  1. Took about 4 weeks. They sent me a FedEx label, and shipped it back FedEx, all on their dime. This morning, I ran 100 Hornady Critical Defense 115 and 100 Federal 9BP 115 HP and it ran flawlessly. I also chronographed everything. The CDs averaged about 1040-1050 and the 9BPs about 1100. Out of my 5" Trojan, the CDs averaged 1140 or so and the 9BPs about 1200. I was surprised that the CDs were that mild. I was also surprised that 2" less barrel meant a 100fps loss. Also, the EMP is noticably louder than the Trojan with the same ammo. I don't think the feedramp was off, I think it's just too steep. Other folks send theirs back and Springfield does the same thing. Makes me wonder why they don't add a couple steps to their barrel-building process. As you can see in the pics, I lost some case support, which is fine with me. Less case support = more reliability. I've always thought the Glocks-don't-have-enough-case-support-and-you-will-die-as-a-result argument is hogwash. With ~1100 rounds through the gun, accuracy seems to be tightening up. Now I need to get rid of that pesky rear sight. The gap is too narrow and I hate dots on the rear. I'm also in the market for an IWB holster. Thanks to Springfield, however, the gun is ready to carry.
  2. I don't think I've ever seen a semi-auto handgun that lined up the bullet perfectly with the barrel. How is the action any shorter than any other 9mm? Not picking at you or anything, but the EMP was designed for 9mm/.40 OAL. FWIW, the feed ramp angle does look awfully steep to me too, but I've seen feed ramps on other makes that look crazy but work well. The Croatian versions do seem to run well, from what I've seen.
  3. Well, almost everyone else raves about how their EMP feeds anything. I'll know more tomorrow morning. I'm loving my new lack of case support. A few Austrian guns I have don't have mountains of case support, and they all run like small-block Chevys. Oddly enough, before I sent it back, it ran better with Remington 124 Golden Saber than with anything else (excluding FMJ). The GS is similar to #3 in your lineup. Go figure.
  4. You might want to look into a muzzle brake...
  5. Got my EMP back from Springfield this week. The invoice says they recut the barrel ramp, polished the ramp, and polished the throat. Haven't shot it yet. I'm kicking myself for forgetting to take pics of it before I shipped it. Here are a few pics of what I got back:
  6. Yes, it says you forgot about Ruger, CZ, HK, Walther, Steyr, FN, Charter, and probably others.
  7. I believe most of those who slam Memphis for being "uninhabitable" don't live within 100 miles of it. I would like to make the September Appleseed.
  8. LOL, what does Barker know?
  9. The stage with the two mandatory tac loads looked like fun.
  10. The shooter appears to airgun before placing his gun in the box. The shooter only fires five shots on the second string (assuming the COF called for six). The shooter is not wearing concealment (again, the COF may not require this). Can't tell about the distance, but shooters cannot be required to engage targets more than seven yards away weak-handed. There is also a large fellow with a beard who seems to be anti-cameraman.
  11. Friend #1 swears by the stuff and recommended it to friend #2. Friend #2 ordered some but never got it. He called Gunzilla and they said post office delivered it on x date, not our problem. Friend #2 called post office and they said it was delivered on x date, not our problem. Friend #2 no longer wants Gunzilla. If you order some from them, make sure they ship it UPS or FedEx.
  12. Red Right and True: Marcus Luttrell will be in Memphis, TN July 4th 2010!
  13. If you go with an alloy framed 1911, be careful with your magazines. Certain mag followers will chew up your frame just below your feedramp. I know from experience (thanks Kimber!) A 1911 guru on here (maybe tim calhoun) will probably be able to shed more light on this issue. It is for real, though.
  14. IDPA match at new range in Como, MS work shoot new .308 mow grass sleep Would have loved to hear Marcus Lutrell speak today, but couldn't swing it.
  15. ????? Who have you been talking to? I've tanked every match I've shot this year.
  16. Downtown to C-ville is a long ride, but at least you'll be going against most of the traffic. You also may find that Memphis is not the warzone that many on here (who have never even been to Mphs) would have you believe.
  17. Yes--the right arm was broken. It had to be disassembled much more than I first thought. Work night or not, I needed to get it fixed and roll some match ammo for this new sorry ass 1911. Haven't shot since May 22 and I've got the IL state in a week and a half with a new gun that's totally foreign to me. Wish me luck.
  18. Gotcha beat. I just finished completely disassembling and reassembling a Dillon 550. I'll never do that again on purpose, especially on a work night.
  19. Like many, I don't cherish the idea of unnecessary gunplay when a cop demands a weapon. If I am ever pulled over and a cop wants my gun, I think I will simply unload it before handing it to him/her. I try to follow towerclimber's method--not driving like a bat out of hell reduces the number of encounter with the cops.
  20. Keep it clean and it eats lead, too.
  21. Give this guy a call for an estimate: A&H Tree Service 901-541-5776 I used him back in the fall and was highly impressed.
