I had an earlier one, not first batch but close enough. Functionally it was fine. No issues. It did go back as they forced an optic plate into the undersized optic cut of the slide which damage it. they had to recut the slide and refinish. Springfield from a service perspective is good on the customer service end. The service dept, well…it’s a crap shoot. The cerakote after the repair was pretty bad. But they stepped up after I got ahold of them and addressed it. I would inspect anything you are looking at pretty closely. Avoid any obvious problems opposed to relying on service support to address something you are willing to accept thinking they’d fix it (true of any US company). That said, It’s a great platform and in the end you should be good.

I can’t believe your timing! Not to steal your thread. I started to look thru my list for the next item I need to sell and realized it was missing a as couple things. I was going to post a question here, “when is the last time you invented your safe “ I decided to verify serials, record missing, and take pictures. That last thing hung me out since I was not going to use a mothership scanned smartphone. Dug out my retired old digital camera, hunted down its proprietary charger to revise long dead batteries….. It was most of 8 hour, what a chore. I can only imagine you guys with 40+ years worth and multiple large safes. I definitely found somethings I’d forgotten about. Glad it’s done. On the downside, I was able to reorg like a great game of tetris (good) and made room where there was none before (bad, very very bad). Somehow having space makes one less inclined to sell. But I picked another hard one for me to let go to keep it “easier” to proceed. Good luck in your search @Defender, I feel your pain!

I inherited my dad’s 05 Tundra and 17 Tacoma when he passed. The Tacoma was only a few months old at the time. It was a loaded off road TRD 4x double cab. He bought a lifetime warranty that transferred to me. It looked great, was reasonably comfortable and cold be parked in places more like a car, especially compared to a full size truck (bonus for the wife) I had so many reasons to try to love it. But I preferred driving the basic extended cab Tundra…and tellingly…so did the wife. That old Tundra was just a good driver. The primary thing was how relatively underpowered it was for the 4x drivetrain even with standard oem tires. The factory PCM tune was lacking throttle response and big lags on kickdown to back on power. The drivability suffered. On top of all that, it got pretty bad mileage. 16 on the highway at I75 cruise speeds (trying to not get run over ) that dropped a bit around town. I towed an atv utility trailer a couple times and it noticeably struggled. The rear cab space is ok if on-the-smaller-side works for your needs. Admittedly, I’m a jaded full size truck person. I know these are super popular, just didn’t do it for me. If it weren’t for the sentimental aspects, I don’t think I would have kept it as long as i did.

If you plan to buy a bit of ammo this year, this may be a deal to consider. Normally I dont do subscriptions, but could rationalize this one. TargetSportsUSA is offering a $50 gift card for signing up for their membership @ $99 and buying a case of ammo from a list of specified brands. This membership gives you 8% off and free shipping. The discount almost nets out the TN penalty. So after the gift card, you can make back the $49 membership cost diference pretty quick. Up till today there weren't any really good deals on the qualifying ammo brands. But they just put up some Blazer brass 9mm for an additional %12 off when doing the above, so drops it to $211 for 1000 before tax (free shipping). They email the electronic gift card after the transaction enters, so no real wait. At least that what happened for me.

One note from an early adopter, and may need to research of this apples still. These had a reputation for breaking strikers from dry firing, which isn’t a typical problem in other center fire guns. Snap caps were recommended. May be slightly overblown, but just fyi. I got the Apex striker when I picked up their trigger for mine because it’s good to have a backup.

I don’t think anyone will try to argue the reliability of a ‘genuine’ glock. Time will bear out this new offering’s place on that scale. It sure as hell won’t be near the polymer80 end of the scale. The modularity seems to be a focus. Whether modularity is an appeal or not, the other aspect that is a significant selling point is the preference based ergonomics. That is what originally drove the clone wars. I have many Glocks, but I won’t ever pretend they have favorable ergos and acknowledge they have a specific training need due to the grip angle. I like that this allows for more standardized training around presentation across platforms. And yes, the modularity

Glad to see more things going the route of modular with serialized FCU. Makes so much sense in a Glock with all their frame and slide combo variations. I bet Glock isn’t thrilled to see this! Reputable company making a quality piece at a substantial savings which is superior to the prior low end faux glock option. First real threat to Glock's sales.

I can say that wasn’t my experience. because it sounded pretty far fetched, I tested it, and it didn’t go down that way. just entered an email and done. You sure you didn’t go to Gungrabbers.com?

At that price, not surprised. I've learned with their emails you gotta strike fast when you see cheap. One of the few places I leave the almost daily spam on cause when they have a deal, it it can be crazy good. Recommend it if you have the patience.

Sorry to hear it Spots. Glad you'll have 15 years of great memories to sustain you thru this hard time.

After today's upsetting news, hope this distraction helps. Used po po M&P 15's for $299. Vendor does not charge the TN 10% penalty, shipping out here to the east side came back @ $17. https://armsunlimited.com/smith-wesson-m-p15-5-56mm-semi-auto-ar15-rifle/

Is that second one what they mean by a ghost gun? Sorry man, couldn't pass that one up, GLWTS

This is heartbreaking to hear. Anyone that has had the pleasure of meeting Jim and talking with him about life know what a great person he is. I can't believe it's been almost 6 months since I last talked to him. He shared his situation, and I was struck with the poise and grace he had in accepting what may be coming. His thoughts were not for himself, but for Kathy and his family. Prayers for his family. I hope for them the same peace he has.

Dont know what your 'thing' you referred to may be, but the answer is almost always keep it and add the other I love my FNX-T, very accurate and reliable. Great suppressor host. The only knock some may have on it is the grip. It's on the larger side and its more tactical brick than meant to complement the human hand. I'd say look at the HK's pretty hard. The HK45 series are great guns, shoot equally well, and easily modified. Their 45T is ergonomically superior imo. Some may prefer brick over finger grooves, definitely a choice, but the non USP is designed with the human hand in mind. If you like the brick feel, then USP.

Offering free to anyone who wants to pick em up.

Don’t live there to know the shops, but Sportsman’s Warehouse has some assorted parts. Some are in kits. Generic or bargain name brands in many cases. Prices are not bargain name though

Generally i’ve not really seen much offered in south east TN, albeit only a 5 years sample of time. The population is just too small Agree volume is down recently. But I see it as consistent with the usual cycle where fear drops and we enter into a glut, then prices drop. AR’s are a good indicator of overall market condition IMO. Notice discounts and rebates are also coming back post pandemic driven shortages and pricing. I attribute it to the favorable SCOTUS decisions and easing laws, the election while favorable as well wasn’t the main driver with this trend starting over a year ago as rulings began to have effects. With the pricing drop, flippers went away and owner sellers are less inclined to sell. Had the election gone the other way, those holding would have sold into the fear increase…so barring a fear driver…don’t expect it to change much in the next couple years.

imo it’s a bit more than competition. Smith sat on its laurels, don’t correctly build to the old standard, and decided to drop all q/a. While Colt has put a concerted effort into its revolvers and has surpassed Smith with out-of-the-box build. And of course, there is that silly lock thing
