  1. Good night alive, IDPA is just a game! Very few IDPA shooters will argue that it's training for a real gunfight. And on the use of cover thing, not all shots must be taken from cover. Some shooting takes place in the open while on the move, which can't be a bad thing to practice. Do IDPA techniques teach you how to survive a gunfight? Probably not. Is learning to think while instinctively handling and shooting your carry gun at the same time a bad thing? I can't see how it is. Practicing drawing and shooting a carry gun from concealment in front of your peers while on a clock can't hurt. It's not training, but it's no more useless than some of the training available out there.
  2. blasphemy! j/k--although I love M-1As/M-14s, I have actually been thinking about picking up a FAL before the election. From what I've read, it appears to be the best of the .308 battle rifles.
  3. I'm 5'10/180, and I easily conceal a Glock 19. The M&P compact is smaller, and you are quite a bit bigger, so concealing it shouldn't be an issue. You could probably conceal an AMT Hardballer Longslide if you tried hard enough.
  4. +2
  5. Thanks Angus! I found more videos of the same match on youtube: [ame] [/ame][ame] [/ame]
  6. Before you replace any parts, make sure you are able to shoot from the reset point. By this I mean only letting the trigger out until you feel a click--the gun is now ready to fire--there's no need to let the trigger out any more. That spot where it suddenly gets heavy? That's your reset. Dry fire your gun, keep the trigger pulled, rack the slide, and slowly let the trigger out. When it clicks, you are ready to go. With a little practice, you can rip off .2 second splits by shooting from the reset. The reset seems to be more pronounced with the stock trigger than with lightened triggers.
  7. I like cats, but that's just funny as hell.
  8. +1 I need another velcro-lined belt, but $95 is just tough to cough up for a belt. However, if there is a belt that is actually worth $95, I bet Comp-Tac makes it.
  9. LOL, he's not talking about me. I probably can't shoot Master in a classifier. BTW, congrats to Bill.
  10. 1. Thanks for all the congrats. 2. Yes, I've had the 34 three or four weeks now. 3. This IDPA match was the Shoot, Rattle, and Roll in Hot Springs, AR. 4. I somehow managed not to shoot myself in the ass. 5. Here are all 12 stages (I'm the lefty in the green vest; MemphisMechanic is wearing the hatcam): http://www.tristateshooters.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130
  11. No--but I saw a few of them malfunction. I didn't technically shoot against them--they are in CDP or ESP; I shoot SSP. However, I did beat all of them, too. It's always fun smoking a guy with a $2500 gun.
  12. Yep--a stock G34.
  13. IWB--Comp-Tac CTAC.
  14. beat all SSP Experts plus both SSP Masters.
  15. Never seen one of those.
  16. Some STIs are comparable in price to Kimber, Springfield, S&W, and SIG.
  17. Nothing wrong with a Para, but keep in mind that the LDA is a double action.

  19. Why would you want an XD-M trigger?
  20. Don't some Beretta 92s have manual safeties?
  21. Membership in these should be MUCH less than MSSA: http://www.tnsportsfoundation.org/ http://desotorifleandpistolclub.com/ Also, there used to be a rifle range here: http://www.state.tn.us/environment/parks/NatchezTrace/index.shtml
