I am a tool maker by trade, been at it for 40+ years. A lot of CNC stuff now but back in the day any close work needed hand fitting, and it still does. I enjoy the process of knife making quite a bit feeds my creative side I guess. Whatever the tool is, it has to work and fit both the job and the man doing it.

Was down in the Knoxville area this past weekend, looking for places to retire to. We were down by Seymour, Maryville. Over to Oak Ridge and Clinton. Up by Lake Norris and most places in between. Powell seemed like a nice area. Some new building, lots of older homes nice properties, mix of woods and farm land close to Knoxville, my wife will have to work for a few more years when we move. I would like to set up a shop on the property, do metal work and make knives, something to keep me busy. Little hunting and fishing, generally enjoying life. Any place else I should put on the short list?

Our thoughts and prayers to those folks in Texas. We don't lock up the loonies any more, just give them pills to self medicate, that's working real well.

Bought a del ton 5-7 years ago lots of rounds down range with it, runs well. Maybe not the most accurate rifle but shoots well at 400 yds.

I was raised to respect this country, not to s**t on it like these morons are doing, being all political making 20 million a year not bad. Yes they have a right to voice their opinions but that is the wrong way. Before this all started stations used to break for commercials when the anthem was played, now its a top ratings getter no doubt. Love and Respect

bigger is better, hunting is fluid, not all turkeys will walk within 10 yards of you 10 - 12 gauge is the way to go turkeys are hardy birds

Not looking to be on the lake, would rather have a few more acres off the lake. Was thinking a lumber outfit would do that, that's for the info guys.

Never cared for the Dyna platform, they did not handle well at all. Should have never gotten rid of the fxr one of the best frames they ever made.

Well if I liked NY that much I would stay here, but I want out of this liberal hole, so tired of the government doing what is best for me. Just waiting for my retirement to commence. I live in Nassau county have a hunting/target pistol permit, only thing I can get here, but I have a PA non resident permit (go figure), so I was able to carry in your fair state, wonderful! Be back down later in the year. We were looking at some properties, some were wooded, wondering what they charge to clear land for building site, any idea?

Just spent a week at Lake Douglas. I will be moving down to Tenn. in a year or so, doing a recon last week. We had a great time, talked to a lot of folks and just relaxed. Love your state can't wait to be a resident. Went to Bud's, Smokey Mountain Knife Works. Nice to see Gatlinburg is recovering, a lot of burned buildings still.

Thanks for the tips and info. Just really starting the looking process now, got a year + before I retire, will look at the Cumberland plateau area. My wife is a bit younger and she will need a job for several years so that's in the mix also. My godfather lived in Kerhonkson, but that was many years ago. Am ok with change of seasons and a little snow. The day of the election I went to bed at night thinking Hillary would win and when my wife woke me for work in the morning and said Trump was President I told her she should not joke like that. BUT IT WAS TRUE! Was so happy took the day off and went shooting! -

Live in Nassau county which is turning into the armpit of the world. Just waiting for retirement to kick in. Did a lot of hunting in the Catskills, Delaware county mostly. Now go up to Madison county a good friend of mine has property up there, some nice deer up there. Hunt bow and gun, can't wait to see what Tennessee has to offer. Going down to Lake Douglas next month for vacation and recon. -

Yep, talked to a very nice lady in Johnson City who showed us some property, still looking around. Have a friend who lives in Sevierville, going down by Lake Douglas next month for awhile. Got a bit of time before I retire. Really want out of NY. How's the hunting down here?
