This was kind of the point of this thread. Someone mentioned earlier that it’s already too late, but I’m not seeing it. Stocking up on what I need now, especially ammo and mags. Not buying stuff I don’t need like lowers, LPKs, etc, even though those will dry up also. I vividly remember what goes away during panics and am preparing. I also don’t want to ever feel guilty going shooting due to high cost of ammo.

With ATF’s eye on braces, the likely outcome is NFA regulation, which to many would defeat the purpose of a pistol brace. Wouldn’t you have to assume that the natural path would be a grace period and then a required tax stamp if you want to have one on a gun with a barrel less than 16”? Braces would be the last thing I would buy right now. I see them going the way of any other stock. Many of us have affiliations with industry people or folks in the know. I think we all know what is on the menu, but there is no clear path on how it gets done. In order of “lowest hanging fruit”...red flag, universal background checks, braces, body armor, AWB. The only hope for braces is that the original, documented reason they were created was to help a one armed vet shoot an AR. What could have been a valid American Disabilities Act case has been far overshadowed by millions using them for other purposes and just further muddying what a “pistol” is. Toss a mass shooting in the mix and it’s game over.

It's more of an accusation, but yes, absolutely, on both. You outright admitted it on page one. "It doesn't affect me, so I don't care..." I also indirectly called you the enemy if you didn't catch that.
-
Given the support of red flag laws by many members here, I'm certainly not going to post anything provocative, but I assure you I will not be in prison. I also would be careful with "it isn't going to happen", given the rapid pace at which many members are willing to drive us to the edge of the cliff, forfeiting every right that doesn't matter to them on the way. But hey, you have a sweet 401K, right?
-
There's a lot of "since it doesn't affect me, I don't care" going around. Our worst enemies are among us- large cohorts of the gun community telling the NRA and politicians that things like Red Flag laws, part bans, and AWB are okay, because it doesn't affect them. I personally would never own a bump stock and had one pistol brace I really didn't care for. I'm also not worried about red flag laws (until someone turns on me). That doesn't mean I would ever be passive about laws that infringe the rights and freedom of others.

So I assume you will be first in line at a mandatory gun buyback?
-
My suspicion is that those would be “Akins Accelerator’ed” and be outright banned. I don’t have a dog in the pistol brace fight and just sold the only AR pistol I own, so I will stick to mags and stuff I truly want. Almost everything on my shopping list is checked at this point. In unrelated SBR news, I had an eForm 1 come back approved with a stamp on less than a month and think it would have been quicker if I had gotten fingerprints done sooner than day 14.

I’ve been through more than one of these discos and see which way the wind is blowing. I admittedly went way overboard after the last one settled, which forced a mass sell off of ammo, mags, and rifles before moving here, as movers don’t touch ammo/guns and I couldn’t get a big enough trailer. Anyhow, I have a weird feeling this is “the big one”. I’ve put some projects on hold to start funding things that I would want in the future in case there is an AWB. I’m not buying stuff to resell like many do, but don’t want to have any regrets on what I wish I would have purchased when I had the opportunity. I currently have a bid on the rifle that got away from me a few years ago and if it doesn’t work out, I have a backup to get a different one for a bit more. I’ve been buying a good number of mags on a regular basis and bought a bunch more yesterday. And while ammo doesn’t seem to be currently at risk, I did scoop up a ton of it at a local sale knowing ammo spikes after these bans and takes forever to come back down to these levels. Drums are obviously going to be under attack, but I’m not buying any because I genuinely don’t like them. I used a Magpul D60 on one stage at one match that warranted it, but it’s been collecting dust since. I don’t get the sense anyone else has started truly “panic buying” yet, given that I just got a whole page of good ARs for $600-$800 from CDNN. Classifieds seem pretty quiet, too. That said, I remember empty gun shelf walls after Sandy Hook/Obama and don’t want to be the guy running across town to get a box of 22LR. Anyone else preparing for a potential storm? Or waiting it out?

TBI will find a way to deny. I had a misdemeanor disorderly conduct “fighting” in 2007 in a small town in AZ. TBI wouldn’t approve me until I spent months figuring out the reason and then more time tracking down the paperwork. The reason? It was clearly listed as a bar fight with no injuries BUT no victim was listed, who would have been the bouncer. Their reason for denial was that without a victim, it “could” have been domestic violence. Burden of proof was on me to find paperwork with the bouncer’s name and that he wasn’t related to me. Private party sales are your option until the NRA sells you up the river on universal background checks.

