Was this immediately clear to the responding officers or the prosecutor? Since the video was not discovered until later, it’s doubtful. It may have been, but the prosecutor was apparently more worried about rescuing her former employee, which has nothing to do with race.
-
Yep, one of defendants used to work with her and she recused herself a little late. Got herself voted out of office as a result. Not cool, but not sure how race was a factor.

Sounds similar to the Chad Read shooting in Lubbock, TX. Murky video evidence and an initially unclear scenario.
-
And a jury with 11 white people convicted them for murder. They may not have even been charged 40 or 50 years ago. Things are by no means fixed, but are a lot better than they were in the past.

We’ll this never happened before!

I had the same problem with my 70 years ago. I used some reloading book OAL handloads for my dad’s M77 and couldn’t extract a round I chambered after shooting a deer. I did a quick tactical unload and scratched my head. Turns out the 70 chamber was slightly shorter than the 77, so the 70 loads got seated a little deeper after that. Nowadays I figure all that out before even getting the powder out. Also, some measure from the ogive because bullet lengths can vary, but ogives are pretty consistent. -
I don’t have a problem with it, although I cringe at the thought of whatever woke crap it will supposedly be used to make. I doubt many would argue that statues of Rommel or Yamamoto would be appropriate and I don’t see a Forrest statue as being much different. If I were a black person, I wouldn’t get a warm and fuzzy feeling looking at a monument erected to celebrate the guy who started the Klan.

Well, link it to 2A and gun control lol https://www.hillaryclinton.com/issues/gun-violence-prevention/

Pretty thorough analysis, but I disagree with his opinion that Read was trying to grab the gun prior to the shot into the ground. My impression was a guy who is tired of having the side of a gun barrel pushing against his arm. It looked to me like he tried to push or flip it away instead of grabbing for it. A minor detail, but one that could possibly sway a juror's thinking when considering what led up to the shooting.

350 Legend. It's just a cool round, plus ammo has been available all along.

Thank ya! You’ll have to get in line

Well crap, the video has been removed. Read does seem to be throwing his weight around, but at one point, there is some back and forth and Carruth is backing Read up (after he went in and got his gun). The Lubbock prosecutor recused herself because one of the local judges is Carruth's ex and the case has been turned over to the TX AG. That could maybe explain the delay in charges or announcing that Carruth was justified. Now I'm really curious how this one turns out.

I didn't see Read do any of this. The castle doctrine in Texas presumes that using force is reasonable and justified when another person: unlawfully and with force enters or attempts to enter your habitation, vehicle, or work-place; or attempts to remove you, by force, from your habitation, vehicle, or work-place; was committing or attempting to commit aggravated kidnapping, murder, sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault, robbery, or aggravated robbery. In the context of self-defense, “habitation” means any structure or vehicle that is adapted for overnight living by a person. However, it only includes structures that are connected to the main habitation.

Exactly--go get the girlfriend, get everybody inside, and call the police. If the guy starts busting in, things change. Otherwise, I don't see how the guy walks if TX laws are similar to TN. I know several people who have had tense situations when someone is picking up the kids from the ex and a boyfriend/girlfriend/new spouse is involved. Gunfire has never been the result, though. ETA: For the record, I am not a divorced dad lol
-
Yeah mine doesn’t look quite like that.
-
AFTER the shooter fired at the other guy’s feet. Not sure why he grabbed the shooter and slung him away—distance gives the shooter a big advantage. Either get out of Dodge or fight like hell for control of the gun. I’m not sure what TX law is, but you can’t shoot someone for trespassing in TN. I don’t see how the shooter argues that he was in fear for his life, etc.

Or maybe more accurately, happy adoption day. Bought my 2006 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4WD 15 years ago today. It may throw a rod tomorrow, but four sets of tires and 32 oil changes later, it’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.

Not very shocked by the verdict.

You didn't like the verdict. We get it.

Nick Sandmann would disagree.

Glad you healed up and thank you for adopting your kids. America needs kids being raised up right and you changed the path they probably would have taken. When selling something to strangers, I usually meet at a local police precinct parking lot (even guns). It's not foolproof, but cuts down on shenanigans. Most people I'm dealing with say "that's a great idea." One fellow said he wouldn't meet there and that told me all I needed to know.
