  1. That is certainly what most will have you believe using conventional thoughts out there. But if one looks, and not too far, they see the impossible delivered which should make one wonder. Truth is, it just takes engineering and a good design. Which cost money. Which eats into profits, etc etc. Two examples of the impossible that come to mind. My Beretta 92's conversion kit 15 rounds which feed perfectly. And right up top, hipower's reference to the Taurus with its 16 round capacity. 22wmr is not 22lr, but rimiless, But Keltec manages to squeeze 30 of them into a non curved mag. A couple years ago peeps said it was impossible to get more rounds in a micro 9, remember. 7 or 8. But both Sig and SA put more than $20 into R&D of conventional mags and sorted it out.
  2. It just occurred to me that the main reason I'm so opposed to 10 round mags is that I'm emotionally scarred from being in a ban state for so long is that now, my first reaction when I see 10 round anything is to want to stomp on it and throw it in the garbage.
  3. No doubt, that is all that matters. Nothing sucks more than spending big money on a collectible safe queen that doesnt work or isnt fun to shoot. You'll have to update this when you take it out. Its too bad you didnt get one earlier. I had 3 cans (600 rounds) of surplus Greek HXP ammo in the Classifies here for sometime. Its like finding your rifle, timing is everything.
  4. I think we should clarify something as Glock haters are reading this as a Glock lover thing when that isnt it and they are missing the point. Rather its a general 22 thing. I own no 22 semi auto guns (or rifles) that only hold 10. I care less whose name is printed on it. Just because its a standard does not stop it from being nonsense. Its just agreed on nonsense, which much is worse. Folks accepting it overtime are actually part of the problem it perpetuates. It makes as much sense as everyone whacking themselves in the head with a hammer everyday at 3PM because we all agree to do it. How about not doing it because it makes no sense? By that same token, 10 round 22 mags in a full size gun no matter whose name is on the side makes no sense. If someone wants to play the Liberal states rationale. There are plenty of guns sold for compliant states where they stick in the weenie mags in place of their real ones. All makes do it. Why only make the weenie mags the only option for 22?
  5. Technically your barrel is not correct for the receiver, but even if it's a mix master, that's not a bad thing. It's just a value thing.
  6. Cut OP rods have a radius machined into them where the handle meets the saddle that's under the barrel. Else it's a straight 90 degree. Intent was to take out a stress riser. HRA rods usually aren't cut.
  7. One of mine is in that range. Its '55. Some of the barrels could predate by 6 months and still be considered correct. For example, a 55 receiver could have a late 54 barrel. Like G man said, your stamp under the op rod will show you. If it went thru arsenal, it could have a replacement LMR barrel and still be fine. The op rode will be stamped on the inside of the forwad part of the handle. The trigger group parts are next. Some HRA hammers were not stamped iirc. Trigger guards were not stamped either, but your appear to the correct style.
  8. OOOOhhhhhh!! They may not be loved by all, but I am a huge fan of wood and steel service style rifles. Nice! More pics and details!! You need to pop it out of the stock and start looking over the components for appropriate stamps. Even if its not all correct, it looks pretty nice in that one pic. Plenty of online references for serial ranges by maker as well as ID guides documenting markings. CMP forum is a great resource. You can buy a throat and muzzle gauge to check out where the barrel is. I've got a couple HRA service grade specials. I hope you find it all correct.
