Big housing demand is putting huge demand on copper. Its a perfect storm. What kinda surprises me is ranges are still really busy. But there is a decided shift. Less plinking range use and more on the line at the 100yd rifle with a big bias toward 22lr. Range was busiest I have seen it last Sunday when it was about 42 degrees. 6 of 8 on the line where shooting .22lr. I dont reload, or own any of the equipment, but I have been saving my brass. Hell if I know why with what y'all are saying about component prices.

I was going to mention exactly that. When we moved out here we used a major moving for household goods. My 3+ tons of ammo could not be moved with home goods due to hazard limitations. I was not going to let them move my guns anyway. 1 way Uhaul was what I was looking at. But the cost renting from CA during summer was going to be more having a freight carrier move ammo after it was put on palates. I was able to being all my guns in my vehicles. If I was closer than that, or it was another season with low demand, I would have U-hauled.

I feel your pain. So much resonates with earlier houses and that feeling market prices will escalate forever which drove you to settling. Like Fujimo, my sense is not sustainable. History is on our side, and the minor correction that started at the end of 2019 was quickly erased and forgotten as the CV influence changed the housing market. While senses and history says wait it out and get twice as much, its tougher today because of one important variable that never existed in past bubbles. CV has signficant taken out the requirement of being "closer to work" that kept rural buys reasonable. We are currently getting land pressure from those that can work remote as CV has proven that remote workers are more than viable and companies now see the light of cost savings in overhead. We moved here in 2018, having taken me about 5 years of pleading with my wife to leave CA. I got the green light summer 2017 to put our house up for sale. Over that time, really starting in 2016, I was watching prices out here. They seem to really ramp up in the beginning of 2017. I did some scouting trips and at that time felt prices were high based on having seen the recent jumps from earlier in 2017. I should have jumped on some contingent offers, but I was seeing, even back then, homes with any land that were decent sold in a day. If it makes you feel any better, yes today is worse due to CV having rocked the market, but its really been noticably bad for a bit longer so dont feel you've just recently missed it. We are renting and paying waaay more than we should because landlords can. Setting a pile of money on fire every month is painful. At this point I am committed to staying the course and sitting on the equity from our CA home hoping post CV reality will take hold. Especially when .gov powers down the money printing presses driving the economy from crashing in on itself ala 2008. I won't settle or overpay. Worse case I will move elsewhere if the work from home crowd takes over TN because the politics will be changing soon after. Little anecdote on selling in this market. We have a large farm house on 30 acres in very rural south GA we are selling. Some folks from hoity-toity part of Atlanta came to look at it as they are escaping the big cities. His only real question and biggest concern....can I get a high speed internet connection for work. When that moves to the top of buyers requirements list for homes, we know we are in a different place.

After so many lean years, I can understand making hay while the sun shines even if it sits a bit uncomfortable. I think this behavior is really where a lot of the volume goes though the media and manufactures likes to point at "new gun owners". Its the same thing we saw happen post Sandyhook when season buyers bought up everything to resell. We will see the same as soon as B-dog drops the ban word. The mag run should be impressive to watch. That last part about intermediaries....that is some good forward thinking. Knowing some have a long memory for when the lean time hit and not alienate those that would hold the max profit stuff against them. Thanks for sharing!

I have some of the Korean tanker mags. They run well. They are notorious about their tab thickness causing them not to lock in on some guns. Newest ones are suppose to be better, but if not a few passes with a file and you get that custom fit

Do you need to add value? I imagine they could argue they are by increasing availability from a highly localized area to a national offering as the seller does not make it available for online purchase. Exactly what Amazon does with some food stuffs. But yes, it would be nice is someone smacked them on the pee pee. Like the cat dude was saying, they recognize regulars, it would be nice if they put limits on them like grocery stores were. May stop some even if unenforceable. Are these guys camping out at the stores the night before? How is that rush in the AM. They wait in the car and when the first guy exits there is a mad spring to the door? I'd almost like to see that.

