  2. Thanks for your reply's
  3. Can anyone recommend a contractor, buying property in South Knox and need a builder. Want a modest rancher with walk out basement not looking for a mcmansion. Thanks
  4. Just got some Tripp Cobra mags, they have a molded in metal piece as part of the follower should lock the slide back without wearing out. So far reliable not a lot of rounds through them yet. Well made
  5. How about black green linen micarta, looks real sharp (pun intended)
  6. Use fiebling's all the time, good die does not bleed out. Wear gloves when dying keep from dying hands. Just make sure the leather is clean (no glue or grease) or it will come out splotchy.
  7. Try Admiral Steel good price and selection. For a 3" x 72" piece the shipping is reasonable and its enough for a bunch of knives. Jersey Baron is good also, met him several times at the New York Knife Show which is held in New Jersey now since New York City started arresting people leaving the show with knives several years ago, got to love that.
  8. Have stopped in that Weigles last time we were in Tennessee got gas coffee and snacks for the trip home (coffee was good) Will try TN forestry, thanks to all for the replys
  9. Looking at a property in Strawberry Plains area, at a minimum would need drive way (several hundred feet) and several acres cleared. Can anyone recommend a excavator/ lumber company for this? THE MOVE IS ON THE HORIZON!!
  10. Have a Valor and a Guardian, great looking guns in an understated way. Both are real good shooters too. How many rounds through the ECO?
  11. We've considered renting first also, like you say get a better feel for the area, have to see how it all works out.
  12. Guess I'll have a lot of places to hunt, was wondering about that. Yeah we're looking on Zillow and other sites for homes, just seems like it would be easier to have a representative looking for us also, coming from 800 miles away they can help set some viewings up. I've also bought and sold a couple of homes myself, not that big a deal. The adventure begins.
  13. Wipe off my shoes, I usually stop in Bristol and take a shower to get the liberal stench off me!
  14. Definitely different in Tennessee but better, like it should be people are friendly and nice. We stopped in a fast food place couple of years ago (Mcdonalds) and walked up to the counter to place our order, the girl said they would bring it over to us when it was ready! took a minute and she apologized for taking so long! when we finished eating a kid came over and cleared our table for us WTF. Workers doing more than their jobs unheard of now days. I like Tennessee! And you can carry a gun. Coming down in August give you a shout.
  15. We have been down to Knoxville area bunch of times, and the last few times just touring all the different towns as best we could trying to get a feel for the area. Time to dive in I guess, right now thinking about Powell ,Maryville, Oakridge area and up towards Norris. Yes they all seemed a little different, established, up and coming and more rural. Make the best choice possible its always a bit of a roll of the dice. Was thinking if we find a place that calls out to us will put on nice shirt and visit new neighbors, say hello before we buy. Oh yes we are from downstate NY, Long Island area, really starting to hate it down here. Just to much BS.
  16. Thanks for the leads guys this time next year we will be living in Tennessee, enjoying a better life.
  17. Going to be in the Knoxville area next month looking for a retirement property (less than a year now!) if any one has recommendations for agents or places to live would be greatly appreciated. My wife would still be working for several years, so close to Knoxville is needed.
  18. Nice looking gun. Dan Wesson make some fine pistols, I have a Valor and a Guardian by far my favorite guns shoot and look great. Accurate and reliable.
  19. nice set up, is that eco 45 or 9? just wondering
  20. Yaarhh matey
  21. Look around for a Gen 3 smith and wesson. I had a 3913 slim single stack in 9mm sold it for peanuts years ago sorry I did. Nice EDC gun. I have a DW guardian that is totally reliable, trust it to carry. Funny you mention savannah stopped there with my wife on the way to pick our niece up in florida, and almost got jacked by two guys down by the river, they were following us and something made me turn around, started to pull my gun they took off fast. Nice town otherwise.
  22. Now you know, WTF! https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/why-are-white-men-stockpiling-guns/#
  23. Have a lot of Speer Gold Dots, but use HST and Golden Saber all reliable in my carry guns all 230 grain.
  24. If I could only have one it would have to be LW commander 45acp. Carry this 75% of the time now.
  25. So many guns so little time! I'm a 1911 guy without a doubt, I can appreciate and have other guns but I like metal hammer fired guns with a safety if its a auto loader. That being said I have striker fired guns also (not many). I mainly like things that work, and work well.
