Mars, I'll stick with the first part of my post, but I apologize for the second part. It was thrown in there simply for the entertainment of a few Memphis-area TGOers. For those of you east of the TN River who have no idea what I'm talking about, here is an example of a typical day in Memphis politics (badly off topic, I know): (fast forward to about 2:00 minutes): [ame] [/ame]

I shopped around and found mine w/ 50 rounds through it for $800 w/ 11 mags. It's good for nothing (except maybe 3 gun) but I love the thing. On a side note, I read and was told that the 9mm ARs recoil just as much as the 5.56 ARs. I fell over laughing when I heard this. Truth be known, the Bushmaster 9mm kicks about as hard as my Colt HBAR 5.56. This freaked me out at first, but after thinking about it, it would almost make sense for a superlight, blowback-operated 9mm to kick as much as a heavier, gas-operated 5.56. Live and learn.

I took a similar class back in February at Rangemaster, except we were indoors and got to blow black crud out of our noses each night. The training I received was easily worth the price of the class. When fellow shooters asked me why I thought it was so worthwhile, all I could come up with was shaking my head and telling them they needed to see for themselves (stupid on my part, I know). Competitive shooting is great for testing yourself and your gear, but you learn very little in IDPA or USPSA. BTW, where is CIS? (I'm too lazy to dig up the atlas and find Smyrna).

Don't ask/don't tell has always worked well for me. I occasionally enter friends' homes armed (friends whose wives are hostile to CCW). The husbands know, but don't want their wives to find out. If it ever becomes an issue, I will use the towerclimber method--I'll leave, and won't be back unarmed. It's their choice, not mine.

Whatever you get, some combination of wide rear/narrow front will speed up front sight acquisition. Many fine shooters choose plain black sights over triitium or fiber optics.

A cocked, 3 or 4 pound trigger with maybe 1/8" of travel required to discharge is not comparable to 5.5 or even 8 pounds requiring 1/2" of travel. To quote a notorious local politician, "What you're telling me is just duummmbbbbbb..."

We did the upper and lower Ocoee last year. It was loads of fun--we even got to see a guy break his leg at the Olympic section.

Bartlett, Nashville, Brentwood, Memphis, it's all the same crap--big cities with lots of crime. Nashville is a lot worse than its cooked stats indicate (according to a Nashville cop I know). I'd rather live in North/Central Arkansas or East Tennessee.

Just as long as you leave Bartlett...

Hmm...an extended mag release for a Glock is often a standard accessory for short-fingered right-handed Glock shooters. A cheap, simple mod is to get a Glock 21 mag release (aka 9/40/357 extended mag release) and an emery board and custom-fit your own. $2.49 + an emery board. I am left-handed, and actually prefer the mag release to be on the left side. Reaching around the grip and hitting a mag release with my thumb is awkward as hell to me. When I try it right-handed, I see why so many people say Glocks are too thick.

A bit off topic... I'm not a NASCAR fan, but I'm curious about the black chick who filed the racial/sexual discrimination lawsuit against NASCAR. Supposedly it's huge--if half of her allegations are true, NASCAR sounds like they will shell out some huge $$ and get some lousy PR. Anybody know more about this?

I will not put the orange box stuff through any of my guns--just had too many bad experiences with the stuff. The worst I saw was when a friend (who was fairly new to shooting) with a new Glock 19 said he could shoot it well, but it jammed all the time. "A Glock 19?," I asked. He claimed the "flat points" always hung up, but the "round noses" fed well. My first thought was, "Who loads a flat point 9mm?" I saw him at the range about two weeks later, and I saw his "flat points"--they were .40s! He had bought one of RUSA's 9mm orange box 250 packs, but it was about 20% .40. Nice.

Right eye dominant, left handed shooter with handguns, right handed with long guns. Both eyes open all the time. With handguns, I simply rotate (not tilt) my head to the left and look down the sights with my right eye. Been shooting w/ both eyes open for 30 years (thanks to my father for starting me out that way).

You'd be suprised at what some match directors create. How do you practice this scenario?