I got a deal on the Springfield Elite RO Champion and I’ve been really pleased with it. Accurate as hell. It’s slim, but big. I’d rather carry a G19 though.
-
I didn't like the 43 either. My point of aim was different, it was snappy, and it was just a little too slim. Where are you having issues concealing? With Glocks, I go between the 19 and 26. I find the "bobtail" of the 19 is where I print the most (albeit rarely), so the Pearce +0 pinky extension gives me the same grip on a G26. I use a G-Code IWB holster. My EDC is a double stack Wilson Combat EDC X9. I also briefly tried carrying a commander 1911. I didn't see a major difference in width as far as concealment, but everyone is different. I'm actually carrying an EDC X9 and a G26 right now with a t-shirt and I'm not printing at all.

When that happened to me, the bullet would stick really close to the chamber and the next round wouldn't feed. But a HiPoint could have a looser tolerance. No way those rounds had much, if any, powder. The customer's complaint was "accuracy issues". He couldn't get on paper at any distance.

I'm mixing two topics in my last sentence. If we were shooting buddies, you would know I am a TN resident and well over the legal age. Although I JUST noticed my profile says Phoenix, AZ, so that looks suspicious and weird, especially given the subject matter. Fixed. I joined the forum 6 months before moving to TN to start getting a feel for ranges and laws and never changed it. Appreciate your insight. Not much more to add. This topic always turned into a closed thread on the forum I used to belong to due to personal attacks on the people who required BOS of any kind. I appreciate those of you who do put BOS required in your ad versus surprises. DaveTN's "basic BOS" probably wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, but I can't say I have ever responded to a BOS ad. I have had them sprung on me during the transaction, and every single one of them was NOT a simple name and signature. One actually had "last 6 of SSN", but the ID grabbing attempts really pissed me off. Seeing BOS required far more frequently here, I will likely be more prone to not immediately exit the ad and maybe ask what information the seller wants before making an offer.
-
Zero argument on that, which is why I only ever required the “ID flash” when I would sell anything. Age hadn’t crossed my mind here, so good call out. In AZ, DL’s under the age of 21 were printed vertically to idiotproof ID checks for bartenders, so if you flashed me an AZ ID that is horizontal with your pic, you were good. Will look at DOB here with everything horizontal, but I have only done 1-2 transactions with guys my age or older. That said, can you help me understand how the BOS protects you from residency/age? It’s the ID check that gets what you need. I genuinely don’t see the correlation. What you describe about ID and what you capture are two different things. Not being snarky or disrespectful. And my point is you likely already have my name, number, car type from messages leading up to the deal. My other point is that your BOS isnt like most others I’ve seen, so “simple BOS” versus the guy that grabbed my license and tried to start writing everything down like I was getting a ticket should be called out in the ad. I see “BOS” and assume the latter. I would probably be fine with yours, again, since no one here knows me.
-
Established meaning on the forums, not legally. I have no feedback or buddies from the board to vouch for me. I have my TN license, a house, a job, and a TN carry permit. My point was that most of my trading buddies in AZ all knew me from matches or previous dealings. I was more “established” on the forums.
-
Another point I forgot to mention in my first post. How are you storing whatever info you collect from me? BTW, if all you want is a signature, I’m fine. I’m talking about the Bills of Sale I have seen with address, DL #, etc. I would sign one and let you see my ID and give you my first/last name, especially since I’m not established in TN yet. My home address on or a pic of my license? No. So maybe my request for the BOSers is to just be clear on what data you will want.

