  1. It's called having a three digit IQ.
  2. Actually, NM law appears to allow concealed carry in restaurants that serve beer and wine and derive 60% of revenue from food. Perhaps Garcia's serves Coke and rum. Regardless, he probably wouldn't be facing a felony charge if he had just covered it up.
  3. 3-gun is the bomb! I shot a match this weekend. Steel at 200 yards was a blast.
  4. nicemac, Follow the manual. I can't remember exactly what it says, but it's something like turn crimp die until it touches the shell plate. Back off one full turn for light crimp, 1/2 turn for heavy crimp (or something to that effect). Lee FCD is well worth the money, IMHO.
  5. I obviously wasn't there and didn't witness the incident, but the OCer probably would have been better of if he had CCd. http://www.kob.com/article/stories/S1982974.shtml?cat=500 Diners at a Garcia's restaurant in northwest Albuquerque lost their appetites after a customer attacked another inside the restaurant at lunchtime Sunday. Police say Christopher Torres walked into the restaurant and saw another customer, John Garcia, sitting at a table eating with his family. Garcia had a gun on his hip, in a holster. Torres saw this, announced to everyone that he was a DEA agent and said he had video evidence that Garcia was planning to rob the restaurant. Torres then attacked Garcia, hitting him and trying to get the gun. The gun fell on the floor, a customer grabbed it, and then put it in the manager's office. Other customers helped restrain Torres until police arrived. Police say Torres suffers from mental issues. He was arrested and taken to the hospital for treatment. He will now face several felony charges. Garcia was also arrested because he was not allowed to take his loaded gun into a place that sells liquor.
  6. +1 I didn't know how good I had it when I was a manual laborer.
  7. kb4ns had a negative experience there, but that's the only one I've ever heard of. I've never had a problem there. No one knows what a true range nazi is unless they dealt with the one-armed guy at the old penal farm range.
  8. I've never bought one either until last week. I heard my old boss was on the cover for stalking and couldn't resist. It turned out to be true.
  9. UFOs and aliens? No. Bigfoot is for real, though.
  10. I would avoid anything that doesn't have a dovetailed front sight--not very many aftermarket options for staked sights. I'm too lazy to check the SA website, but I don't think the gun you are looking at has one.
  11. +1 I use pet store bird cage walnut media w/ a little Flitz sprinkled in.
  12. Did you get a Glock extended mag release? If so, you can use the infamous Glock tool, aka emery board, to re-shape your mag release. If you botch it, a new mag release is $4-$5, IIRC.

    If you had...

Their budget 1911, the Spartan, has a Phillipine-made frame. Their DA auto, the GP6, is Croatian. Everything else is made in TX.
  14. That's why God made bushing wrenches!
  15. Nope, you still gotta shoot one in Feb. Hopefully, we'll have one soon--I'm about to try this CDP thing. Tad
  16. Common sense is not common.
  17. This is the GI rod way.
  18. Two stories that likely resulted in at least two more places getting posted, and those are just stories that I know of. Thank God not all 300,000 OC.
  19. Throw the paper clip thing away--use your bushing wrench to remove the bushing and plug before you even remove the slide (watch for flying parts). Also, be sure of the weight of your gun with the new grips--the Trojan sometimes has trouble making weight for ESP.
  20. Not true... http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/newsworthy-reports/34487-open-carrying-told-leave-movie-theater-arrested-no-posting.html http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/newsworthy-reports/28512-open-carry-story.html
  21. They're not that bad, I just can't ever find my bushing wrench. It's not the shape of the beavertail that gets me, it's a sharp edge between it and the frame. Did it come with slip grips from Shooters' Connection?
  22. Gonna get one sooner or later. I would like a double stack .40 for IDPA, USPSA, and 3-gun.

    If you had...

I shoot competitively and Trojans seem to be the most trouble-free of the single stacks. Kimber still apparently has QC issues. Also, STI has anything you need for the gun, which can be ordered in various configurations. Try researching front sight options for an SW 1911--the choices are slim. My second choice would probably be a Colt, but availability of front sight options again is an issue. If everyone wold just use a Novak cut!
  24. The rifle range is busiest before deer season, but I've never been when it was so busy that I couldn't shoot.
