  1. MCTS website says matches start at 9 am. Is this correct?
  2. I am still trying to figure out what was wrong with the 2012 rules.
  3. "All comments, reviews, and suggestions should be sent to Comments@idpa.com. Be sure to include your IDPA number as those without will not be reviewed." As if they will actually review suggestions...
  4. Ha ha ha I was thinking the same thing. Cap, you should bring your Ruger to a steel challenge match--you might just surprise yourself.
  5. Being a southpaw, I like the ambi safety. But a magazine disconnect? Why? Why? Does the Mark 3 have one? My Mark 2 does not.
  6. gotcha.
  7. How does one "de-escalate" a situation with an approaching and/or charging dog? No two dogs are alike, and an about-to-be-bitten gunowner may not have time to analyze a dog's personality. As stated above, if he didn't draw when he did, he probably would not have had another chance if the dog had attacked.
  8. The Memphis Charity Challenge (October 21-22) has been modified to allow all handgun divisions. It is typically revolver and single stack only. The match proceeds benefit LeBonheur Children's Hospital. The match is a level 2 USPSA match and will be held at Memphis Sport Shooting Association in Lakeland, TN. The match website is https://www.facebook.com/2016MCC/.
  9. I have a P3AT, am a member at MSSA, and will be at the AP range sometime next weekend. I don't know what generation it is, but it has been reliable.
  10. I'm interested! A couple questions--any recommendations for how to train if you live in the city? Running the streets of Bartlett with an AR probably won't end well. Also, any idea of round count yet? Roughly what is the average distance between COFs? I'm glad something like this is this close to home and is not over 300 yards. My 1-3 scope does not inspire confidence at 500 yards lol.
  11. Lately, my favorite gun is my Springfield EMP4. It's like Springfield called me and asked what I wanted them to make next. I did have to swap out the rear sight though--dots on the rear sight are just hideous.
  12. I have a Bushmaster Carbon-15 9mm that has never missed a beat. I gave about $800 for it with 8 mags. Not sure what it is good for, but I still like it. May be worthwhile if they are still made.

    Benelli 828

I shot a friend's 828 and really liked it. I do worry about its aluminum frame and durability, so I bought a Beretta. Can't go wrong with Beretta or Browning, especially when they are cheaper than the 828.
  14. Natchez Trace State Park used to have a 100 yard range.  Exit 114 or 116 on I-40 toward Nashville (a little more than an hour).
  15. According to the man's mother, he is allegedly a mental patient.  Also, the pic at the bottom of the article makes me wonder if he had a disassembled AR rifle or an AR pistol.  Not that the media would know the difference.    http://wreg.com/2016/03/28/man-armed-with-rifle-and-gun-arrested-at-bellevue-baptist-church-easter-service/
  16.   Jacketed or cast bullets?  WST does almost anything N320 does, except remain consistent when the weather changes.  N320 was the Rolls-Royce of powders for .40/180 major shooters--fast burning, "push" recoil impulse, lower burn temperature (better for lead/coated bullets), meters well, low flash, not as messy, not temperature sensitive.  It's never easy to find and it's more expensive when you do, but it's worth it if you shoot USPSA Limited.
  17. Loading .410 can be very cost effective.  You should be able to load some standard-velocity type 1/2 ounce shells for $5/box or so.  If you find someone selling reclaimed shot or cast your own shot, it will be even cheaper.  Also, shotgun presses can be found for less.  I picked up a used MEC 600 Jr for $65.
  18.   I remember her.  She checked my ID when I bougth BBs the other day.
  19. Daughter got a pink Red Ryder and wife got a G43 cerakoted in tiffany blue and silver.  I got shirts.
  20. I'm a southpaw and would venture to say that some right handed guns work better for me than they do for right handed shooters.  A slide stop that is not positioned too far to the rear is often easier for a lefty to drop with his trigger finger than it is for a right hander to drop with his thumb.  Same with right handed mag releases.  I turn my nose up at many ambi or left handed guns, but I could see where someone with smaller or weaker hands would benefit.
  21. Did a quick search and didn't find anything.  Taking the little one to see the Grinch and figured it was a dumb question, but would ask anyway.
  22.   I believe one of the newer Marlin 1895s comes with this sight.  I'll probably end up with one on my 336 sooner or later.
  23. I put one in a 43 and it made a big difference.  The 43 is advertised as 5.5 lbs, but several samples I've dry-fired all seemed much heavier.  The Edge made it feel more like a normal stock 5.5 trigger.
  24. Yes, he should have gone for two.  The bigger concern is the one-dimensional offense.  Run plays and QB draws on 3rd and long means either the staff is afraid to throw the ball, or they know something we don't.  Dobbs is not some true freshman QB--why not throw the ball more than the occasional screen?
