I know of many criminals who were charged with serious felonies and plea bargained down to a misdemeanor or got diversion with a clean record after X years of clean living, often because it was their first offense. One must use such incredibly bad judgment or have such bad intent that I have no problem with them being disarmed for the rest of their lives, which is, for all practical purposes, part of their sentence. I also don't care if they are non-violent. Bernie Madoff wasn't violent, but affected more people than any violent thug could. I am not stating that we should accept and abide by any laws government puts on us without questioning anything; I'm saying that criminals shouldn't have guns.

If you carry concealed and don't plan to get undressed, I don't see a problem.

I have no sympathy for the guy. He committed a crime and became a convicted felon. Then he committed another crime and is now going back to jail. Looks like he didn't learn the first time.

Or doesn't work as in the driver is making his next delivery before you find all your teeth. I used to be a driver for a major shipping company. I have dealt with every kind of dog and dog owner. Most were uneventful. Occasionally, one would have an attitude and I would simply leave, as you suggest. However, this method often results in a pissed off customer calling the company and complaining because Spot wouldn't hurt a flea, they paid good money to get it shipped 2 day, etc. and the company sends the driver right back. Combine that with the fact that drivers are pressured to get rid of the package the first day, and you might understand why a driver would try to work his way past a vicious dog. There were also times when there was no dog in sight until I made the delivery and turned to find Cujo standing between me and the truck, and he wouldn't back down. What is a driver to do then? I beat the hell out of several dogs in this situation. What would you have done? Expecting a driver "to know how to act around dogs" is impossible because no two dogs are alike and none of them are 100% predictable. Besides, it's not the driver's obligation to read your dog's mind.

LOL, forgive my airheadedness. BTW, several have mentioned muzzle brakes. While they do tame recoil, be aware that some will make the gun SIGNIFICANTLY louder.

Any chance he could still borrow it and let you try it out? What kind is it? I've shot both Winchester and Marlin .30-30s, and always thought the Winchester kicks more. Neither will kick as much as a .270 or .30-06 bolt action. Also, don't worry about having several fast follow-up shots. I bet the vast majority of hunters have never fired more than one shot at the deer they killed.

I can't comment about Hi-points or Kel-tecs, but I have witnessed or facilitated several Glock transactions for $350-$450. Other than a 17L, 24, 34, or 35, $400 is probably the average price for a used Glock around here.

FedEx guys don't usually try to deliver a package that either you didn't ask for or that someone you have some kind of relationship with needs to get to you. People get deliveries they didn't expect every day. But regardless of whether the FedEx guy is there because you asked for a delivery or he's got the wrong house; he has an much right to defend himself from harm as anyone else doesn't he??? One would think so, but a lot of dogowners don't see it that way. Some have the philosophy of Fedex kicked Spot/Spot can do no wrong/ Fedex must have provoked Spot. NEWS FLASH: Spot is just a dumb animal and may sometimes act unpredictably, especially when he is around someone who doesn't feed him.

So if a Fedex guy, who is technically uninvited, attempts to make a delivery, gets attacked by your dog, and kills the dog as a result, you would have no problem with said Fedex guy? if not, I think we are on the same page.

All this bravado about what someone will do to someone over a dog is comical. What would you do to a UPS or Fedex guy who is attempting to deliver a package you ordered and kicks your dog to avoid being bitten? You going to shoot him too? If you do anything more than cuss him out, you'll go to jail or even prison. Yes I know, Fluffy would never hurt a flea. Fluffy won't hurt YOU, but often changes personalities when a stranger comes on your property. I've witnessed it hundreds of times. I wonder if all this rabid love for dogs translates to cats, too. I suspect otherwise.

I wasn't "bitching and complaining" about the range; I was pointing out the irrationality of the insurance company. Reloads would not increase the risk to range equipment, but the range owner is held hostage by a stupid policy. I understand that. If people who question a dumb insurance policy get threatened with being "gone" then maybe the moderator needs to flush out his headgear.

I still don't see the connection between reloads and risk to range equipment.

So, it doesn't really matter if it's actually "reloaded" or not?

In light of ranges barring the use of "reloaded" ammo, what exactly is allowed? Does it have to be ammo that you bought? If you bought it, do you have to buy it from a store? Can you buy it from a friend? Does it have to come in a brand-name box? Several ammo companies offer cheaper lines of product that are apparently reloads, but are sold as new ammo. Would something like Tennessee Cartridge or Ultramax be allowed?

This has been going on forever. My dad was on an aircraft carrier in the early 60s and they would crank everything on the boat and run balls to the wall toward the Russian coast. A hundred miles out, they would go lights out and watch the Russians freak. Keep in mind, this was before satellite GPS and radar systems like we have now, but it is silly to think the Russians don't/can't snoop around out coasts. They can tell us to F off if they are more than 12 miles from our coast; we can do the same.

Right eye dominant, shoot handguns left-handed and long guns right-handed. Kick, dribble, drive nails, brush teeth, bat, golf, swing tennis rackets and ping pong paddles left-handed, but throw, write, and eat right handed. Early bait-casting fishing reels seemed to be invented by a southpaw. On semi-auto handguns, I've always wondered why the mag release is always on the left side of the gun--I've always thought it made things easier for lefties and harder for right-handed shooters. Some right-handed slide stops can be a pain to reach, though.
