  1. Not sure where you are from, but that assumption is highly debatable in Memphis.
  2. It doesn't fail me.
  3. Yes, I'm sure that it does, but Glock is usually good about taking care of stuff that's out of warranty. Technically, it doesn't really matter, because like strick said, the warranty is only a year anyway. One of my fellow IDPA shooters recently sent back a five year old Glock 34 w/probably 50,000 rounds through it because one of the rear frame rails came loose. Glock sent him a shipping label and took care of it, no charge.
  4. It has an extremely negative impact on the public's perception of police. Police give you a ticket for going 12 over, then themselves drive 20 over, then let a fellow officer out of a DUI. The law applies only to non-LEO, at least around here. Anyone who doesn't think this gives the cops a bad name has his head in the sand. I started the "discretion" thing by asking a cop who boasted on this thread that he treats everyone equally just how many tickets he has given his fellow officers, and I still haven't heard back from him.
  5. So what's up with the bloody clothes?
  6. Last month at an IDPA match, I witnessed a hole-in-the-pantsleg ND with an XD in a Serpa (the guy was drawing, not re-holstering). Like molon said, maybe some techniques are simply incompatible with certain holsters, or perhaps it was one of the older ones. Whatever the case, I will stay away from them.
  7. Not sure, but I would have to guess around 150.
  8. You must not spend much time at GT--there is as much Glock bashing there as there is here. Lots of 1911 fans and SIG owners post there regularly. Besides, only a fraction of the site is dedicated to guns; the rest of it is coptalk, competition threads, concealed carry issues, training and tactics, etc. The place is swamped with shooters of every flavor.
  9. It's funny, but I see more people whining about Glock fans screaming "perfection" than I see actual Glock fans screaming "perfection." I've only seen one member beat the "perfection" drum, and I've been around a while. I think there are a few people on this forum with an anti-Glock complex, and I think they outnumber the Gaston worshipers. nuff sed
  10. So, how many of your fellow officers have you given speeding tickets?
  11. I don't have a published phone number, and I don't want my name printed in a newspaper when some editor decides to do so, so I'm all for this bill. In the Commercial Appeal (Memphis newspaper) today, the editorial mentioned that this bill would prevent one from checking to see if neighborhood felons have carry permits. Duh, yo Adrian, felons ain't allowed no permits! http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/mar/26/target-open-government
  12. I have been helping set up the match this week, and I can tell you that the stages are going to be whacked out! Donnie Burton, Mas Ayoob, and one of the Glock girls will all be there, and the prize table is worth over $16,000. To those who are coming, you will not be disappointed. I will be helping run stage four--come by and say hello. Now, if that rain Friday will just blow to the north.
  13. I've never believed the kinetic energy formula to be the end-all, final, determining factor in calculating bullet energy. The kinetic energy formula squares velocity, and therefore favors higher velocity rounds like the .357. Now I'm not saying that the .357 is not a fairly powerful round; however, the formula used in the Federal catalog gives somewhat skewed figures, IMO. For example, when using this formula, one is often lead to believe that a .308 or a .270 has more muzzle energy than a 12 gauge slug, a .22-250 hits harder than a 7.62X39, or that a 9mm is more powerful than a .45 ACP.
  14. The .357 Magnum is overrated.
  15. Oh no, here we go again
  16. I'm not sure how serious Rickles is trying to be, but whatever the case, I doubt he will ever find a rental Lorcin.
  17. We enjoyed meeting Chance and Steve, and hope to be there next time as well.
  18. I can't stay all night, but I'll be there at 7:00. I'll have on a yellow hat.
  19. Friday the 21st at RUSA, right? I should be there.
  20. I don't "carry more magazines than an infantryman in Iraq." I think that's a bit over the top. And in my case, the extra weight and bulk of a single mag is not an issue. The juror who concludes that you are a mall ninja for carrying an extra mag will probably go ahead and conclude that you are a mall ninja for carrying a gun. In a courtroom setting, an extra mag can easily be explained to have logical benefits. An expert witness (a retired police trainer, for instance) can clarify this even more. On the other hand, if you carry three guns, five mags, pepper spray, two knives, a stun gun, a flashlight, and a folding baton, your mall ninja argument is much more realistic.
  21. Nope, I sure can't. I still like to be prepared, however. One local shootout involved a citizen with a carry permit who emptied his eight shot .45 and scored seven hits. A J-frame may have gotten him killed, no?
  22. Ditto here. Any feedway malfunction is usually resolved more quickly with a fresh mag. The extra rounds are nice, but probably not necessary, although I am not one to rant about the average gunfight being three shots at five yards or whatever. That may be the average, but averages are calculated with highs and lows. Thus, it is entirely possible to attend a gunfight that will require 10 or 12 rounds. Like Tom Givens said, if one foot is on a block of ice, and the other is in a campfire, then, on average, your feet are comfortable.
  23. I haven't been to one in a while, but I'm not fond of them any more due simply to the fact that they usually don't allow concealed carry. Some may simply ignore the "no CCW" rule, but I won't even go (packing or empty-handed).