Didn’t know where else to put this. Feel free to move it if you want. I’ve been in TN one year. I’m probably not going to change your mind, but thought I would offer some perspective from observations in the classifieds. I an astonished at the number of ads that require bills of sale. There is even one that says he will take a picture of my ID if I purchase from him. No. Hell no. If I were to buy from you, we would exchange phone numbers. You would also see my car when we meet and see what I look like. You could write my plate number down and even take a picture if you desired, but I would think that was weird. I would probably also give you my name when we meet. You would have all the personal information you need. What does my signature and any other info do for you to protect you? It’s a rhetorical question Nothing. “But if it’s used in a crime, I will have proof I sold it.” True. That proof, which depending on circumstances, could be used AGAINST you. Saw it happen. Guy bought a gun that had been flipped a bunch on the boards. Beater P226. I saw that gun sold 6-7 times and almost ended up with it myself once. Required a BOS when he eventually sold it. Someone long before him reported it stolen. Current owner got caught and didn’t know. BOS seller and current owner both ended up getting arrested (he also gave a copy to the buyer, if I recall). Story is long and I’m leaving out tons of details, but the BOS was proof he possessed and sold a stolen gun. I’ve had two guns come up in skip traces and had visits from ATF as a result of them getting flipped to someone in California. I didn’t provide names or info of the guys I sold to. I just knew I didn’t have the guns anymore (and so did the ATF, obviously). They made their threats for info and I called their bull####. My only obligation was to not have reasonable suspicion that the buyer wasn’t from AZ and I made everyone I didn’t know do an ID flash (and looked at state of license plate), which was sufficient. Anyhow, if you’re a BOSer, consider getting rid of the BOS requirement. I won’t ever have the pleasure of meeting you otherwise. It’s nice being free and not being required to fill out paperwork to meet someone face to face to exchange money for a tool with a serial number. We have enough BS from our gov’t in this state. We don’t need to impose unnecessary BS on ourselves.

Super bummed this isn’t current. I was excited when I was reading through and went to sign up before noticing the year.

I see your point now. Thanks for continuing to elaborate. I feel like there is still a back door here, so I’m not on board, but appreciate the perspective. -

Telling our representatives “we don’t like this” and why is exactly what I’m doing. The law isn’t passed yet. My plan is to say hell no. Already emailed and called his office. Have you? It seems like you’ve already accepted this. The fact that I had to go get a “mother may I” permit to carry a gun in this state disgusts me and I’ve noticed many gun owners of TN seem to be complacent. I overheard a conversation in a gun store by “regulars” there basically saying they wouldn’t care about an AWB because it wouldn’t affect them We got Constitutional Carry and guns in bars (for non-drinkers) passed in my old state. The latest win here is “guns in trunks”. That’s a joke. I know, I know... If it was so much better where I came from, go back. Sometimes I wish I could, but I can’t and I will leave it at that. I do like it here. The mindset is just totally different. -

I’ve seen orders of protection issued on more than one occasion by angry ex-wives after false accusations of “fear” and “abuse” and watched gun buddies go through living hell having their guns need to all be moved elsewhere until they could get that settled. Some of them were FFLs or SOTs and lost their businesses and reputations in the process. One of my closest friends from where I came from who is in the industry lived under constant blackmail and extortion from a disgruntled ex that she would get his guns taken away unless he did “x” (pay her, get back together, stop seeing other people, pay her...pay her). This is more than a slippery slope. It’s the above scenario now open to anyone who doesn’t like you or wants to see your guns out of your hands...or see you get hurt or killed in the process of an attempted confiscation. No compromises. -
I bought a TacSol X-Ring about two years ago and I may have 40 rounds through it. I need to take that thing out. Also have two suppressed AR SBRs with carbon fiber barrels- 4” and 6” I think. The 6” suppressed AR is the most fun. It’s really accurate for what it is.

Nashville-bound for a move in my company, which is based there. My wife and I leave Monday from Phoenix, where we have lived our whole lives. I used to be somewhat active competitively, but tore an extensor tendon in the forearm on my strong side, so I haven’t shot since April and had to have surgery with a long recovery. It’s discouraging to be loading a huge safe, guns, and ammo in a truck not knowing if I will be able to shoot them again, but I sure as hell can’t sell anything in this gun depression. And I still pay the safe a visit daily to tinker. My wife and I don’t have kids. I’m Libertarian. She’s more liberal, but completely pro-2A, as someone who is “liberal” should be. We have two small dogs and bought a quaint little house in East Nashville. I’m going to get my TN DL and then need to figure out a place to get my carry permit and possibly qualify support side only since I’m gimpy. Calibers- 9MM, 5.56, 22LR Guns I use- Glocks, CZ-75 SA pistols, FN SCAR, AK-74, MP5s, CZ Scorpion. Guns I hate- shotgun and anything 40S&W. Looking forward to the move and eventually meeting some of you if/when I’m back up and shooting. At least I can pass off as a noob again at matches while I build up my strength and skill again
