  1. I still don't see the logic in Kroger's move, but logic is so 80s nowadays. What does OC have to do with a madman shooting someone inside their store and out in their parking lot? I don't have a problem with Kroger barring OCers, but their timing smells. I would not boycott Kroger just because they banned OC, but I would consider boycotting them if they banned OC as a knee-jerk reaction to a non-OC related shooting at a Wal-Mart. But good luck to anyone hoping to boycott Kroger in the Memphis area--there aren't many alternatives. Regarding the lawsuit, they are suing them in part because Kroger "had no policy in place to prevent the shooting." SERIOUSLY??
  2. I haven’t heard about the Kroger lawsuit. What's that all about?
  3. But why does Kroger have to pick a side?
  4. I'll go ahead and speak blasphemy. I was born and raised in Memphis and I'm not really into BBQ pork. HOWEVER, I have a couple favorite BBQ places--Baby Jack's in Bartlett and Interstate BBQ on S Third. The chicken w/ white sauce at Baby Jack's is the bomb and the smoked turkey at Interstate is worth the rude servers. There is also a hole-in-the-wall place in Abilene, TX I went and had beef brisket for the first time. I horrified a couple Texans when I said, "Man, that's good stuff. It ain't BBQ, but I like it."
  5. Looks like the Model 7 will fit a 4.25." IIRC, the compact is just a shorter grip, so the barrel length is the only thing that would matter for a holster. An extra 1/4" of holster wouldn't be too big a deal. Why the 3-slot? The Model 5 is an open end holster and would fit a Compact or a 5" gun, but has only 2 slots.
  6. Check out the Bianchi Model 7 Shadow. I have the two-slot version of this (Model 5 Black Widow) and like it.
  7. No, I do not. It's brief span was over several decades before I was born. However, I don't see how widespread alcohol availability and consumption has improved life in America, except maybe helping ugly people find fornication partners.
  8. Has the war on drugs worked? I don't know, we have nothing to compare it to. As far as banning drugs vs banning guns, I have no problem banning heroine/meth/cocaine etc. They have no legitimate purpose, as opposed to guns. Weed is arguably useful medically, but lots of people suddenly develop medical problems when it becomes medically legal in their locale. While cutting the grass earlier, I heard a commercial (for the first time) about how driving high is a DUI. These PSAs have probably been playing in CO for a couple years. Yes, people will get drugs whether legal or not, but making it a pain in the ass and/or legally treacherous doubtlessly cuts down on some of the stupidity. I was in CO last month. Beautiful state, until we pulled into just about any city. I saw more meth heads and junkies in CO Springs than I've ever seen in Shelby County. Wonder what it was like before the MJ revolution.
  9. I have never understood how making drugs legal and therefore cheaper and more available is supposed to improve things.
  10. Saw a cool one today at the LGS. Ruger Vaquero .357 was $689. Same gun with an extra 9mm cylinder was $819. Hmmmmmmmm
  11. I have one that I won in a match years ago. I put a few rounds through it and it was reliable with FMJ. Never tried it with HPs.
  12. All I've done to mine is change the sights. I love Glock plastic sights...because they are so easy to remove lol. I'll polish the internals sooner or later, but I doubt I'll mess with springs on a carry gun. I was irritated that Comp-Tac wouldn't make a CTAC for the 48 and I told them more than once. One day, I realized that they make a 43 CTAC. I bought one and put the Dremel to work. Now I have the best carry gun I've ever bought with the best IWB holster made
  13. My 48 is the best carry gun I have ever owned. If these mags run, it will be that much better.
  14. No thanks. I already made a small profit on the $219 MAK 90 I sold
  15. Have an $89 one in the safe
  16. I'm in the same boat. I have no use for a single action revolver, until I watch another Western, then I have to have one again. The 4 &5/8 Rugers and 4.75 other brands with the barrel and ejector rod shroud flush just do something to me. I'm leaning toward a Ruger because of the transfer bar and ability to safely carry six, but there's something about the three or four clicks of the non-transfer bars guns that's just music to the ears. For true nostalgia, a .45 Colt is the way to go, but I want a shooter and I can load .38s cheap.
  17. There are probably a few former Pinto owners who are not mourning him.
  18. Well, if he is calling Bartlett a utopia because he feels perfectly safe, then I guess you are doing the same thing. There was a beating in Davieshire back in the spring and I forgot about the bank robbery on Stage Road, although banks are arguably targeted because of ease of access, escape route, etc instead of whether it’s in a high crime neighborhood. There are burglaries (as opposed to robberies) every week in Bartlett. They usually involve items being stolen from an unlocked car or storage shed. The last person being shot in Bartlett that I know of was the July 4 incident I mentioned earlier. I don’t think Bartlett or Raleigh or Memphis or any of the suburbs are perfectly safe, but I think my odds are better in Bartlett than in Memphis.
  19. I don't know anyone who would argue that the neighborhood behind the high school is a utopia, but I haven't heard of any recent shootings or robberies in Bartlett and I bet the news folks would blast it on loudspeakers if they knew about it. Where is "in the area?" Did the shootings/robberies take place inside Bartlett? Or are we talking about a few minutes west on Yale Rd?
  20. If Mr. Cobb would be so kind as to share where I can get Russian AKs for $150, I'll apply for another credit card.
  21. I think there was a shooting at the Taco Bell across the street from the PD last July 4th. A couple Memphians visited Bartlett to watch the fireworks and apparently had a disagreement. Anything can happen anywhere anytime. No one on this forum believes this more than I do. However, to imply that Bartlett is even in the same galaxy as Memphis crime-wise is just silly.
  22. I agree to a certain extent with Cap, although I don't paint all country folks as junkies. I've spent time in "the country" and have found that bad things happen there, too. On the other hand, if you choose to live in the country and commute to your job in Memphis, you'll spend more time on a highway or interstate than the typical city dweller and be more at risk, if you believe all the hype.
  23. That’s a bit of a stretch.
