I haven't read all 16 pages of this thread and don't plan on it. If the FD didn't put out the fire due to their belief that nobody will pay the fee if they do and eventually no one will have their sevices as a result, etc., then I understand where they are coming from. However, they are being hypocritical if they go ahead and put out the fire only if someone's life is in danger. Whatever the case, if the FD watched my house burn down for any reason, I probably wouldn't buy Fireman's ball tickets or donate to their causes any more.

Since I got a carry permit, I have been pulled over three times (all in TN). I've never notified an LEO that I had a permit or a gun, and they have never asked.

I found this cheap at Sportsman's Guide. It's cut EXACTLY like a 5.11, but is less than half the price. The fabric is a little lighter, though. Tact Gear Tactical Vest, Military Surplus, Brand Not Specified at Sportsman's Guide Jack, No certain type of concealment is required, but a vest of some type is a fair representation of what some folks actually use for concealment (jacket, sportcoat, fleece vest, Hawaiian shirt, etc). Heavy cotton or canvas photo vests also stand up to the abuse of competitive shooting. Also, some folks like to use one garment to avoid getting their good clothes dirty, torn up, lead-saturated, etc.

To you Nashville and Dickson guys who came to the Tri-State, the MS State match is a comparable drive (just north of Tupelo). Plus, you get to shoot in the coolest backyard in America! Ridge Crossing Shooting Club Inc. in Saltillo, Mississippi is dedicated to the Law Enforcement and Military Communities.

Found a good trade on the Smith. Besides, the Trojan hasn't exactly blown up my skirt, with all the light primer strike issues. It's still not completely ironed out. I felt like I was going slower for this match, although I think I shoot the Trojan more slowly and calmly than I do the Glock. My main goal when I went to ESP was to sacrifice a little time to gain a lot of points. With a G34 in my hand, I go completely bananas. I probably would have shot this match 15 seconds faster with 30 extra points down (at least). IMO, there is no faster gun. Fredenhagen commented that there were no gimmicks or trickery--the match just tested fundamentals (and nerves). I thought right then that if I wrote an article again, it would expand on what he said. There were plenty of tough shots, but no procedural traps. I just haven't gotten around to putting it together, and frankly, I don't know if I'll be able to. I don't want to write the standard "Stage one was this, stage two was that..." tad

My two favorite teams are the Cowboys and whoever is playing the Nashville Oilers.

Sounds like it's privately owned and not government property. The employees don't wear uniforms. I'm definitely no lawyer, though. You don't have to enter the lodge to get water, but hot chocolate, "I Hiked it in 2010" shirts, hats etc. are available inside. Whatever you do, please don't call and ask if they are posted--if they are not, your call will probably remind them that they need to post.

Willaim Forstchen's book, One Second After, dealt with an EMP attack. It's worth the read.

I wouldn't mind a semi-auto, but I see a lot of them that don't run. I think every semi-auto shooter in our squad yesterday had issues at some point. Man, you can spank some steel with a semi-auto, though.

Shot my first 3-gun match yesterday and had a ball. I figured I would stink up the shotgun stages, and I proved myself right. I used a Mossberg 590 w/ a bead, a slick-top Smith M4 w/ a Leupold CQT, and a 9mm STI Trojan. I held my own with the Smith and the STI, but struggled with the shotgun. I haven't had it long, and I found out that I either need to change how I shoulder it or get a taller bead--it shoots high. I'm tempted to look for a taller bead, because I was consistently high w/ slugs and birdshot. I also need to practice shotgun reloads (who doesn't?). Also, I realized that I need every option possible in my range bag for storing shotgun shells. I have a side saddle and a Cal Comp Works 4-round holder on my belt, but need more options. What do you guys use for shell storage?

In the world of defensive handguns, Glocks and 1911s are two of the easiest platforms to shoot quickly and accurately. They also have the widest availability of accessories and parts. Thus, you will probably hear mention of both quite frequently.

I knew no such. I don't read minds, but I also don't jump to conclusions at the mention of a vest.
