Like any number of bad gun laws, they may get tossed years down the road, but never underestimate the mass of uninformed voters in believing leftist propaganda to pass inane legislation.
  11. Working with his ATF proxy to create laws without congress again. Biden will extend 2022 abuses of FFL’s to declare all gun owners as FFL’s, requiring backgrounds on sales, moving to ban private party sales. https://dailycaller.com/2024/01/31/whistleblowers-allege-atf-is-drafting-rule-that-could-effectively-ban-private-firearm-sales/
  12. Aluminum Christmas Trees!
  13. Really, not kidding, there was no Google or internet. Libraries and Britannica
  14. you were nobody in high school during the early 80’s if you didn’t wear these with your 501’s
  15. One of my favorites from when I was a kid. Spinning around in circles while flyin a Cox glow plug P-40. marginally safer for bystanders than lawn darts
