  1. Any time I need to feel like I was in a helicopter crash, I just go to McDonalds.
  2. I’m not a turbo fan, but I think it’s premature to label the new Taco turbo 4 as junk. I want no part of one though; somebody else can be the guinea pig. Your 2.7 is the AK-47 of gas engines.
  3. People are spinning crank bearings and Toyota says the problem is debris left in the engine during manufacturing. I would think problems would also show up elsewhere in the engine. Oddly, Toyota supposedly changed the part number of the crank bearings. Toyota definitely screwed the pooch, but they will apparently make it right.
  4. I don't have experience with TRD Off Road. My brother has a 2019 TRD Off Road Tacoma and it has been perfect. It gets really good gas mileage for a truck, but he drives like a Spanish American War veteran. I've had a Tacoma and two 4Runners. For the money IMO, the updated 4.0 V6 1GR-FE that has been in the 4Runner for the last 12 or so years is probably the best gas V6 Toyota has ever made. I would avoid first and maybe even second year models, Toyota or not. I despise turbo, but will admit that the new turbo Tundra troubles don't seem to be turbo-related. The Tacoma going to turbo is a heartbreaker. Haven't heard about 2024 Taco transmission troubles, but I'm not surprised. Turbo + 8 speed seems stupid to get only 2 more MPG. Avoid 2016 and 2017 if looking at third gen Tacomas. Change your oil every 5000 miles - ignore the 10K interval. This guy has a gold mine of Toyota info: https://www.youtube.com/@TheCarCareNut/videos
  5. What do you get when you turn a blond upside down? A brunette with bad breath.
  6. Kicking myself for not buying a bunch of these back in the day when they were $329. About 30 years ago, I had a .44 Trapper in my hands and decided against it. 1Kish is reasonable nowadays for a real Winchester. It is probably a good thing that Morrison is a long way off. GLWS
  7. I haven't milled a gun yet, but one less failure point is good. I always use thread locker on clean components and can read torque specs as well as anybody, but I have had several issues on different guns with dots or plates not staying put. A visible iron sight picture in the very bottom of the dot window is ok, but putting it higher where it is nearly on the same plane as the dot sight picture is idiotic. I don't get why people do this - it's a huge distraction. I also remove the fiber optic pipe on the front sight (if it's FO). it's just another distraction. Definitely. I see a lot of new or casual shooters getting advice that a dot will solve all their problems. Dots are handy, but require some regular dry fire or live fire to maintain a needed index that isn't as critical with iron sights. This gets exacerbated when the user carries a J-frame on Tuesday, a Glock on Thursday, and a 1911 on Saturday. It really gets ugly when the casual shooter tries to shoot quickly with one hand. Dots are not always as beneficial as advertised. Somebody who doesn't want to practice occasionally may be better off with irons if some fast combat accuracy is suddenly necessary.
  8. Way back in the day I had an XS400 and it was a fun little bike. GLWS
  9. A couple miles north of there ain’t much better. I used to spend a lot of time at work around Sycamore View/Raleigh Lagrange and had a couple guns pulled on me in a two or three year span.
  10. Sycamore View/Macon/40/Shelby Oaks area is crackhead alley. There are several hotels in the area that are action packed. I’m surprised Bass Pro Shops is still there.
  11. I had heard or read days ago that a local SWAT guy missed Crooks before the SS sniper dispatched him. That said, I still hear what I believe are four different guns. The first three shots sound distinctly different from 4-8, especially on videos taken by those who were close to Crooks. Shot nine sounds like maybe a suppressed rifle and could be the SWAT miss. Then several seconds later, the last shot (from SS). I don’t get off on conspiracy theories, but something doesn’t add up. I would like an exact count on how much brass was found with Crooks. That should be very easy to answer.
  12. I have seen pistol bullets (or their “trace”) fired from handguns numerous times and they appear to be several feet long. It’s usually a .45 shooting into sunlight early and standing near, but not directly behind the shooter. A 9 or.45 has three or four times the bullet going 1/3 the speed, so it shows up a lot better than a 5.56 would. No idea how long the image is actually there for the brain to process.
  13. Holy hell, they saw the guy on the roof 20 minutes earlier? Had the SS been drinking all day? The Iranians are probably drooling.
  14. A .223 may or may not have killed him, but it probably would have disabled him to the point of being out of the race. If I want to whack a guy from 125 yards no if, ands, or buts, and I don't care who hears the shot, I'm bringing a high power bolt action rifle (.30-06/.308/.243/6.5CM/7 Mag/whatever) with a 4X or a 3-9x scope. Basically a deer rifle.
  15. A center mass shot would have changed history.
  16. Well, in my original post, I mentioned a competent rifleman, not a zit face duffer. But for the sake of argument, let's say Trump's head presented an 8" target. When he turned his head, he reduced the target area to maybe 6", so Crooks was already 2" from completely missing his 8" target. At 125 yards, a 6" circle is about 5.25 MOA. Miscalculating the distance would have minimal effect on elevation (unless he had some crazy 500 yard zero) and none on windage. Missing a 5.25 MOA target that close three times from a rest probably ain't gonna win the next F-class match. Just sayin'
  17. Head swiveling a little or not, that should have been a chip shot with a decent rest.
  18. I have been saying that for years. Somebody’s gonna smoke a politician or VIP at 300 yards with a bolt gun and the left will go berserk about banning “sniper weapons.”
  19. 1. “Just leave your job” is a lot easier said than done, and what’s the point in trying to move? A lot of American companies are currently infested with DEI. 2. Not if I like my paycheck If you read one of my posts several pages back, I said I don’t automatically assume a female (or a minority) is a diversity hire. And thank God it was some moron who bought MSM’s rants about the deadliness of the AR-15 instead of a competent marksman with a bolt action deer rifle.
  20. They are hired because they are the best at what they do, race be damned (and that’s how it should be).
  21. If she changes her story one more time, that spot has to soon be available. Or third, they see it in person at work.
  22. No, I am saying the opposite. The best talent is on the floor because a certain desired racial makeup is not a requirement.
  23. I work at a Fortune 500 company where it’s routine. Curiously, DEI isn’t a priority in the NBA.
  24. To avoid being racist, we make assumptions and draw conclusions based on someone’s race. Completely agree with all three, but DEI uses primarily race and gender to determine these life experiences. Individual experiences are secondary, or not even a factor.
