  1. Keep an eye at Bass Pro, they were selling them without markup. I got both of mine there. You’ll love it. I’ve got an Apex PPQ and Walther figured out a lot of tricks working with them. They don’t come in 5”, but 4.5 for the longer version. I’d offer you my full size, but I got the 4” version
  2. That was a great movie!
  3. There was a thread. But no one cared it would appear. Or at least it lacked the panache of your posts that get folks to respond I picked a couple up, but I got the impression the folks here are more interested in PSA AR’s as more worthy of their time.
  4. A man after my own heart. I am still in search of the holy grail. Its great to have options and seeing improvements on AR specific tools. I just bought the VISM Receiver block to try out https://www.ncstar.com/optics-acc/tools/ar15-tools/vtaruvb-upper-receiver-block-for-ar-15 I got them for 308 and AR15. It seemed to offer retention at the charging handle channel, bottom of the receiver and its lugs. Best of all worlds. I knew it was Chinese made, but it seemed to have good reviews and good concept without having to worry about extension splines or pin shearing. I found the VISM tool is sloppy fitting, neither having any upper channel engagement, doing all the work at the detent pin lugs, which is not ideal. No improvement over the plastix revolution low end version. I would say anyone looking at it, they should pass. The URR is still best of breed in its price class for those that are not die hard clamshell guys. I think this is next up for me to try is the JP receiver block. Some may say its just the glorified version of sticking it between a couple 2x4's, but it engages the lug to prevent any rotation without the need to vise pressures that can crack the receiver. Only concern being finish marring. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1007099477
  5. Quick note on these. Yes they are fantastic, I sold off my Geissele's after upgrading. I have both for the AR10 and AR15. But...if you have an alignment issue with the extension lugs do all you can to verify, it may not be your receiver or extension, but the tool out of spec. They do not do the machine cut for the charging handle fin, its subbed out. How do I know this.... First time I used my 308 MI rod in putting together an upper, it would not line up, was off a few degrees. It fit the extension lugs without the receiver ruling out the lug cut, and the extension pin was centered on top and feed ramp lugs, and a laser showed it in line with the gas port. Hmmm. I then tried it on 2 factory AR10's builds and it would not engage their lugs. I then started to look at the fin and could see it was just a hair offset. I called MI and they initially denied it could be the tool because they are supposedly QC'd blah blah. Then commenced to blame my upper receiver being out of spec. I explained it more slowly and deliberately why that was not the case and what checks were run. Was asked to call back tomorrow and talk to so and so. Upon doing so, they copped to having a batch that their machining contractor flubbed the fin cut on. They offered to go ahead and swap it, apologizing for the "confusion". Replacement Rod was good to go, slipped right into all 3. Moral of the story, verify a new rod if first use finds an alignment issue, it may not be your parts.
  6. Thanks for tracking on it. I have just noticed that 762x39 has jumped another $100. So the pressure is increasing. I was at Bass Pro this Monday. They said they got more 9mm after a wait over a week. They are not putting it out, they are holding it back for those buying pistols. They are charging $15 per box for 9mm range ammo, and I am sure that is at a fair profit margin. So that confirms in recent time the distributors are still not the issue. FWIW, I passed on buying the ammo.
  7. My EMP went back for light primer strikes (titanium firing pin) to get get a proper steel firing pin. It received on a Tuesday and back in the mail on Thursday, so cant ask for much better. They have great customer service from the two times I have had to work with them. Good luck, I am sure they will get you sorted.
  8. Kinda if you like it in mini form
  9. Not sure the type of roof rack you'd need for your beetle
  10. The P227 is a great gun, it should not have been discontinued. I had a Tacops and in general the 14 round deal gave it a bad rep, outside them being a bit girthy compared to the 220 grip. All you have to do is get some heavier springs and they worked 100%. If you can find 14 rounders. You probably have already noticed the 14 round mags seem to be triple gold plated so folks want a mint for them. The 10's are only silver plated You can still get P227 Tacops extended G10 grips if you want them. Many of us use to get a spare set and cut them down for the 10 rounders. I still have a new set of them if you end up wanting the extended grip and find 14's. Enjoy! Look forward to the pics.

    Wrong forum

Its still a novel concept to me, not being treated like a gun buyer is a problem waiting to happen. CA did not allow more than 1 every 30 days on top of the 10 day waiting period. The first couple months here, I did go pretty nuts. The upside to the pandemic lack of supply and overpricing in is it helps rein that in. BTW, that PPQ is one I already owned. I just got the 2 PDP's. Though someone may want to see is replacement next to one. Looks like we dont have many Walther fans though.
  12. ...
