I doubt Mulroy pursues the death penalty.

She was five miles or so from her house. If she had already clocked five miles, she was probably in no shape to put up much of a fight. Since I run some (although not at Fletcher's level), I've thought about this quite a bit and never run without a weapon. Or two. If I get jumped at mile 4 of 5, I will be less willing/able to knuckle with an attacker. I don't look like Psycho Sid, but I probably present a more challenging target than Fletcher did and I still go armed. My wife's friend said she would never carry a weapon while running and acted like the idea was ridiculous. I just don't get the head-in-the-sand mentality.

Imaaaaaaaaagine that. The a-hole could at least tell the police where the body is.

Local media and social media are fueling rumors, speculation, conspiracy theories, etc. One local news report even said the husband was spotted in front of his house yesterday!! So were half the husbands in America. So she was loaded or was going to be, so what. I wouldn't be surprised if, when the facts are out, two thugs with records were riding around at zero dark thirty up to no good when they saw a woman in a sports bra alone and took advantage of an opportunity.

Check with Design Jewelers on Kirby Whitten. I can’t remember the owner’s name. He used to also teach carry permit classes and he worked on a 1911 for me years ago. Stand up guy. I would also trust Weimar’s on 64.

My wife and I had this same conversation/reminder this morning and that was before we heard about this abduction. Two days ago, another woman and her kid were kidnapped at Target on Hwy 64 and forced to withdraw money from a nearby bank. They are lucky to be alive. There is no such thing as a safe area.

Kinda hits home because I run in the early AM too, often in the dark. There are much worse neighborhoods than Central@Zach Curlin, but anything can happen anywhere any time. I bet she had headphones, was often oblivious to her surroundings, and thought "I've never had any trouble." I hope she is alive. https://www.actionnews5.com/2022/09/02/woman-missing-reportedly-kidnapped/

How to ship a firearm for service?
deerslayer replied to billyblazes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Right, but first you have to be an FFL, have a Scheduled Pickup account, and enter into an approved firearms agreement, whatever that involves. Firearms just became the new HazMat. UPS accepts packages containing firearms (as defined by Title 18, Chapter 44, and Title 26, Chapter 53 of the United States Code) and firearm parts that do not constitute firearms as defined by federal law (together, “Firearm Products”) for shipment only as a contractual service and only from Shippers who are licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, or licensed collectors (as defined in Title 18, Chapter 44 of the United States Code) to authorized recipients, as outlined in the approved UPS agreement for the transportation of Firearm Products. Firearm Products may be shipped only through a UPS Scheduled Pickup Account using various UPS pickup services. To receive service for packages containing Firearm Products, the Shipper must enter into an approved UPS agreement for the transportation of Firearm Products. 2021 rules: UPS accepts Packages containing firearms (as defined by Title 18, Chapter 44, and Title 26, Chapter 53 of the United States Code) only (a) between licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, and licensed collectors (as defined in Title 18, Chapter 44 of the United States Code), and government agencies; and (b) where not otherwise prohibited by federal, state, or local law from (i) an individual to a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer or licensed collector; and (ii) from a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector to an individual. Firearms (including handguns) are accepted for transportation only via Scheduled Pickup Service or at a UPS Customer Center. -

It would appear that this is more fallout from Biden’s “ghost gun” witch hunt. Elections still have consequences… https://www.personaldefenseworld.com/2022/07/ups-shipping-a-firearm/ -

All fine and dandy until you need to file a claim. -

My panties are not in a wad, but I can read and this is a big change. What you were able to do in the past is irrelevant. The scenario you describe above about taking your package to a local UPS distribution center is no longer an option. Shipping a gun to Cajun Gun Works or Primary Machine to get the slide milled and the frame cerakoted is no longer an option, unless they agree to provide you with a Fedex label, and that is usually only for warranty issues. So again, if nothing has really changed, where does someone with a pre-printed UPS label take their gun? How do I send something to CGW for some custom work? -

What if you are not shipping to a maker? And where does someone with a pre-printed UPS label take their gun? -

Maybe, but “more business than we can handle” is temporary. Fdx and UPS require handguns to use their 1 day services, which are the most profitable. If they were solely worried about profits, they would baby those lucrative customers. And if UPS now no longer allows Smith & Wesson or CZ to send labels to their customers for return purposes, they will probably lose some business to Fdx. -

I suspect corporate ESG scores are a factor here. Wokeness strikes again. -

…but UPS apparently no longer allows you to even do that So F the guy who wants to legitimately send his gun to an FFL holder to get it ceracoated, milled for a dot, get a trigger job, etc. Not to mention what this does to Gunbroker. Being a gunowner is not getting easier. -

Hmmmmmmmmmmm So it appears that there has been a major change in the field of firearms shipping. Fedex still apparently allows Johnny Gunowner to ship a gun to a manufacturer for warranty service, etc. i did so a month ago, same scenario as what Erik88 described. -

The last time I shipped anything, UPS and Fedex required that the sender or the receiver be an FFL (one or the other). Otherwise, returning something to Smith & Wesson, Ruger, etc for service would be all but impossible. Where are you getting your information? -
I'm good

CZ Custom's RDS red dot mounting system uses plates that slide into a groove they mill into the slide and IT AIN'T GOING NOWHERE. Even though RDS uses a plate, it mounts the dot LOW. I have an SP-01 with a DPP (a relatively tall dot), and it's so low I can use a standard front sight through the glass. Of course, it does Glock shooters no good lol
-
I like it, especially those bigger-than-typical mounting screws.
-
That's pretty interesting. How do they address the different mounting posts/slots that some dots use? I don't think they are a huge deal, but they do theoretically help secure the dot.
