Eddie Southgate replied to Ray Z's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
You really should learn how to spell Stupid before you handle firearms and ammo . -

$119.99 Mosin with pictures!
Eddie Southgate replied to ironsniper1's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Looks like he didn't understand the directions so he just peed on the whole rifle . Use evaporust to soak it in , you can buy it at tractor supply . Won't be any bluing left but it doesn't look like there would be much anyway . Did you ask at the local monument place . The one by Springhill Cemetery in Nashville used to do Harley frames for me for not too much , cheaper than stripper and the car wash . -
31 caliber revolver "Update"
Eddie Southgate replied to xsubsailor's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Very nice work . Woolco in Nashville sold CVA kits in the late 70's for $39.95 . I built one of the .31 cal and a .36 cal also . They were a lot of work to make nice but you seem to be up to the job . -

JJ Weston (Pieper) Belgium Double Barrel
Eddie Southgate replied to 19_A_CPT's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Have it checked by somebody that knows damascus . If you have pitting in the barrel at all I would not shoot it . You could buy some of the sleeves and shoot a smaller gauge shell but they are not cheap . Any way you go I would not shoot anything heavier than the RST Light 2.5 loads . Damascus can have damage that you can't see , rust in the twist but not showing on the surface . Piper made a good solid gun with good barrels but they are way over 100 years old . Good Damascus is safe with loads in the pressure range they were intended for but smokeless loads are very rarely in that range and have a totally different pressure curve than the black powder or semi smokeless that was the norm when those barrels were built. If it lets go it will not be in the chamber but most likely 16" to 18" down the barrel where your hand will be on the forearm . You could buy some brass shells and load with Black Powder or an equivalent load of one of the non corrosive substitutes if the barrels are found to be in safe condition . That's what I'd do as it would be the safest and least expensive in the long run . Briley tubes are great but they are not cheap. https://www.briley.com/c-238-tube-sets-and-tube-set-accessories.aspx -
Tennessee longrifle show
Eddie Southgate replied to xsubsailor's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
The park where they held the Alabama show got hit by a Tornado but they still had the show . Now Corona gets the Tennessee show , figures . -
Welcome.

For just strolling the woods I like my old CZ Ringneck in 28 gauge with 30" barrels . It is light and easy to maneuver and has screw in choke tubes . I have others for Birds and Rabbit hunting but just knocking around this is almost always what I grab .

Just gave my youngest son my dads old Bulldog , he loves it . 250 grain Keith bullets with 7.5 grains of Unique is what I load for it . He says they are a bit snappy ! Eddie

The one in the center is my new .44 special 5 1/2 " . Lower is my Colt .45 Colt 4 3/4" . Not a good quality picture but I am kinda slow to pick up skill with these new fangeled cameras .

Good for you .

Got my paps 1955 Blachawk when my dad died in August . It has always been #2 on my holy grail list right behind the Triple Lock .44 Target I'll never own . Eddie

Not really sure , can't remember which forum it was on for sure . It was a thread asking if anybody thought deer were bothered by smoking cigaretts or the occasional joint in the deer stand to help combat boredom .
-
Ya'll don't reckon that's the guy that posted the other week wanting to know if it would be a problem if he smoked a joint in his deer stand to fight boredom do ya ? Sounds like something he might do out or boredom .
-
Of the two I would take a Marlin . Not the low end one , I would look for one of the better ones . Or just save your money and buy a Browning BLR .
-
No, no, no! You're much too young! The good old days were walking into Western Auto at 12 years old and buying two 50 round boxes of .22 (LR, long or shorts) for 50 cents. Funded with your cashed in soda bottles at 2 cents each! Done just exactly that myself only it was usually Winchester .22 Auto for my 1903 . Eddie

Husband Denied Carry Permit
Eddie Southgate replied to JCanan's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'd get documentation on the medication and side effects from his doctor as well as his military record and try to apply in person rather than online . Get the doctor to write a paper stating that he has no known mental issues and that that the meds caused the problem and that he is no longer taking them and has had no further problems stating how long he has been off them . Might not make any difference but that is what I would try first . Damn shame to be punished for telling the truth . Eddie -
What scope is that ? Looking for a good straight tube in 30mm for a lever action . Tell me about that one . Eddie

Real nice deer . Congratulations .