  13. Well that sounds a bit racist All those are born equally evil !
  14. If you have any problems making arrangements, I’ll be glad to give it a try with my MGW tool. If just ask you cover the chest of the APX shoe ( should be less than $20) and I’d give you the shoe after. Conversely, I could offer you a deal on a MGW sight pro. I have two and could sell one, but you’d still need to buy the shoe for it.
  15. That's an impressive restoration, great job on the wood repair. It pretty much heirloom worthy now
  16. Well there you went and named the things I was (maybe too obviously) talking around....because they are where (?) no no's. Weaponizing civil rights! Control of Media. The building blocks of securing 1A for the few to control the message, use against the many who are forbidden to use 1A or have a forum to demonstrate for their beliefs or protect their rights.
  17. If your system is cycling to defrost very frequently (it will switch on the strips to offset defrost, which is really turning the AC mode on) that will let you know how well your set up is doing and what makes the most sense for any real low temps. At the point its continually having to defrost, you may as well just keep emergency heat on since it will warm better than having that same usage offset by it blowing cold air thru the handler when it is defrosting (blow heat thru the outside coils). No free lunch. New systems are efficient enough to let them do their thing, but older ones may not be and the intergoogles one size fits doesnt beat making a call based on your specific observations of how its working.
  18. That's seems really dark for you David. It almost made me soil myself a bit. Even though I expected some real &*!& storm, to see the nuclear option in writing....well damn. I am glad you referred to the full spectrum of events and interrelationship. Though they are items that are of a political nature and not 2A on the surface, so verboten, their significance is crucial for folks here to understand if they did not really understand the true nature of what has been occurring over the better part of the year. With that mind, and the full realization that these other political ideas are in fact inextricably linked to their well engineered, orchestrated, and executed attack on 2A....I submit perhaps considering some limited references and discussion of those when used in proper context. I'm going to bet not all have connected the dots as we watched the media spin and propagandize to get the players cast in a certain light. As it is right now, I'm taking around it as it can bring a warning. I appreciate that looking back at precipitating events / movements, linking any of them (or their misuse as media tools) to 2A concerns and the resultant publicly accepted opinion of gun owners could be very very problematic for some. Its probably wishful thinking if it was felt folks could not handle it before. Damned if you do, damned if you dont. Look at it this way y'all, if they take our guns, the ridiculous ammo prices stops being a problem.
  19. Welcome to TGO. I sympathize, having left CA not to long ago I can tell you its worth the effort if you have a good plan and reasons other than 2A. In the past 2 years I've driven thru Atlanta over a couple dozen times. I just cant see what possess someone to be in that hot mess. And of course felt sorry for anyone who lived there as we watched them becoming the newest liberal darling.
  20. That's is a very generous offer and I appreciate that! I dont really need any, maybe a few more AR10 pmags. It was more to take advantage of the rare Midway discount if they had a good price on em. You know how it is, I dont need that...wait its on sale. I blame my wife for getting me to start thinking that way.
  21. I have to assume David's news has been well distributed throughout the gun community. And they have been fast to mobilize. I was doing my Midway B-day order, and though, well I could get a couple more PMAGs. Wrong. Just checked the major sites, AR PMAGS are OOS pretty much everywhere. While the pandemic frenzy has kept pressure on them, you could still get them pretty easily. Being OOS almost at the major online retailers in a few hours is not a great sign. The magic BAN word in the message has folks snapping up everything. If you think you may need it, dont dilly dally. I imagine tomorrow ill see the speculators at the LGS's buying up potential ban victims. The folks running Gunbroker are doing a happy dance right about now.
  22. Politicians don't need the law to be effective, they just need to disarm the law abiding There was no need for prognastics, like I said at the time, they promised to do this during he campaign. The only question was timing if they needed an trigger event, pun intended. And with this guy, clearly not. I think cheap boats will be in short supply soon, hit craigslist now!
  23. I imagine if someone is curious what the ramifications are, all they need do is look at history. In this case, Dan Wesson. A company being poorly run and unable to maintain standards as it circled the drain. Sound familiar? This can only mean good thing’s for the pony. CZ has a good eye in recognizing they can make bank on a recognized name with a rabid fan base. The profitability with their retro lines especially. I would love to see them bring back their rifle line to what it was.
  24. The number of sellers on GB, typically with no feedback or very low are up, so they must be getting it locally. Overall trend is good. But from the couple places I get emails from, like J&G, they are going up on AK rounds. Was between 400 to 450 a couple weeks ago, now @ $529 per 1k
  25. I noticed over the weekend the 22 prices on GB where tracking lower with more low to no feedback sellers jumping in upping the supply. Likely the folks standing in line at Academy trying to wet their beaks. As good a sign as that is, AK ammo seems to have ticked up. Hopefully riding the boat now.
