That's a good one to have if you don't handload. Through all this stupidity, 6 CM ammo is everywhere.

Same here and I disagreed with several people I know who made this same argument. Covid will go away when certain people can no longer use it to push their agendas.

And I've read multiple stories about people who got the vaccine, got COVID, and subsequently died. I wonder, if in their last conscious thoughts, they are still glad they listened to that worm.

Optics ready pistolas... Somethin to play with or the " Real Deal "..?
deerslayer replied to leroy's topic in Handguns
I’ve done it a couple times and know it works well if you shoot both eyes open instinctively. And yes, in an arms length gun fight, the sights/dot will probably be irrelevant. -

Maybe. The leaving a cold building scenario may be unlikely, but getting out of an air conditioned car in a parking lot and suddenly needing your gun is probably more realistic. -

I’m sure you can, as long as you always use both eyes (which I do). However, the hesitation and delay caused by the wait-what’s-wrong-with-my-gun-what-the-hell’s-up-with-my-dot-oh-it’s-fogged-up-but-i-can-still-use-it routine can be disastrous. -

I don’t have a cat, but I wonder if Pomeranian turds will help. And before anyone wets their pants, it’s a gamer gun and doesn’t need co-witnessed sights. -
Optics ready pistolas... Somethin to play with or the " Real Deal "..?

I am switching to Carry Optics division in USPSA and went out to the garage tonight to do some dry fire and got this. I posted earlier in this or another thread about dots fogging up when going from cool indoors to hot humid outdoors. Someone pointed out that iron sights can get bent, broken, etc and that’s true, but that would be due to neglect, mechanical failure, etc. A fogged up dot is due to environmental conditions and will probably happen repeatedly under the same circumstances. I believe Rain-x used to make some anti-fog that supposedly worked and I may experiment with it, but I am definitely not ready to start carrying one of these. -
I have 5.56 AR mags loaded with Winchester 64 grain Power Point. This round is marketed toward deer hunters and has a decent track record against medium size game. It is reliable and accurate and has virtually the same trajectory out to 200 or so as a 55fmj. My intent with this round is not for defending the living room, but rather for being prepared for outdoor festivities if Antifa is coming down the street, etc. I figure a deer round will be just as good or better than pretty much anything else for repelling bad guys. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2900402682

There are a lot of politicians and bureaucrats having an awful time letting go of all that power covid provided for them.

New Law Restricts Purchasing a Firearm if you have a DUI
deerslayer replied to Fasazu's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I suppose if one wanted to get technical, one could argue that, since alcohol is actually just another drug, a DUI conviction disqualifies the convict on 21e of a 4473 form (are you an unlawful user or addicted to a depressant?). Alcohol is a depressant and driving around liquored up is unlawful. I don't necessarily support that angle, but somebody may have made that argument. -
I was afraid more gun buster signs would pop up and, sure enough, I am seeing more of them. This poorly written law is borderline idiotic, but the responses to it are even worse. A left-leaning acquaintance and his buddy know I am a shooter and asked what I thought of the law. They were horrified when I said I thought it was basically irrelevant. "But criminals will be carrying guns" they both replied. When I pointed out that Memphis had 330+ murders last year (most involving guns) and is on track to surpass that number this year and asked if criminals are not already carrying guns, they just sighed and shook their heads. Whoever can't legally carry a gun now still won't be able to under the new law. One acted like this was some sort of revelation. I added that most of the new crime that will result from the new law will be from non-permit holders' confusion about it. Below is an example of the misunderstanding and outright misinformation about the law. A church is beefing up security to get ready for the apparent armed invasion they will face when the law begins: https://www.fox13memphis.com/news/local/local-pastor-encourages-other-churches-add-security-before-permitless-carry-bill-goes-into-effect/BQZGDKPT6FHBJFNIE5TX2KKOD4/ And an erroneous assumption that people who have carry permits are all trained on how to use a gun: https://www.wreg.com/news/gun-violence-surge-possible-with-new-permitless-carry-law-launch-warns-democratic-lawmaker/

USPSA Match at Davy Crocket Boy Scout Camp - Whitesburg
deerslayer replied to Jeb48's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
The USPSA TN Section championship was going to be held there, but everyone decided the place wouldn’t be ready in time. I expect it will happen next year, though. -
Weighing cartridges is not reliable if using mixed headstamp brass.

I used to work with a germaphobe. We would find sticky notes on door handles and bathroom faucets and knew he had been there. Once I saw him eat fries. He would bite the fry, then put whatever part he was still holding on the other side of his plate and not touch them any more. I wonder how he did during Covid.

This. If you have the same driver every day, have a friendly conversation with him and give him the code. As far as adding comments to an order, the shipper might put something in the remarks or PO section of the label and the driver might even notice it. Too many mights.

It recently got a lot worse.

The USPS has refused to deliver bullets to me on several occasions. I have no idea why anyone would ship anything that mattered via USPS.

Lots of folks are using small rifle primers in small pistol cartridges, mainly due to the shortage of small pistol primers. Some Open division USPSA shooters use small rifle primers in their major power factor 9mm and .38 Super loads anyway. Small rifle primers will work, but are harder and may cause light strikes and ignition issues with handguns that aren't hammer-fired (and some that are). Also, I don't remember the specifics, but some rifle primers are slightly taller and may not be seated as deeply as pistol primers. I would not mess with the flash hole.

Sincere question here—are we to simply ignore recent research that suggests a possibility of lifelong immunity? Sure, it mutates, but apparently not as easily or as rapidly as flu viruses.

I switched from gas to charcoal years ago specifically to cook brisket after sampling some in West TX. I've never gotten around to trying it, but my favorite marinated grilled chicken, porterhouse steaks, and even hot dogs are even better after the switch. I don't adhere to the "might as well cook on the stove if you're gonna use gas" philosophy, but there is something about smoke.
