I haven't either. I don't really care much about the discount. To me, this is more about being singled out by companies. Seems to me that they don't want to be associated with folks like us. I posted this in another topic, but thought it'd be relevant here too. I called the NRA membership rep and they're offering lifetime membership for around 50% off. The regular membership went from $1,500 to $750 and distinguished membership (+65 and disabled veteran) went from $750 to $375. As I said on the other post, my numbers may be slightly off, but close enough. All you have to do is call in and ask for the discount. I don't know how long it'll be going on. Please pass along to anyone you think would be interested. Great way to make a donation and get a lifetime membership at the same time. ^^^Disclaimer- I don't work for the NRA and only know the details I'm passing along from my call with them a few days ago. Totally agree. We need to get as many new members to join as possible and get existing members to be vocal. We've been the silent majority too long. Several companies are severing ties with the NRA. If you use their products/services, please let them know your opinion. I submitted the email below to National and got a quick response back that it would be "submitted to management for consideration". Dear National, I have been an executive elite member for about 12 years. I regret to inform you that I will no longer be doing business with your company because you have decided to cave into public pressure and disassociate yourself with the NRA. I don't feel that businesses should have a voice on social issues, but I respect your right to do so. I have the same right not to do business with you and I will choose to exercise it. I have a feeling that you may be getting several million more emails just like this. I've enjoyed working with your company and it will take some time to get use to using another company. Anytime. I definitely understand the frustration. I felt the same way while I was in. The disdain is equally applied to service members as well. I was reminded several times that we're there to protect other people's rights, not our own. The service members have to check their 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendments at the door when they sign on the dotted line. I was a Drill Instructor on MCRD Parris Island. I would recommend staying in Beaufort. The Hilton Garden Inn is nice and convenient to PI. Make sure you enjoy the great seafood while you're there. Dockside is probably the best. There are also some nice restaurants on the waterfront in downtown Beaufort. You'll have plenty of time to see PI on Family Day visitation (Thurs). Arrive early enough to beat work and visitor traffic to get a good spot to watch them on their motivational run on Thurs morning. "Traditions" is a nice place to eat lunch with your new Marine. It's a buffet and reasonably priced. Make sure to see the museum for sure. Don't bring any weapons on to Parris Island. They do random vehicle checks and you will be arrested if they find one. I had friend a few months ago that forgot his edc was in the glove box and spent 11 hours in jail and then dealing with the aftermath. I believe the Hilton Garden Inn has in room safes for storage.
