  1. I have a couple of them laying around for similar reasons. On the other hand, they are actually cheaper than some pin punches that I've seen in stores.
  2. Glock tool=1/8" pin punch w/ Glock logo
  3. Who is doing the velcro? I took mine to Guys Shoe & Luggage Repair on Stage Rd. They charged about $12, I think. I would like a Comp-Tac belt, but haven't yet been able to stomach the $95 price tag.
  4. Knock Glocks all you want in a Glock-knocking thread; I don't care. But I do get irritated when someone antagonizes the OP with a useless, smartass comment that does not contribute to the thread at all.
  5. It's a fine round, but unless you reload, I would stay away from it. Ammo will be tougher to find, and will offer fewer choices when you do find it. It's basically a .30-06 necked down to 7mm, and for whitetail deer, has practically no advantage over a .270 or .30-06. Yes, its trajectory is flatter than a .30-06, and it may hit harder than a .270, but after reviewing a few ballistics tables, you may be suprised at how little the difference is. I'm not knocking it; I actually think it's a pretty neat round, and I wish it would catch on more. Back during the 70s or early 80s (I think), Remington introduced the 7mm Express. It flopped, but years later 7mms became the bullet to shoot, and several 7mm cartridges were introduced. One was the .280 Remington, which is merely a 7mm Express with a new name (a simple marketing ploy). The .280 is kind of a 'tweener--everybody thinks a 7mm Rem. Mag. will sweep a moose off its feet at 1000 yards, but on the other end of the spectrum, the 7mm-08 is the 7mm to have if you want a short action. The .280 is sort of the odd man out. As for the rifle, my dad had a 742 back during the 80s in .30-06. So did our neighbor. Neither rifle shot particularly well, and our neighbor (who was a TN state rifle team high power shooter) was especially negative about the 742. Both eventually sold them and got bolt guns.
  6. +1
  7. +1 I have the slide version as well.
  8. Wow. Your contribution to this thread is overwhelming. fizik, here's a link that will show the removal/reassembly of the slide stop in detail: http://www.topglock.com/info/receiverdis.htm Also, it could be possible that the magazine follower is worn to the point that it no longer will hold the slide open. How old/what condition is your mag follower?

  10. Call William Hill @ 755-4196. He's in Cordova, is an upstanding guy, and only charged $30 earlier this year when I used him.
  11. Good luck with your gamble.
  12. Anybody going to the TN IDPA state championship this Saturday?
  13. Many people who do not even have land lines are getting alarms with cellular connections. The cell backup costs us about $5/month extra.
  14. I think the stick in the road is a good idea.
  15. I don't feel that alarms are useless, but they do have limited value. I think they serve more to discourage the hassle of breaking into a house where the burglars know there is an alarm than actually causing the cops to show up with guns drawn to catch the bad guys. Sure, a pro can easily defeat an alarm, but the average thug may move on. Somebody cut our phone line on New Year's Eve two years ago (apparently attempting to disable the alarm), but did not break in. My theory is that they chickened out or got spooked and changed their minds. Why else would someone slice your phone line in broad daylight? If they had broken in, the cellular backup would have allowed the alarm to work normally.
  16. being a lefty has its advantages every 10 or 12 years.
  17. Yeah, but you were probably using a rifle. This is not nearly as difficult as it sounds--I bet you could do it.
  18. It seems that the mag change would take quite a bit longer by hitting the mag release with your weak hand. If speed is a concern, rotating the gun slightly in your strong (shooting) hand and ejecting the mag while reaching for a fresh mag takes less time than hitting the mag release with the weak hand, then getting a new mag with that same hand.
  19. I had a SOG Flash XL and loved it. Unfortunately, I can't find it.
  20. Yes, IDPA has some techniques and rules that you would probably never use in real life. However, that does not mean that IDPA shooters can't hold their own in the real world. I look at it like this. MMA fighters compete in a controlled enviroment with a set of rules and a referee. They use a lot of moves that they would never attempt in a fight in a Wal-Mart parking lot, or in their driveway. Against two thugs, they probably would not try to armbar one, because thug #2 would stab the MMA fighter in the back or rape his gal while he was rolling on the ground with thug#1. However, a good MMA fighter could still ruin two thugs' afternoon. Many IDPA shooters are the same.
  21. I was reading on TGO the other day about how much one round from a shotgun would spread at close range. I had a little free time today and decided to find out for myself. The following is a picture of a USPSA target shot at 15' with one round of Winchester 3" 00 Buck out of my Mossberg 500 with an 18.5" cylinder bore (no choke) barrel. As you can see, the pattern is MAYBE 6" wide. I knew that it wouldn't cover the whole target, (many believe a shotgun blast will cover a whole room) but even I was a bit suprised--I thought that the short barrel combined with no choke would have thrown a bigger pattern. BTW, the 3" Winchesters THUMP (on both ends).
  22. Wow, I didn't know we had that many Memphis members...
  23. but that was probably rigged...
  24. It just needs to say (in a deep, robotic voice): "You have 15 seconds to comply."
  25. I dindn't see the show, but I agree with some of the findings. Based on my own observations and experiences in the woods, I've never bought into the idea that deer are colorblind, and I've never thought that their hearing was as good as many think.
