I don’t pick up wheel weights, but I do sometimes pick up brass and am loading .40 for about 14 cents a round. Yes, there is the cost of my Dillon 550, but it’s loaded so many rounds that the cost per round is irrelevant. Money is only one of several reasons I handload, but It would definitely cost me more to shoot non-combloc/milsurp steel case factory ammo. I'm with you on the hate crime stuff--murdering this guy should carry the same penalty as murdering that guy. As for the classification thing, if calling them a terrorist organization is a required step in the red tape process before the gloves come off, then I'm all for it. They should have already been off. Or it may be a bunch of hype and nothing new happens.

lock n' load, I would strongly suggest trying ken_mays' advice above before doing anything else. He probably has more 1911 knowledge and experience than anyone else on this forum.

And I kept harping about 300 yards because you mentioned 300 but also it’s the max distance a competent hunter should shoot at game under hunting conditions without seriously researching, dialing in, and practicing with their rifle, IMO.

The 6.5CM is a fantastic round, but if you are inside 300 yards, its only advantage over the .260 is a bigger selection of factory ammo. In fact, it doesn't matter too much which deer round you choose for hunting in TN if you zero your rifle at 200 yards and plan to shoot no more than 300. .270, .280, .260, 6.5, .308, 7 Mag, whatever. Pick the one that sounds the coolest or the one your grandfather swore by or whatever. I do disagree with Rob's statement that anything that starts with "2" is ok in TN. A .223 is getting mighty iffy. Just because it has been done does not mean it should be tried again. As for which rifle, plenty has been said already. However, if I were buying new, the first rifle I would look at would be the Bergara B-14 series. Which scope? A Leupold VX-3i 3-9x40, which is or will soon be on sale at Bass Pro for $299. No need to get a 14x or 20x scope unless you are shooting waaay past 300 yards.

Agreed, but Burris, C-More, Docter, and Vortex are popular, too. Delta Point Pro is supposedly different from Delta Point and different Vortex sights use different mounts. TGO David, not knocking your gun--it's a nice rig. I'm tinkering with a gen5 17 with a Delta Point Pro myself, but it's strictly a competition gun. I may carry a red dot someday, but don't feel the need right now. From my experience, irons are faster under 10 or 12 yards. Red dots fogging up make me nervous, too. A red dot carry gun certainly has merit in an active shooter scenario, though. Hell, there are those who claim sights are unnecessary/useless in a gunfight.

I have one and gave $500 for it. Probably a little high, but SS 4" Security Sixes have a certain nostalgic value to me. About 1982 or so, I was with my dad at a gun show and there was one new for $209. I thought my dad had lost his mind for not immediately buying it, but this was before I had completely learned the value of a hard-earned dollar. I never forgot that Security Six. Fast forward to two years ago. I'm in a gun shop in Paris (TN) and there the same gun sits (maybe not the exact same one). I couldn't leave without it. By the way, it's a shooter.

Unless you mill out the dovetail. Not everybody cares about co-witnessing sights. Also, if everybody changes their footprint to match RMR (which ain't gonna happen), this is still bad news for those who milled their slides for whatever the previous footprint was unless their dot lasts forever.

On the other hand, a milled slide becomes a paperweight if the dot fails and that dot is no longer made or the manufacturer changes the footprint.

As a pretty serious competitive shooter, I submit that most shooters can put $200 worth of work/parts into their stock Glock or M&P and use the $1200-1800 they saved by not buying one of these EB guns on practice ammo and be much better off. A $2500 M&P? I'll take a 2011 if I'm throwing around that kind of money for one gun.

I got the same email. At least they are communicating. If they do run, I'll be putting that 20% coupon to use. Now if they would just make a similar metal G22/35 magazine that's compatible with Arredondo or Dawson +5/6 basepads, my USPSA Limited gun would be that much badder...

Craftsman definitely started to decline before being made in China. I have a made-in-USA 1/2" drive socket set with the teardrop shaped ratchet and it's a real knuckle-buster. It finally crapped out maybe two years and they gave me another American made replacement that is slightly better. Couldn't believe they still had any. There aren't many options like old school Craftsman tools any more. Either super expensive high end stuff or cheap Chinese stuff. I've recently bought Channellock brand American made screwdrivers and Taiwan made socket sets that remind me of old Craftsman stuff. China does actually make some decent tools here and there, but I try not to buy anything Chinese if possible.

Check with the Franklin Gun Shop. I was in there earlier this year and they had several older VX-II and VX-III scopes. I'm almost positive some were silver.