No issue out of that MOE version in any of my AK's. Hair tight in my Polish AK. They dont fit a couple speed loaders designed for the smaller metal form factor. If you like poly mags, I recommend the Bulgy poly's. They are metal reinforced and fit well in pretty much anything and are inexpensive. I have some steel Bulgy's that wont fit my Polish but good in others. If you look at tanker size 20 rounds. The PMAG version I tried (4 of them) would spring bind at 19 rounds FWIW.

Are the margins that good after tax to make it worth it? What does 1k rnds of brass 9mm go for there nowadays?

Love the sentiment. But it has it own politics! In the spirit of playing along. I've had a metric ton of things, which is only a smattering of what I'm some of the more life experienced here have had. To make this more fair, you really have to consider platforms that you have run several thousand rounds thru to get a good sense of new vs worn in, and issues with mag designs as they age. Across mine, only one has never every failed to go boom in about 30+ years. My 92 with 15k+ rounds thru it. Even old worn mag springs dont seem to stop it. I've had a couple nose dives from Glocks, but that is considering I run 6 or 7 different ones and was more mag related. Never had a problem out of a CZ, but dont have nearly the round counts thru me compared to others. Generally I think most are pretty damn good. I could say, there is one platform that I love (and so does pretty much everyone else) which I WISHED was more reliable. Because it is a political thing, I ain't gonna say it out loud. But its not hard to guess what every serious American gun owner has or has had over their time.

I'll second that. I found the lacquered stuff leaves some residue in hot chambers of AK's. My first CZ527 had a tight chamber and after a few rounds, tended to be hard to chamber/extract with lacquered Golden Tiger, but ran fine with non lacquered.

These are the ones I was referring to for my trade ins. They are OEM for Sig Sauer as well, so having used them in my Sig 1911's it was a known quantity for me. The issues generally are related to the mag bodies having some forming variation causing the excellent mag follower to hang up in the top third of the tube. All easy to sort out though if you run 8 round mags.

There is a wide range of behavior, and it does not generalize well. There is a marked difference between opportunists who seek out and buy up high demand items during a (perceived) crisis versus selling excess or items you planned to sell and you are afforded the rare opportunity to break even or profit instead of taking the usual loss due to market conditions. We are talking the differences between in timing, scale, and intent. Plus value judgements. Are you moral for selling home in a down market vs immoral for selling when the market is high? Closer to home. What about the guys who simply enjoy buying and selling characterized by going to auctions or prowl the classified for deals, and later selling them at a profit? The difference being a year and half ago they were just a gun enthusiast doing a classic buy low sell high without issue. Now they sell, and make a bigger margin due to increased demand we need to view them differently. Is the expectation they should take all items off market and wait until a republican is in office and there is a glut? Economics does not make someone evil. Not that there aren't those who you'd love to see hung by their junk. The guy last March who bought up the 18k bottles of hand sanitizer for example. The flip side of that seems to demand you never accept something discounted. Is that not the buyer taking advantage of market conditions? We all seek out to pay full price at all times, right? Whether its someone who is forced to sell on a timeline for cash versus or someone selling during a glut, anyone buying is therefore just as immoral. Some even "stack it deep" on speculation without that same value judgement. May be a touch hypocritical.

That is the one advantage perhaps in going with an auction. You can set a starting price that is a good deal. If it goes for more, that is not on you. I generally start an item here under market, no takers than I try auction. Id rather have it stay here, but we all know what cheapskates we all are I like to think it’s not rationalizing scalping. It cuts both ways, it’s not like someone is going to offer me a solid the other direction, right? Say, “hey,...whatever you want you get at historically low prices no matter what or when you buy it “ If I choose to buy today of my on volition, I don’t think I’m being taken advantage of. Buyers determine their own needs in a free market.

They are fine, you may have to adjust the body width or the area where it transitions to the feed lips to get proper function and pass all the standard 1911 mag checks. This is an annual deal with EB. I swapped about 20 mags a couple years ago. I think I had 7 out of that batch that had follower bind. Slightly out of spec body, but easy enough to open up. After that, all work just fine the 4 1911’s I tested them with.
