My point about beds was that Memphis crime of all sorts over the past few months has been completely off the charts. If ER and ICU beds are full of covid patients, where are all these daily gunshot victims going? ETA: Four people shot in Memphis in the last four hours.

I don’t buy the lack-of-ICU-beds-due-to-covid argument, at least around here. We a had a famous DJ recently suffer a heart attack and had to go to AR because the ER was full here. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it. I don’t doubt they are full of gunshot victims, but not covid patients. Not sure where you are, but it hasn’t been warming up around here until yesterday.

I don't recall anybody here telling them to "rest in piss" or that they were glad they lived long enough to get cancer. There's really no comparison between the two sides.

Oh I don’t doubt a competent rifleman could zero and practice with a good Carcano (if there is one) and make the shots. But could Oswald do so with his Carcano? I have doubts. Oswald was supposedly a qualified Expert in his time in the USMC, but some who served with him roll their eyes at this idea. Oswald missed a 30-odd yard shot during the assassination attempt of an Army general a few months before Kennedy. Also, Oswald’s Carcano raises a few questions. It was found to have a loose scope mount that was mysteriously repaired prior to testing. The rifle supposedly hit high at 15 or 20 yards, which makes no sense for a scoped rifle. If anything, it should hit low that close. After this shoddy testing process, the rifle was determined to be capable of making the shots in question. Then there’s the “magic bullet” question. Call me a conspiracy theorist or tinfoil hat model or whatever, but if you believe Oswald was the lone shooter, I’ll sell you a Carcano guaranteed to make you the 2021 NRA High Power champion. *You being anyone, not you, Chuck.

Damn, we need more AGs like that Paxton fellow. Although I believe gun control is currently number 6 or 7 on the Biden administration wish list, I have no doubt it will come up. Maybe with Biden in office, maybe not. He didn't even mention taxing ammunition or executive orders. However, the VP is a thorough bred gun grabber and I believe will be the president in the not-so-distant future. If Kamala is in the White House, I expect priorities to be adjusted. All this is out the window if there is a major mass shooting.

I don't consider myself a TGO prognosticator, but I believed that a Biden administration would put other things first--their obsession with destroying America's chances at energy self-reliance, reparations, LGBTQ, punish the police, woke agenda disguised as covid relief, etc. UNLESS a mass shooting occurs. The statement above calls on Congress to enact the usual common sense drivel, so hopefully it's just lip service to the gun grabber crowd.

Yep, I know of two CDL holders who lost their jobs due to failed drug tests. They both swore CBD was the only thing they ever touched and I believe them.

I have been going in and out of buildings without two masks (gasp!) for a year now and have somehow survived.

There sometimes seems to be an abundance of complacency on this site.