  9. The (real)10mm round runs higher pressures so the chambers / barrels and related compenents are larger (beefier). In the 10mm and 45ACP Glock world, they have their own larger dedicated frame and slides so they dont blow up the smaller frame/slide bits (which is why they had to go that way after they tried)
  10. The straw for me was both Comcast and At&t dropped Bein sports, which is the only network that works with he various motorcycle racing organizations. A couple years ago we ended up with retaining our At&t fiber internet, pulling out my old OTA HD antennae from 10 years ago, and signing up with Sling TV. Subsidised by a SSD to record the OTA shows. Recently adding a 4k Firestick for no particular reason other than it was on sale for $25. All run thru a last gen Smart TV. Lots of overlaps in functionality, and enough remotes that my wife has no idea what does what. What I found in that time is, cord cuttings is easiest for those that have just a few or limited requirements, dont particular care about whats on. Meaning they stick to a handful of shows on the major networks and dont use to many premium channels. Like anything, you have to fit a use case for it to really make sense. If you had a high level Cable package with premiums included, to match that ala cart, you start approaching the same overall expenditure. And truth be told, most of the non cable alternatives do sacrifice a little bit of stability compared to the more developed cable solutions. When our DVR stream is botched (happens from time to time) I get nasty looks from my wife who says she wants to go back to cable if its a show she likes. The stability is simply a function of living on the bleeding edge of tech. Cord cutting does not have the maturity afforded by Cable solutions have had had 20+ years of sorting out. But it is improving. Cord cutting has changed quite in just 2 years. So many more players and pricing is starting to increase. The draw you in prices are being ramped up as new services are being offered at higher buy in with the promise of delivering more. The savings margin is still there is you are very simple in your needs. But the delta is closed up a bit. Its interesting to note, that the major network consolidation and buyouts are having an effect. And its in no small part to them being aware of consumer frustration and cord cutting. Their weapon is pulling contracts or raising prices to the alternative service providers to allow them their content. That is part of the reason the prices are increasing. Or in some cases, loosing content on the cord cutting end. Case in point, Sling until last month offered NBC OnDemand. Comcast, who owns NBC said...hey....no way, you have to show us the money because peeps are ditching our BS boxes. Sling told them to go take a hike. So now, you no longer see those offered on on their service, and Fox's parent company did the same with them. Sling on the down low removed both from the menu. You pay the same as a result, just lost content for those handful of times the OTA DVR recording is messed up. Now consider that Disney is trying to buy the world, trying to end around the FCC regs of one company not owning more than one network....ABC and Fox, Marvel....its going to be interesting. Long way to say....enjoy it while you can. Big Money is not happy about lost profits and is going to make it harder in the future.
  11. Man, I thought everyone in the surrounding states were good ole boys. Guess not. Disheartening to see libtard governors taking strongholds. Sadly we need to realize that the Republican offerings are poor and they need to evolve if we want to preserve freedoms. Add Washington state to the list. AG put up a number of bills has he has in past years, but first time the gov is backing them. They hare using the CA playbook. Bans on guns, nags, and ammo.
  12. Howdy from the other side of Town. Nice to see more folks out here in the stix
  13. Thanks for the review Ken. Its good to get some thoughts that don't come from the main review sites. I had a couple questions as I have a few Beretta's and was considering one. Had you used Vertec frames in the past and liked them? What did you think of the trigger feel and reset and have you had a chance to play with it's adjustments? Have you tried the Langdon Optimized trigger bar in any of your other 92's? Myself I've was not too fond of the Vertec as I was getting some beavertail bite and it was a hair smallish. Probably should have tried it longer, but after so many miles on the standard grip.... I love the Langdon trigger bar even with its quirk of rubbing the right grip. Its pretty much transformative. Unbelievably so. Am curious how their advertised 40% reduction equates and any other tricks they may have thrown in which may effect trigger feel.
  14. Pretty much this!!! That was where my money was. 10mm is in vogue and theirs is looooong in the tooth. I put my 20C top end one of my RTF2 SF frames....with this kind of offering, that's probably as good as it will get.
  15. I want to like most everything that goes bang. I am sure it has a market. I'll never quite understand the moratorium on realistic capacity mags for anything .22, That to me is where they could have provided a nod to us who are jaded and looking for a reason to justify it. I don't see a feature setting it apart from the competition. Its squarely aimed at Glock fans or users who are not fond of Glock conversion kits for training (retaining the 5.5 to 6 lb Glock trigger). Missed opportunities in my opinion. Not sure who all was involved in the vid. But seems that this gun is mostly for girls. https://www.armytimes.com/video/2019/12/13/a-first-look-at-the-new-glock-44-gearscout-guide/
  16. IIRC, the 21 was an off shoot of the 20 vs the other other way around. It was built big for the pressures. And they just relieved the 10mm parts to get the bigger opening for the 45 and had enough meat left to make the lower pressure 45 OK.
