Nope. Loughner was a drug addicted schizo who friends and family said had no interest in politics. And he was a mass shooter, not an assassin with a target.

None of this is a surprise. The left has been riling up their side for two years. “Get in their face”, running Rs out of restaurants, showing up at their houses, “we will do whatever it takes.” At least leftists are mostly unfamiliar with guns and shooting.

One minute he’s a gun grabber and the next minute he’s pushing a radical right wing agenda. You people need to make up your damn minds.

Well, not too long ago, many a Democrat/liberal talked about curbing illegal immigration and having an actual border, making welfare a second chance as opposed to a way of life, and ending the era of big government. Liberals used to have some (or at least pretended to have some) beliefs in common with conservatives. Now they talk like socialists. I'm glad they toned down the abortion rhetoric. I don't like it, but I don't see why either side blows so much political capital on it.

I think you are on to something. They didn't go berserk with abortion stuff either. Maybe trying to win over a few middle-of-the-road voters. What a concept.

I'm glad we have open carry for this reason, but most of the OCers I see are Fudd-types or wannabes who could probably be disarmed by my daughter. A crap holster and no situational awareness make a lousy combination.

I suspect that if the shooter were some neo-nazi who shot up a minority school, all this hand-wringing and stonewalling about a manifest wouldn't exist. And a week later it would be Trump's fault.

Not sure if it was just the theater where we were, but Horizon had two quick previews that lasted 6-8 minutes total.

One other thing - it is rated R, but it didn't seem as R-rated as most modern R movies. Some brief barely nudity and not as much language. I don't recall any F-bombs.

Saw it last night - 7/10 here too. The theater was pretty full of mostly older folks (younger people don't like westerns?). The guy next to me was griping about his popcorn, griping about the temperature (the theater was definitely not cool), and at the end said, "Well that was a waste of three hours." People need to keep in mind that it's chapter 1 of 4 - there are three stories developing, rather slowly I might add. A half hour could have easily been trimmed. The acting was superb (especially the two brothers and the crazy blond) and the scenery was spectacular. If you are the type that likes non-stop action, you will hate this movie, but I plan to see chapter 2.

Everybody talks about the 22R, but the 2.7 is probably the most durable gas engine Toyota has ever made. It won’t win a drag race or get 33 mpg, but it will last until Doomsday. I would take it over a new turbo job any time.

Trading in a gun = you will get hosed If you don’t want to deal with selling, maybe try consignment at a local shop. I have had good luck with consignment over the years. Some stores have dumb consignment policies - their X% on top of what you want out of it is pretty high and sometimes makes the gun too expensive or your share of the sell too low. Other shops are pretty reasonable with their share of the sale.

Reeves trained with Taran Butler for the Wick movies and Butler said Reeves had legit USPSA Master class shooter skills (which are quite perishable), but the shooting scenes are still silly. I do appreciate that Reeves has gun skills and doesn’t go around constantly racking the slide and shooting with a teacup grip nailing headshots on the move at 40 yards. That stuff instantly reduces my interest in a movie. But I haven’t seen JW 2, 3, or 4.

I’m not big on movie theaters any more, but I won four tickets to any Malco and have been saving them for the Costner movie. However, we may Uber there so we can enjoy the movie without worrying if our car will still be there when I leave the theater.