  17. Is it me or is this thread somewhat timely as we are full on in Black Friday week? Sadly I found it too late to curb my compulsion this go round. I appreciate the sobering thoughts. For transplants who lived it restricted states, the first year or two of the open firearm buffet seems to shut down your awareness and logic. A few months ago I was able to rein it in and was picking thru things to thin. I dabbled. But I still keep walking up to the buffet line because its there and I can still walk. With resolution season just ahead, its a good reminder that staying lean applies to a good many more things.
  18. Careful what you ask for
  19. Glad to hear there was no injury save a bit of furniture. Good on you for sharing. It really is a good illustration of how one can be cognizant of said rule, but how concentration or focus on a tangent can make you miss something obvious. Appreciate the confidence to share the story!
  20. Appreciate that, SG has been a go to. They had been out of the Fiocchi for a while, but see its back in. Thanks for the reminder. When I was looking, I saw a couple chrono test of the IMI, and its pretty hot and was pushing the barrier. Over at times thru a Scorpion pistol. I can understand that. Funny thing was I walked away thinking almost the same and questioning even owning a 9mm can if ammo to make them usefull is as much or more than commercial 45. I justified it for the size, but we'll see maybe with some better ammo.
  21. Being a transplant from a restricted state, I only recently have used suppressors. On trying out my new Obsidian45 and Kraken9, I was let down a bit by the Speer 147gr I shot thru the Kraken. It didn't seem any quieter than 124gr Nato though is suppose to be subsonic. I used my hearing protection (outdoor) for both. On looking around, I've seen some comments the Speer is louder. Would like some recommendations of readily available 147 grain that y'all may have found to work best. I've seen reviews that Hush 165 is the gold standard, and 158gr Fiocchi is good. They are not easy to find, so hopefully something less exotic does the trick.
  22. Move the target down range for the pic, eh? Seriously, nice shooting and great collection of toys. I like how you roll, I cant decide to I'll as many as fit in this bag....
  23. Congrats on a nice find. The book and the street dont seem to reflect cult following the same. They arent making anymore of those, and that does look to be in pretty nice shape. Seems a fair price that someone looking would be happy to pay. That forum isnt that bad, as long as you own a Sig and dont talk kindly about most other guns in a Sig specific forum. Lots of really good folks and great resource if you need it. I've had members send me top ends for comparison and measuring, so some great enthusiasts. Couple things that might be pointed out if you post pics. The mag has a good number of dings in the baseplate which is not consistent with an unfired safe queen but that one may not be its original mag if they owned other 228's. The barrel hood shows a bit more finish wear than I'd expect for a gun that was only test fired at the factory with minimal dry firing. To be fair, the old Sig barrel finish did show wear quickly unlike the modern finish, which can take well over a thousand rounds to show wear depending on lube and cleaning. Either way, you dont see them in that shape very often. Enjoy.
  24. Its not that they use anyone cheaper per se. Hozzie is referring to commercial rates vs retail, which can be significant, buy not all use commercial. The reason FFLs can ship so much more cheaply is they are not held to Fedex / UPS only for handguns, nor are they required to ship overnight / 2nd day Express or air, FFLs can they can use ground, which is where the big savings come in, or USPS for handguns for closer destinations where they beat the other carrier ground rates.
  25. The pattern repeats as normal. What it says is they cant throw up the silhouette. The ONLY time you see the weapon upfront and center in the first 4 to 6 hours (and why we have been expecting it) is when they can jump up and down with glee over tragedy to say its was an "assault weapon". The fact that its a day later and there is little detail, and most top searches show mainly local or print media's web coverage is that the big news left propaganda machines are passing on the tragedy. It simply does not fit their current agenda and efforts for bans. They care not about these kids, only promoting their agenda. And Why they pass on the 40 to 50 shootings in major metro cities weekly. The info out there suggests its something like a P80 large frame Glock 45. CA law recently required they be serialized and registered to DOJ. But since you can get them in the mail without much effort, I am sure it'll turn up he went around it and they will flap about it very briefly. But the media pretty much is done on the Ghost gun thing. They know they have mass support on those evil black rifles and all their effort is there to give two rips about these poor kids.
